Always wanted to play Deus Ex. Thoughts on that game?
>>3624168
It's ok.
>>3624314
Deus Ex is one of the exceptions, mods have allowed Deus Ex threads before.
>>3624704
Mods allow it because they are fan boys. If the mods liked GBA that would be an exception too
Best intro music to a game?
I nominate this;

the FF prelude

Sets the mood perfectly.
It's hard to top this one, I'll be honest.

What gamepad(s) does /vr/ use?
I'm still torn between a FC30 Pro (€30) and a Buffalo SNES (€12). The Buffalo looks more solid, whereas the FC30 would allow me to play also N64 games, thanks to its analogic controls.
>>3623632
I use a PS/2 keyboard I got with my Pentium 90mhz PC General PC in 1995.
Still goes strong to this day but is a bit yellow.
>>3623632
heard the analog on the FC30s are garbage
>>3623641
Good to know.
I have a PAL SNES, i.e. 50Hz
How difficult is it to mod it to 60Hz?
Not hard at all. A rudimentary job if you have any knowledge of soldering, or soddering if you're American.
>>3622954
>soddering
kek
>>3622954
If I'm not mistaken, the SD2SNES will simply play NTSC ROMs at their correct speeds if used on a PAL SNES.
What are some /vr/ approved fansites?

have you fucks considered that sometimes i just want to buy a SNES cart of some game that could be easily sent by regular mail and i dont care if it takes 1-2 months? how the fuck can you guys be such a jews? or theres some kind of scam going on there with your postage service?
>>3621597
It's not our post offices that suck. It's yours, or rather every single other post office in the world. Or at least 75%+ of them.
If it's someone from eBay u are buying from U have to look at it from the sellers perspective. Sending a snes loose game to Italy lets say would cost 20$ let's say. But the seller doesn't want to get screwed so u gotta add tracking. But you can't add tracking to the cheap option so you have to go with the ONLY other option that adds tracking. Which is fucking double or triple the fucking price.
It sucks on both ends.
there are cheaper options from Japan but enough people complain about the speed/reliability that most stores / couriers don't offer them
>>3621640
I never understood why so many eBayers refuse to do business with Italian buyers and sellers
what, exactly, are the allegations?
Does anybody have experience with these Everdrive flashcarts? They have them for a lot of systems and they seem like a dream come true, especially the n64 one since n64 emulation is a mess. But you know, I'd have to send my money to strangers and hope they ship this thing back, so I was wondering if anyone here has tried them out at least to know if they actually work well.
>>3620493
>muh everdrive meme
Buy the actual carts or don't even bother. The library is super small and only has a few outliers in terms of expensive pricing. Literally no excuse.
>>3620495
>Literally no excuse.
What about money? Or time to find a specific cart in this day and age?
>>3620493
i haev them for snes and genesis and its great. if you do get them then make sure you get a good sd card like sandisk pro. cheap nasty sd cards will cause slowdown.
What was your favorite game from this generation?
I have so much N64 nostalgia, but the PS1 was objectively better. That being said, I would be more excited to go play an N64 than a PS1.
>>3618162
RE2. Probably my GOAT game. Luckily it's on both N64 and PS1 too.
Either Perfect Dark for N64 or Thrasher:Skate and Destroy for PS
Most of the classics I had/played on other systems
I always hear about adult retrogamers with kids wanting to keep all their old games around so the kiddos can enjoy them too, but does this ever work out? my brother even built a homemade arcade stick and cabinet around his super nintendo the perfect height for a child to play on, and they don't even like that shit. would rather watch lets plays on youtube
I'm going to show my kids my favorite games but not fucking indoctrinate them into any obligations.

And you liked your dads toys growing up?
>>3604176
My siblings and I played the shit out of my dad and uncle's cowboys & indians figures whenever we visited our grandparents.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+ Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

Why would such a thing exist?
why do red colors tend to bleed more than others?
Why are these games so damn good? Which one does /vr/ like the best?
I basically have only played through the 4th, but I am pleased as punch to see that the charm in it was already present from the very first game.
It has to mainly be the music and sound effects.
This but it was my first gameboy game so I am probably very biased.
>>3592834
It pains me to know that not only are there shitters out there who have never played/look down on Wario Land 1, but also believe Wario Land 3 was the best Wario Land.
Swear to fucking god.
What simulation/tactical RPGs are you playing Anon? What's your favorite? Make recommendations to one another. Just have fun and talk about one of the best genres in video games..
I was thinking of trying to play through Fire Emblem 1 and Hoshigami. I'm not sure if I should do the original release for both or their DS remakes. Any suggestions from someone who has played through both?
>>3629978
The NES FE1 is super slow, has a bad inventory system, and the AI is dumb. There's also dumb mechanics like certain classes being unable to promote. The DS version has issues but is certainly better.
>>3629985
How faithful is it to the NES release? That's kind of my biggest concern since I don't wanna miss one of the biggest games in the genre.
>>3629991
Its pretty faithful. Some people actuslly complain that its too faithful. The only "extra" maps and characters appear in either the "Normal" difficulty or if you play very badly. The mechanics are updated, the game's balanced a bit better, and everything is faster should you want it to be. Biggest change is the ability to reclass, which is optional.
