I sometimes wonder how many vocal haters of these movies are actual TF fans....I'm not saying they are great, but it seems to me Transformers has always been a very niche thing...and it's suspicious to me that so many people have a problem with these movies who didn't seem to exist within the fandom prior to the movies at all

I think so
Let's say that you have to put Cyborg in for diversity reasons. Obviously Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Flash are much bigger than either character. I think MM is a much more essential and cooler JL member than Aquaman (not that I hate him).

In honor of Rebecca Sugar's 30th birthday, I'm gonna tell you the true story of everyone's favorite cartoonist, Rebecca Sugar.
Rebecca Sugar started out life as just a toilet, her father was a grill and her mother was a Beavis from Beavis and Butthead after being turned female due to an indecent with a 19th dimension alien over a bottle of cheese-water. As time pasted Rebecca grew from a toilet to a calculator to a guy to a hermaphrodite and finally into a 10 year old girl. She was very shy and loved animals, at least until a bunny rabbit robbed her for her sandwich and traumatized her, but until then animals were her only friends.
When she turned 16 she decided to stop being such an introvert and boldy went out into the world with a napkin in her shoe and love in her liver, and then a huge frozen ball of poo poo was dropped from a plane crushed her and then she died. She got better though, and woke up in her bed wondering if this was the afterlife, or it was a dream, or something else, but then she stopped caring and boldly went back out into the world with caution in her liver rather than love.
She made her way to the record store after being handed a razor given to her by a very stoned Steve Harwell and she picked up Death's album Scream Bloody Gore.
She took the record back home and listened to it and the album inspired her to take up a career in art! Going back out into the world, she bought a pencil, got to drawing like there was no tomorrow.
That is the true story of everyone's favorite cartoonist, Rebecca Sugar..

Nope, you're in for a fun ride, though! Just don't expect it to be exactly like the movie. The movie captured the spirit, but the story's quite a bit different.

Mignola's Hellboy universe is easily the most consistently well-written comic franchise ever made. Even its low points are good. Read the spinoffs like BPRD, Abe Sapien, and Lobster Johnson too if you enjoy Hellboy.

The comics are horror themed, so a bit different from the movies. The characters are fairly accurate, though.
Honestly, the reason co doesnt talk about it that much is because there isnt much to bitch about. Its very solid.
Id recommend checking out a recommended reading order list if you really wanna dive into the Mignolaverse. The B.P.R.D. series is simply amazing, so check that out for sure.
