I'm in between midterms, so it's time to cook. Today we're making pasta Genovese, slowcooked beef chuck and red onions.

We'll be using:
1kg beef chuck
2kg red onions
1/4 kg bacon
2 carrots
1 rib of celery
Salt & Pepper
MSG
Olive oil
White wine
And rigatoni pasta

I've done some prep, so let's get started.

Once peeled the onions get to boil for a few minute to soften before slicing them up. Peeling this amount of onions is a royal pain in the ass too.

So I just made soy milk for the first time. Is it supposed to taste like shit?

(the okara burgers i made were pretty good though)

Did you just use soybeans and water? Cause I tried one of those pure soy milk brands once and it was awful. It was like drinking tofu.

I don't know what "natural flavour" the big brands include, but it's so much better.
>>
>Soy milk

Just stop. If you are defective to the point that you can't or won't consume animal products, then either kill yourself (best option) or make some new recipes involving vegetables; don't try to imitate common recipes with fagged-out bullshit substitute products.

Is Malt Vinegar the least useful vinegar? It seems like its entire purpose is to be put on fried fish, and it doesn't even add flavor to anything else.

It's certainly no where near as useful as its other vinegar cousins with their hundreds of different applications. Maybe I'm missing something.

Is there any reason to have malt vinegar in the kitchen if you aren't frying fish regularly? Does it go in anything else?

Chine is traditionally served with malt vinegar.
>>
>>8693029
>t's certainly no where near as useful as its other vinegar cousins

Why? What makes you say that? I've used malt vinegar to make pickles, in BBQ sauce, gastrique, to cut the fattiness of rich soups/stews, to cook greens (collards, kale)...
>>
>>8693029

I use it as a base for marinades all the time. Especially for chicken.

1 cup malt vinegar
.5 cup brown sugar
2 Tbs salt
2 Tbs smoked paprika
1 Tbs black pepper
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp minced garlic
1 small minced onion

Marinade over night, minimum 12hrs. Throw on the grill, shits dope.

Which burgers do you prefer, McDonalds or Burger King? I think while McDonalds may do many things better (fries, chicken comes to mind), when it simply comes down to burgers, for me, Burger King has them beat in the meat

I know it's a bit of a meme that Burger King sucks, but honestly I find their burger beef patties to be more flavorful as well as their cheese and ingredients being tastier, though McDonalds probably has the best ketchup

Can I get some help from my Chinese pengyous here? Or any cook that know Chinese

I've got this recipe that I want to try because it looks like sth I loved eating when I was living in Beijing, but the last two steps I can't translate well.

http://www.douguo.com/cookbook/1343377.html
Do you have to take out the liquid marinade in step 4 and cook it in a pan until it reduces, then add it back to the meat?
Also in steps 4 and 5 I don't get what bakes and for how long...

Please /ck/, you're my last hope
谢谢大家

Reusing a marinade is 3rd world. It's not good food safety sense. Killed bacteria still produce toxins.

Just make it fresh.

if anything else (stir fry etc), probably white meat

Dark meat, always. I fucking hate white meat, and when I cook a whole chicken, I gave the entire breast to my dog

If you have a vitamin b12 deficiency, sure.
Mostly faggoty vegans and the like.
Good sources of b12 are liver and shellfish otherwise.
Tablets like these are invariably more expensive than eating properly in the first place though desu senpai
>>
>>8693202
Interesting. I've had a huge fetish to liver foods since I dramatically cut down meat eating.
