Lookin 4 some new sonic adventures in the fan made realm
Might check out sonic 3 resort island and robitnik's revenge 2 later
No. You can hold it just fine and it won't hurt to play with, but it's not really comfortable in the sense that your hands form to it naturally. It's also a dust magnet and gets sticky just from the dust.
>>4211690
What is it made of?
My regular plastic controllers don't get dust unless I haven't played the console in months?
I'm looking to increase my performance in fighting games, shmups, and racing games without buying large bulky arcade sticks and wheels (running out of space for retro in my apt).
Is this worth the $70 it goes for on ebay?
Why is the silver color one only $35 on ebay?
What do you think of this /vr/? It can do 240p, 480i, and 480p
I don't think much of it at all. Am I supposed to care?
>comic sans
Why should I trust this?
Seems like an okay thing to have. Would keep me from having to switch inputs on my TV or force VGA mode. Would also free up my one VGA input for my retro PC.
Heya
I grew up in Australia where we always had PAL machines. I did not even know about NTSC full screen and speed in those days. Now that I have all the old consoles I play all my old fav games.
(Mainly talking SNES here)
I have a snazzy SNES now with region and pal/ntsc switch. I leave it on NTSC as its a no-brainer right? full screen and full game speed, as it was meant to be played.
But you know what? I get massive slowdown in games that I have never seen before. This ~17% faster gaming puts a massive load on my SNES and makes it chug. Its pretty annoying really.
I know PAL is ~17% slower but I think this spare horsepower is used well to keep the games from dipping down low noticably like they do ATM when I play in NTSC.
I am thinking there is some merit to playing in PAL still. Thoughts?
>>4211614
I'm not sure about the exact technical aspects of it, but I remember goose (A goldeneye speedrunner) explaining the reason the GE runners use different regional versions of the game; He said the PAL version is generally used on laggy levels like Train. So you're probably on the right track.
>>4211614
What SNES board do you have? I have two 1CHIP boards and can't solder for shit but I wish I could do this mod

Does anyone know where to buy an official Saturn controller for a reasonable price? Seems like the prices have gone up a lot. I'm willing to settle for third party controllers as well. Just need to know the best one.
There are no good 3rd party ones. Should had stocked up when they were $15 new a few years ago.
>>4207235
Man that sucks. Hopefully I could be lucky and snag a deal somewhere.
Send an email to Sega. Maybe they have some.
What is the finest sidescrolling beat em up that ever hit the arcades? I am looking for one game to make my own, to play on a regular basis and eventually master it.
So far I was planning on going for Denjin Makai 2. It is not as blatant a quarter muncher as most Capcom games and I really like the amount of variation, the moves and combos.
Now I just saw how many incredible brawlers IGS made. Now I am on the fence of switching to The Gladiator or Knights Of Valour 2 Plus, since 3 is apparently not yet playable in MAME.
Has anyone played those IGS games? How hard are they to 1CC, are they fun long term? From a first glance they seem to be massive and offer lots of replayability.
So far Denjin Makai 2 is my favourite.
>>4207216
That's like asking for the shiniest turd.
You're not going to have a lot of options if you consider Capcom games to be quarter munchers. Most belt-them-ups are a lot worse than those.
Try Double Dragon, Golden Axe, or Light Bringer. Denjin Makai 2 is probably your best bet though.

4+ STR 4+ STAM LEATHER BELT? ARGH!
LEVEL 18?

Is he right /vr/?
Nintendo (like a lot of Japanese companies) are a very traditional company, it made sense for them to stick with their established icon. History would prove them right.
In his weirdness, Mario is a lot more charming and genuine than those mascots conceived by the intellectual equivalent of IVF in a boardroom (GOTTAGOFAST). He simply has a lot of character.
>>4207217
God dammit I'm tired of spoilers not working properly.
That was supposed to beGOTTAGOFASTwithout the whitespaces in between, but 4chan is for some reason incapable of doing this (as contrasted with other popular imageboards).
Was it better than Goldeneye?
>>4207149
wasnt that the game where you could walk 20 meter and then dropped to the floor because you were out of stamina, because you were carrying too much shit
idk but i think FFIX > FFXII
>>4207149
Frontline has the best music
/vr/ I was looking to get some advice.
One of the worst Sins I can think of a game store doing is slapping their label over the original. I have a few games like this from collecting over the years I was wondering if anyone had a sure method to get these bastards off without damaging the original.
>>4207096
there's a few that I've tried over the years that seems to work for me
first, use a blow drier over it for a few minutes. after a while, take a plastic razorblade underneath the sticker and slowly try to peal it away. then you can clean the residue off with goo gone
If it's "cured" label-on-label and the second label had as good or better adhesive it'll never come off without taking the label beneath off too. That rarely happens though, except in the case of second gen labels which for some reason have pretty shitty glue themselves.
If the tag is vintage though, might as well just leave it. The tag in the OP should come off just with a little heat. I wouldn't put goo-gone on the original label though, I personally just stick and unstick some fresh adhesive (like a loop of duct tape) to clean off remnants of old adhesive.
>>4207102
No goo gone, it will at away at the glue under the label.
Why are there still no PSXemulators with texture replacement options?
>>4207076
Need something easily implemented, and devs are usually trying to improve performance not add features. Texmod exists and i think that works with some emus.
>>4207076
It's per game basis, you edit the game files, not the emulator
What's the absolutely best looking /vr/ adventure game and why is it Curse of Monkey Island?
>>4206769
Borrowed Sega cd from friend in high school
>loaned him curse and escape
>he forgot and only gave me back disc 1 of each
>didn't realize for three years
>I have hisbsewer shark manual
Darn it Matt!

Hearty Beef and Potato Goodsoup?
inb4 obligatory Riven
inb4 obligatory contrarian and counter-contrarian shitposting about Riven
Curse is really good at the whole bayou thing, btw, it plays pretty well on the setting.
Hey /vr/ I need your help.
You know when you remember an old videogame from your early childhood but can't place a name to it or even a console and it drives you crazy? I've got that bad right now.
I can't even trust what I remember is correct because I was like 7-8 when I played this but from what I remember it was a top-down style game with like 32 bit graphics where you play as a boy and girl that you can switch between controlling and you're in this haunted mansion trying to fight and evade things like flying books and such.
Can anyone help me out?
...Secret of Mana?
>>4206634
Hmm nah that's not it.
>>4206610
It's most likely not it but Zombies Ate My Neighbors? https://youtu.be/F9TnRPqNQUk
You don't switch between characters but it was 16 bit and had spooky levels. It might help to know what system this could have possibly been on. Playstation, Dreamcast, N64, PC, Apple II?
>lose my Starcraft CD
>download it when it was released for free by Blizzard
>a few glorious months of playing nostalgic UMS maps
>Remastered version finally comes out
>now the Starcraft home screen is filled with a giant, ugly-ass ad
>logging into battle.net is now slow as fuck
>new update required for multiplayer every time I get the urge to play Starcraft again
How did Blizzard ruin things this much?
Someone surrendered the source code cd instead of dumping it.
They didn't construct additional pylons.
>>4206551
I had just forgotten about this, and now that I've recalled it, I'm every bit as assmad as I was when I first heard it. Makes my fucking boil.
Just like that other fucking moron (another fucking reddit idiot, of course) who thought the best use of an original Xbox Dev Kit was to wipe it and turn it into a useless underpowered linux box.
Does anyone own one of these?
I just got one, I don't understand how saving on the v3 works. I started a file in Resident Evil 2 up, just to check what format the game saves in.
I deleted this save completely to start my real file, but even though I have completely deleted the file on the SD card, I still have the option of loading my game.
Where are the games actually saved if not in "ED64/SAVE"?
>>4206528
I've had one of these for maybe a year now and I'm still not entirely sure.
But I'm pretty happy with it. Saves all my 007 stuff and then some and I don't have to worry about doing anything. I have a save folder on my computer but I'm not even sure what it does
>>4206609
But how do you back it up?
A huge reason I got one of these is because I don't trust my batteries to last or be reliable.
>>4206693
its on your sd card so you take that save file and put it on your computer. When you need it you take it off your comp and back on the sd.
Am i right? anyone want to correct me?
>ITT: we discuss our memories with video game game shows
>>4206457
I actually own a pair of hot gloves from video power. They were produced for a planned episode that never happened due to cancellation but you can see similar ones given to kids so they don't get the controllers sweaty.
>>4206547
Wow, that's actually really cool.
I had this on VHS as a kid and watched it religiously, even though I didn't get a chance to play either game until adulthood.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrFl7rFYmhg
I still love watching it, but now it's just because it's hilarious.
