To go on about the shared universe thing, yeah, it's a retcon. The original stuff doesn't match up with the TF stuff because otherwise GI Joe and China and etc would've been talking about half the world being blitzed by giant fucking robots and billions dying. So even though they try to connect it, the details don't add up because they weren't made to add up.

Making it a connected universe, it's a soft reboot at best. Also trying to latch onto TF popularity is a terrible idea because it's a fragile popularity at best currently and trying to stick in bunches of stuff no one cares about otherwise if they came here for giant robots will kill those readers interests.

That said, I like the GI Joe and ROM tie in's. Don't give a fuck about Micronaughts or MASK, those properties probably need to stay dead.

Really loved this second part, but I can't get into Special Missions, they seem two very different universes.

I mean. Snake Eyes: AOC has a LOT of ninjas in, and perhaps not coincidentally is the weakest of the Costa stories.
But Cobra v2 is essentially the first half of the Cobra Files story; Cobra and Cobra II are a separate one, but it's equally good.
