Don has been a God to the Transformers fandom for decades, probably when you were still a kid. Definitely since before a lot of IDW fans were even born. Like, Dreamwave's art, take it or leave, it, was mindblowing to us because we weren't used to seeing Transformers drawn in such a heavily detailed way in an official capacity. And Don was doing it even before that, in an UNofficial capacity,

So yes, it was ugly, and we disliked it, but it was Don. So we gave it some leeway. Besides, I'd say that the art itself isn't really bad beyond the faces being too muddled up. Even then, though, I'm not a fan of the designs. Don was trying to ape the movie look, but still stick to the basic G1/IDW designs. so everything is really fragmented, but without the same logic as the fragmentation in the movie designs.
