So when I was a kid my dad had this disc of a bunch of games on it... the only game I can remember the actual name of was God of Thunder, but there were about 20 games on this disc and I really want to play some of them again.
One of the games was where you switched between 3-4 vikings, each had a different power that you could use to progress.
Another was sort of a Space Invaders game but with a fighter jet.
Another was like a traffic game where you chose weather the light was red or green or something.
When you exit the program you hear an Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying "Hasta la vista, baby."
Does anyone know what i'm talking about!? Where can I find these games again!?

>One of the games was where you switched between 3-4 vikings, each had a different power that you could use to progress.
That's Lost Vikings. I'm surprised you don't know it, it's very famous.
>>4206368
Yeah I don't know, I've just never heard anyone IRL talk about it... it was very fun but back then I don't think I could progress much... I would like to try it again now!

Luck you it is free from Blizzard's website right now. Pick up Blackthorn while your at it.
Hi /vr/,
I just got a Raspberry Pi and have set it up for Emulation.
I'm looking for a good RPG a-la Final Fantasy 2 & 3 (NA versions, see pic). I want to come home from work, boot up a game, sit down, have fun, and play.
What recommendations have you got for me? I've never been a big RPG guy besides Pokemon, and I really enjoyed FF2&3. Thanks.
I recommend you get yourself a snes and a copy of the game
Fuck off emubaby faggot. Just look up a list of top RPGs. Retard.
As someone that enjoyed FF2 and FF3 when I was little, I would suggest ones like:
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Lufia 2
Super Mario RPG
You might enjoy some other ones but they might be a bit odd or "off" depending on your taste like:
Earthbound
Secret of Evermore
Breath of Fire
7th Saga
Robotech
just naming a few off the top of my head.
you have one nanosecond to defendor explainthis
>>4205959
I know this isn't retro, butremember that flash game Tontie?
>>4205959
that jaguar controller is an after market one and has extra buttons
>>4205959
The jaguar controller was for switching weapons in third person games
Is there any way to play Sinistar anymore?
RUN
It's on the Williams Arcade collection that's been ported to most fourth and fifth gen consoles
Ask mook to activate it on /b/. Haven't seen that shit floating around in like a decade.
where is my X Anime Capcom?
>>4205417
You mean the Rockman OVA back in the 90s?
>>4205417
You mean Day of Sigma?

Here
What are your favorite old-school visual novels? I played Yu-No a while ago and it was quite the wild ride.Eriko is objectively best girl.
Kanon ENTERPRISE EDITION
True Love.
Although it's more of a life simulation than a VN.
I recently started Policenauts again, not sure how much that counts. Thinking of checking out the PS1 version of Snatcher afterwards.
Any good VNs on the Dreamcast? I got one but have yet to get many games for it yet.
I'll just leave this here:

Nice. As a late 90s born numale millennial I love eceleb shit. I especially love it when it's about consoles and games that came out before I was born.
first, i havn't original console. Play all my old retro games on my pc. Search now a good fronted for it. Emucontrolcenter is good and easy.
Do not like retroarch and launch box.
I just use Windows Explorer
>>4205263
Same here. There's no good way to get box art for individual games though. But then again, the automated scrapers that I've tried for a couple of the other front-ends did a pretty unsatisfactory job of doing it automatically anyways. I just view the games list for each machine in list view and have Windows sort them alphabetically, with a special section at the top for favorites and games sorted by sales rank (!001, !002, etc).
Let's have a NES thread. All I'm seeing is 4th and 5th gen threads recently. Discuss your favorite and/or underrated games and recommend games to each other.
I've been playing Willow, Devil World and Blaster Master recently, among other things. I don't usually like puzzle games, but really like Devil World. Willow is fun so far, but slow and clunky in spots and Blaster Master is fun but hard. Has anyone played these, especially Devil World, or want to recommend NES games?
Haha, I played some of Devil World for the first time not long ago.
I was looking through random ROM names and saw 'Devil World' and thought it would be good for a laugh. I was not familiar with the manga at the time.
It's a really cool game. I played up until the underground maze area.
I had a lot of fun in the beginning trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do. Meanwhile the town had been turned into demons. I really got the sense that it starts of in an ordinary town with ordinary friendships, suddenly the people of the world become demons. I'm actually interested in reading the manga now.
Recommended games from me, one game that might be a little underrated is Sword Master. I really like the music of this game. The gameplay is satisfying too.
Another game that really surprised me when I played it through for the first time about 10 years ago was Kid Icarus. When I played it as a kid I never made it to the first dungeon. I thought the whole game was vertical scrolling. The game is very rewarding when you put in the effort.
There are better shooters on the system, but there's something so charming about Dragon Spirit. It's my go-to game when I just wanna chill.
Got any vidya that goes well with touchscreen /vr?
Mine's Thrash Rally for Neo-Geo. It is surprisingly responsive and controllable, the car is not too sensitive which is a problem with many emulated games on touch controls. It is my savior in long train trips.
What's yours?
>>4205112
I use a mini USB to Micro to plug a PS3 controller in to my phone.
Sonic games cus they're all about momentum and just use one button. Any jrpg/stategy rpg, Shining Force/Super Robot Wars especially. Castlevania is decent before SNES cus it's so clunky and you're locked into movements so any microadjustments won't fuck up your jumps. A lot of actiony games are difficult, I wouldn't dare try a Mario game cus that's too much precision/buttonholding. A lot of stuff does work well, just don't feel like attempting to beat Ninja Gaiden on a touchscreen cus that's gonna be impossible.
>>4205154
JRPGs seem like legit choice. I want to try some lightgun shooters and top-down racers too, they seem like the obvious choices. 1000 miglia and World rally are also good with digital d-pad.
That last level was some of the worst bullshit I have ever encountered in a video game.
Jedi Knight General
Mo' liike Mysteries of the SHIT, starring Mara Sue. DF2: Jedi Knight was pretty good though.
>>4205030
Agreed, worst JK by far
It felt like a fan made pack but it was fun. The last level is unique. Instead of a corny boss battle with shitty saber combat you actually act like a jedi and refuse to kill your friend...the one you went to rescue.
The aateroids were tedious. The spacesport was amazing. The jail and rancor was fun.
This might be too meta and if so I'm sorry but I'm genuinely curious. I've noticed a lot of crossboard traffic between /vr/ and /m/ which makes sense considering both boards like stuff from 20-40 years ago and share common themes like pic related, so I'm wondering what are some of the other boards you all post on? Also to keep it on topic with retro games how do the boards tie in with your interest in retro video games?
>>4204754
Well not /v/ that's for sure. /vg/ sometimes but the neo-geo general is obviously more KoF oriented than anything else.
>>4204754
>ranger x
Nice!
Ranger X and Bloodlines and Alisia Dragoon are the 3 best looking games on Genesis. In my opinion.
>>4204754
I have kept my status as a lurker in most boards and only post in /vr/ since I saw it from the start and I could feel truly "inside" of the community.
Apart of this I do lurk in basically only /jp/ and the homebrew general in /vg/. ocassionally some other stuff if I feel like it but not really a regular of other boards.
So my weebshit friend keeps telling me to play the classic Mega Ten games but won't tell me where to start because he is a colossal faggot. I'm fine with playing them, but I ain't too good with dungeon crawlers as it is and I've heard that for this specific series it's all real hard on top of that.
Any chart or advice on how I can ease into them?
>>4204720
Play SMT4 first, then you will be prepared to tackle a less polished and more difficult yet also broken and exploitable version. I recommend SMT2 because it has the best battle theme and it's a good jolly demonic romp with lots of sleep bullets and marin karin spam.

Going strictly for /vr/-era SMT, start with the first one, then play SMTII.
There's a SFC remake of the first two Megami Tensei titles that some anons seem to enjoy. I haven't gotten around to it, so I can't vouch for it. SMT if... is never going to be translated, so learn Japanese if you want to play it.
There's also Revelations: The Demon Slayer for GBC that's like a Dragon Warrior/SMT hybrid of sorts. I played that first, truth be told, before I even knew what the Megaten metaseries was.
Retro----------
Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei (first two games bundlied in an updated SNES release)
Shin Megami Tensei I (third game)
Shin Megami Tensei II (fourth game)
Shin Megami Tensei: If... (a sidestory game that gave rise to the Persona games)
non-Retro----------
SMT III: Nocturne
SMT: Strange Journey (sidestory game that's decent but too heavyhanded with its HUMANS ARE THE REAL MONSTERS message)
SMT IV (haven't played it)
SMT IV: Apocalypse (some sidestory sequel kind of shit. supposed to be really good but veers too much into Persona power of friendship territory, apparently)
Devil Kids, Raidou, Devil Summoner, Persona, Digital Devil Saga and the other spinoffs mostly boil down to SMT with a twist (DDS is SMT meets Final Fantasy X and is more character and plot focused, Devil Kids is SMT but for kids and was made to compete with the Pokemon craze, Raidou is SMT as an action RPG period drama, etc.). They're all very good games. For ease of entry, DDS is the the all-around best of the bunch as are Persona 3 and up and then the Raidou games. Not that I don't like P1 and P2, I'm just saying they're much easier to get into.
You sound like a total faggot anyway so you're probably not even going to finish any of these games.
After getting my CRT Emudriver 2.0/GroovyMAME Arcade PC working I thought I'd see if I could get that wonderful CRT goodness working with RetroArch. Sure enough after some configuration it's running beautifully.
The problem I'm having though is with the Vulkan renderer. I'm hoping to use it specifically for PS1 games and the Beetle PSX HW core's PGXP features. The problem is unless I'm on the latest drivers RetroArch won't start. That's a problem since the CRT Emudriver is based on an older driver version.
I'm unsure if it's the driver itself or a combination of the current card I'm using and the old drivers. Unfortunately I don't have a newer Radeon card on hand to test the idea.
The card I'm using is a Radeon HD 7700 which is the oldest card with Vulkan support. Would updating to a newer card possibly get this setup working or would it be all in the drivers?
What is Vulkan?
>>4204694
you want to use pgxp at such low resolutions? but its much less noticeable then. i would just stick to software cpu version.
>>4204792
It is much less noticable, but I had it in my head to enhance the ps1 experience as best I could without upping the resolution. Upping the color depth and getting rid of the dithering pattern makes a huge enough difference, I just wanted to see if other options could be available too.
i have never seen a sticker like that on a genesis game.
>>4204672
100% fake but no worries OP I'll take that off your hands for a small fee of course.
>>4204672
It's real, they just slapped their Virgin sticker over the Acclaim logo that was molded on the cartridges. I believe Acclaim manufactured their games in Mexico but sold off excess stock to other publishers.
>>4204718
how come other jungle book carts have sega on it too?
