Fairly new to /fit/
On a plan for weight loss
Have a question:
I am on a 1200 calorie diet and doing a 16/8 intermittent fast every day. I do fasted cardio about 4 times per week for 45 mins and I do a 19/5 intermittent fast once a week. Also doing a 40-40-20 carb/protein/fat ration on my diet.
Been going 2 months now and I've lost 11 pounds. No issues, I am not tired, I actually feel great.
I was seeing consistent weight loss, but I have completely plateaued for the past 2 weeks. I recently joined a fitness accountability group. Posted my frustrations with the plateau. A bunch of older overweight women are telling me I need to eat more to lose weight and complaining that I am starving myself (therefore not losing weight?).
Is there any truth in their statement? I thought all it is is calories in, calories out? Still doesn't explain the plateau. Any halp?

bump for halp

Are you tracking your calorie intake accurately? Are you updating the amount of calories you need every time you lose a pound? Do you use a calorie tracker app like Lose It?
>>42371887
bitch do you want help or not!?
Is low volume training the ultimate red pill?
The answer is yes, yes it is.
http://www.exrx.net/WeightTraining/LowVolumeTraining.html
One set is literally all you need.
>>42371797
>need
Yeah, 1 set to failure will make you get stronger, if you're a beginner. More volume is more gains though.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22158142
The increased work yields diminishing results, but still more results than if you didn't do the work.
If you want the "most efficient" routine, then doing 1 set to failure with moderate/heavy weight on compound lifts 3 days a week is the way to do it.
If you want "most EFFECTIVE", then you have to bust your ass. Volume is king. That's why all the best powerlifting and bodybuilding programs have a shitload of volume.

>1 set to failure will make you get stronger, if you're a beginner
Wrong, it works for all training levels. The article covers this.
>More volume is more gains though
Not necessarily and the returns are extremely diminishing at best. Plus it doesn't cover the ability to train at far, far, FAR greater intensity+frequency when using only one set.
>If you want "most EFFECTIVE", then you have to bust your ass. Volume is king. That's why all the best powerlifting and bodybuilding programs have a shitload of volume
No, it's because they're all on steroids and that's one of the premises of the article that the training wisdom is passed down from an era where knowledge was gained when steroids were legal. Training this way as a natty is a recipe for disaster.

What are your 1RMs?
At my job I'm considered "office staff" so I am required to wear business casual.
However most of the work I do is on the shop floor and a lot of it is hands on and physical.
Every time I have to lift or move something, my shirt gets very tight and restricting around my arms, shoulders and chest. By the end of the day I'm just about ready to lose my shit.
I know I could buy bigger sized shirts but then all the 50 year old HR girls wouldn't be able to mire as hard
What are some /fit/ approved dress clothes that could help me move around more easily yet keep me looking sexy?
>>42371729
skirts, thongs, lingerie, booty shorts, sports bras
that shirt is awful holy shit
Try Brooks Brothers made to measure shirts
>5'8
>156 lbs
What do I do next? Cut or Bulk?
Body fat %?
>>42371685
19%
my stomach and hips looking fucking fat and i hate it
So should I focus much more on abs and hips?
How do I workout hips`? Anyone got a routine for me?
what exercises focusing on what muscles would help me hold firearms at arms length for longer before becoming fatigued?
lats, shoulders, back, neck, core, legs, forearms
Holding increasingly heavier weight like it was a gun?
>>42371645
Focus on triceps, primarily. Overhead dumbbell press or bench dip would be my suggestions.
Thoughts on sword drills as musle gain/cardio workout? Seems pretty good to me, especially given the different stances and variety of drills.
That looks pretty cool but it's kind of stupid now that swords are irrelevant.
>>42371542
sounds like something a neckbeard would do
>>42371542
Let me put on my fedora and straight up say it. Western sword arts outside of fencing are a joke. It's a dead art, an approximation of what sword fighting might have been like. We just don't know.
Kendo is a much better option.
If I beat off after a workout, Is it killing my gains?
>>42371469
That girl on the right reminds me of my shy scene queen gf from high school and it hurts my heart.
>>42371469
Yes.
If you pull a piece from the gym and use them as post workout hiit, cardio, and stretching then you're in fact boosting your test, lowering stress, and burning excess fat.
Which is good for gains.
And if she didn't fall asleep and is good at message or cooking....jackpot.

THIS VEGAN SAYS BODYBUILDING ISN'T A SPORT
>>42371438
It depends on whatever arbitrary definition of 'sport" you want to use. I'd personally describe bodybuilding as a competition rather than a sport
>>42371438
>Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Bodybuilding is a sport.
>>42371549
Just like poker is a sport
/Fit/ what is your gym crush like?
Anyone actually end up with your gym crush?
I'll start:
>most perfect large squat ass I've ever seen
>looks like she could be an offseason pro-bodybuilder but has an extremely feminine face
>actually lifts heavy (more than a lot of guys) putting all normie girls to shame
>always by herself
>is killing her workout every time I see her
>never texting or taking selfies in the gym
>seems shy but smiles and greets people when approached
>haven't seen her working out in revealing clothing ever
>no matter what she wears that perfect shape can't be hidden
Pic related, about the same amount of muscularity but much larger ass
>>42371388
>big thick ass
>a bit of a belly
>short
>thick legs
>big tits
>only does squats, RDL, hipthrusts and deadlifts
>her ass jiggles in her gym tights
oh god i would bury my face in her, big, fat, sweaty ass cheeks and lick her asshole clean.
her ass is godly
>looks kinda like pic related, just a bit smaller but and a bit larger waist
>>42371388
>/Fit/ what is your gym crush like?
currently crushing on this qt nerdy chick i see in the morning sometimes. spoke to her a couple times, and she seems nice. all i really know about her is that she works at the nearby hospital and likes LOTR
>Anyone actually end up with your gym crush?
one of my old gym crushes, ya. she was a boring lay and i got a gf shortly after we started fucking, so i broke it off with her. don't regret it, but wasn't as great as i had hyped it up in my head
>6'4"
>250lbs of muscle and power
>huge lifts
>sweet hair
>friendly and helpful
>modest
Oh wait thats me
in all seriousness what are the odds he is on steroids?
>>42371379
It's a natty physique, but he looks really young. I'd say if he isn't at least 21 or so, he's probably roiding.
>>42371379
The definition looks kind of "instagram filter" like. I would need an unedited pic to judge properly.
>>42371379
more like what are the odds he's used a shitload of filters and downlighting
Why don't you have a gymbro yet /fit/?
Why do you still lift alone?
>>42371227
i'm shy and don't think i'm gay enough to snag one
>>42371227
I don't know
When I see a guy that actually works out I feel self conscious cause I'm in ayy lmao mode and when I see someone who's skinny I can't trust them to spot me
>>42371227
only guys who knows what a squat is is an old dude that spots me sometimes, but doesn't squat anymore.
What's the simplest way to get into a routine/schedule? I don't want to study and make spreadsheets, I just want to exercise effectively instead of wandering around the gym not knowing what to do. Goal is to drop from 220 to 175(ish) and achieve acceptable aesthetics/muscles/general fitness. What do?
>>42371224
Read the sticky
>>42371224
Doesn't get simpler than that. Add rows or chinups and lat raises, maybe curls too
>>42371224
People just make it complicated, if you have no idea what you are doing just hire a PT for a month or so. If you are a poor fag just use the machines. /fit/ bashes them all the time but they will do.
I bought the gold standard double rich chocolate protein powder and it tastes so fucking bad and has an awful aftertaste, Did i just buy a shitty flavor?
Pretty much anon. Why'd you get double rich?
I think cookies and cream is their best.
>>42371207
>caring about the taste of protein and not which flavor has the best sale
Post/r8/h8 routines
I decided to try and make something myself without following a %-based template. How dumb is this?
Program: ABCABCx
A - Run
>3+ miles, work on shortening time
B - Pull
>Deadlift, Chinup, T-bar Row, Lat pulldown, Facepull, Bicep work
C - Push
>Squat, BB Bench/OHP, DB Bench/OHP, Tricep work, Decline sit up
Progression: On main compounds, do either more weight or more reps than previous workout. That's it. I'm not trying to be a competitive powerlifter, but in 4 years I'd like to be able to put up decent numbers. This is for long term progress.
>>42371167
Switch A with B. You don't want to do squats and deadlifts the day after each other, essentially working the same muscle two days in a row.
cmon guise
>>42371223
Yea but then its BACBAC, doing squats before deads in the middle. wat do
