Paranormal questions that don't deserve their own thread.
I'll start.
I guess it has to do with visualization.
What do you see when you close your eyes? Does it change with meditation?
I noticed that when I close my eyes I can only see darkness, but this darkness has depth to it. And when I focus on the furthest part of it I can make out some kind of ball or vortex of even darker, ever moving 'smoke(?)' encasing something that gives out light. But when any faint bit of light tries to escape the vortex it quickly gets covered by this black miasma thing.
Any ideas?

Pretty sure that's the rim of your irises you're "seeing".
I put it in quotation marks because you're not technically seeing it in light. It's just due to the lack of light, your eyes sort of just pick up and interpret the small sensations that it usually doesn't pick up at all.

The company I work for uses Whois Harvesting programs to scan for any newly bought domains. On my down time for shits and giggles, I always like to check out the domains that are nothing but long strings of numbers; Most of the time they are just held domains with nothing on them, Sometimes they lead you to spam sites or fake virus alerts so that you have to call some fuck in India to clean all of the virus. Sometimes you'll run across some Chinese gold farming sites. It's always fun to see how stupid they get, and boy do they get stupid.
Earlier today I came across this site, thought it was right up /x/'s alley. The screen cap is there for anyone who doesn't want to go to it.

That's pretty spooky. Like >>18213688 said, there's La Llorona. My friend thinks La Chupacabra is creeping out in the boonies by his house. Another friend says he saw a bruja in the woods in the dead of night. Another was chased by a hellhound in an abandoned house.
I always thought skinwalkers were an obscure southwest thing, and was surprised to see how popular they were on the internet. I have an uncle who said he saw a kachina doll that allegedly represented a skinwalker. Nobody would take him to see it except for one guy who was only very partially indian and he didn't have as much belief as the pure blood indians. Uncle said it was creepy as hell and regretted seeing it, but nothing happened to him. Had an intensely bad string of luck when he tried to take a few artifact shards home, though. He ended up returning them and the indians told him, "Yeah, that happens a lot."
tl;dr: Tons of spooky shit in desert, you're not looking hard enough.

Ever see a talented vocalist shatter a wine glass using only their voice?
A recently deceased man claimed to have unlocked the secret of sound. There are videos online in where he successfully levitates a variety of objects using sound alone. Some believe sound can travel faster than light, and could possibly be the answer to macro scale space travel.
All vibration whether audible or not is sound. They say that vibration could be what makes up reality on a fundamental level. String theory suggests the universe itself is almost like a giant "instrument" being plucked. Like a harp, with intersecting strings all touching.
What is music? We can only perceive a tiny fraction of all vibration that occurs. We use this spectrum to express ourselves, to make music. It inspires us to think, it makes us feel. Music seems to almost have a personality, separate from out interpretation of it. What if music were the language of God? What if music was the language of the Universe? Except our human tools of perception can only detect an interpret a tiny fraction of the possibility. This idea gives a new perspective on the "Humans can never perceive the mind of God" idea. Perhaps we aren't equipped to handle the majesty which lies beyond our range of perception.
Some believe animals are able to perceive "ghosts" or spiritual entities more effectively. Many animals are able to hear vibration(sound) on a frequency much higher than humans. What if the soul was merely a vibration.
In many religions around the world, Music is used to praise God. Some songs were believed to hold special "power" and significance in the eyes of God. What if there are long lost civilizations who understood the role of sound in the Universe.
I've been toying with these ideas after watching a couple documentaries on the subject. I believe there is more than meets the eye, concerning this particular topic.
New ideas are encouraged.

I believe music helps stimulate and recreates patterns of harmony in brain function. Hence its mood changing abilities.

I was a math major and a science/engineering centered school (read, good math program). I also scored extremely high in all of those classes and got a 5 on the Calculus BC AP test. There is nothing magic about this math or any other kind of math.

How much do you guys know about the Masonic god Jahbulon?
I first heard about him reading Alan Moore's "From Hell" where he briefly describes the god as being a combination of Judaism's Yahweh, Egyptian's Ra (or maybe anubis I forget) and a Babylonian God that I forget the name of.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen a discussion about this on /x/ yet and am curious to what you may be able to contribute.

Well not having a body sucks a lot. Its pretty tough to get one lined up, born, educated, etc. The spiritual things you do now, will always help you in your next life, but wasting this one will just keep you in the same place.

What's the point of technological advancement if light speed travel is required to get to other habitable worlds?
Humans can't travel at the speed of light and even if we could it would still take years in a cryo sleep tube to preserve our bodies until we got there.
Mars as you may well know is a dead planet and the only way you can live there is in a bubble or underground, We are probably a pretty long way away from being able to terraform it so i think it's more or less futile.
Now with all that i just stated above in mind, One can start to see technological advancement for what it actually is; A distraction. Something to keep us busy so we don't contemplate the futility of our situation.

Yes, but that's the present generation's problem, not the future's. Very selfish way of thinking. Plus raw propulsion is only one conceived method of space travel.

I actually agree that terraforming Mars for inhabiting is kind of brain dead. Though we could still terraform it to serve as a farm planet and use the resources collected and shipped by an automated system there.

Not really no, that's how you see it. Like I pointed above most likely as a result of your selfish perception that any advancement must directly benefit you.

Only way i see us getting there is if we can figure out how to wormhole within the next 100 years but even at that time frame i don't think capitalism has another 100 years. And the current economic system is already incapable of acomidating the current population.
At some point population levels would have to be culled to prevent the entire world from turning into Brazil.
