Should I read books before drawing or after? I don't want to feel too tired to not be able to draw... well, with a book it's the same thing.

>Should I read books before drawing or after?
While. Like this:
>read chapter
>draw what chapter explains
>copy the drawings offered in the book
>draw from photos
>draw a few from imagination to see if you got it
>if not, go back to step 2
>only when you're sure you've completely dominated that chapter's subject, go to next chapter
>Don't forget to practice the content of the previous chapters

>I don't want to feel too tired

You are goddamn retarded. If one is tired, it's hard for him to learn, no matter what you might tell yourself. The OP's case is just about prioritizing, you can't do everything with the same proficiency.

Okay, what about books that are non-art related but require your focus? How do you approach that?
>>
>>3120866
You always read a book before doing anything, that's the whole point. I bet you're the kind of person who buys a desk and doesn't read the instruction manual either.

This.

That's a stupid example. When you're learning a skill you have to be self analytical and you can't analyze yourself if you only produce work from a book. For example if you're learning arm anatomy you don't just read the book and then draw perfect anatomy. First you try to do a page of arms and fail at it. Then you try to analyze your work BEFORE looking at the book to spot any mistakes. Then when you actually start reading the book you are much more likely to retain relevant information since you'll already know what parts were giving you trouble. Then you could copy from the book and try it on you own again to see what you learned.

wtf how low are your energy levels you pussy
