Why are there no 100v-240v aftermarket PSUs for the Playstation 1 and Saturn, which both had internal PSUs, when there are several ones made for the N64, which had a sorta internal one with a special connector?
The Samsung Saturn had a 110-220v power supply if I'm not mistaken. Good luck finding one though.
What is the point of aftermarket PSUs?
I thought it was only the laser assemblies that wore out and needed to be replaced?

>What is the point of aftermarket PSUs?
Lower heat and/or more efficiency. It helps preserve the life of the laser, which seem to degrade from heat.
I am looking for a "case" to mod a PSU into, and just have some sort of connection from the psu to the game unit. I was eyeballing an xbox 360 power brick as a shell....I have a pile of equipment coming in the mail, and this won't start for a few weeks. I am sure there are "hobby" boxes that would fit my needs...I am just terribly cheap and love to shop at thrift shops.
Huh, looks like they did decide to move to an octagonal gate. So much for having a "finished mold" with "no room for modifications". Do you think there's hope for this project yet?

A and B are way too far down for being the most used buttons.
joy stick too far up left and d pad too far down right.
This render looks much worse and less polished than the so-called prototype I saw posted before. Is this actually newer? If so, it raises some alarms about the whole project.
helo, i am trying to remember the name of some roguelike i was briefly adjacent to once upon a time.
this was years and years ago, so we're talking ascii graphics
it seemed to have a tropical island theme, but with tunnels between the islands? and monkeys? and cannibals and wild animals? but then also generic fantasy shit too, underground? and npcs you could talk to and get quests from? it remains stuck in my mind for some reason, probably because the tropical island/pirates theme sounded so unusual to me in roguelikes at the time, and it clashed so weirdly with the magical high fantasy shit that was also in it?
maybe my mind is falling apart and ive accidentally conglomerated the memories of multiple roguelikes into one bizarre mash
Can't help you, but try >>>/vg/186880797
/vr/ isn't that big on roguelikes

Possibly IVAN?
Post art that evokes that feeling of adventure
>>4214241
It's a shame how shitty the actual game is, beautiful art like that deserves better.
I absolutely love this piece from Breath of Fire IV, maybe my favorite art of any game.
i would like a game that combined the basic aesthetics and mechanics of river city ransom with the open-world features and stuff of the recent grand theft auto games.
i would like to be able to grind a gang of vigilantes in a fun 8-bit world, eat hamburgers, learn kung-fu techniques, buy expensive houses and things, travel to other cities, and collect bouncing coins.
that would be nice.

this is literally the ultimate concept for a game

Starting at the bottom, OP? Good to see you hate the PoS too, but i can name at least one game worse.
They are updating their design and put a octagonal gate into it!
Yet, it's still not perfect, the octagonal wasn't "perfect", like the one they are producing, it was a little distorted on the diagonal edges.
That's the only thing they need to nail the controller down.
The A+B tilt is ergonomics, and will probably feel great.
Here's an example of the original gate.
That's the only thing left. They're claiming that their analog has no dead zone and is calibrated, they also commented a comment about testing it with the N64 controller homebrew.
I guess they'll release a pretty perfect controller.
There are people complaining about the change, though. I fucking hate normies.
I find the C-buttons strange, they have that "delta thing" instead the triangles on the buttons.
I hope they fix that.
>>4213934
People are complaining about having octagonal gates? Do they have any idea how uncomfortable using a stick without a gate is? Holding the stick in any particular location is difficult because your thumb will get tired and start to drift little by little. You'll be constantly correcting for the small amount of drift which is tiring and frustrating.
Do this for a game
Best Dungeon: Ice Palace
Worst Dungeon: Tower of Hera
Best Boss: Mothula/Blind/Lanmola
Worst Boss: Kholdstare/Vitreous/Arrghus
Best Time: 2:26:39
This is A Link to the Past

>Best Boss
Twinrova
>Worst Boss
All of the child bosses.
>Best Time
Never timed myself. I've finished this game so many times, though. I'm sure I could do it pretty quickly.

What would be a good android phone for retro gaming in terms of controlls not that much for performance as even my cheap chink phone does just fine with emulating even ps1 games
Kill yourself.

>retro gaming must be savored
>do not consume like so much dollar burgers at mcdonalds
>take a bite out of each level and savor it
>you also must sit down
>on a couch
>in front of a tv
>you must never look down when you play retro for it is a dignified hobby
>>4211776
Why, I'm sure I probably played more retro games even back then but I guess you're only for the nostalgia trip.
is the madcatz t.e still the stick to get or something finally came along that's better and cheaper? also is there a multi-system connector so you can use it on og xbox, dc, ps2/3, ps4, xbone, xbox360?
I made my own multi system stick. I got a tek innovations case and a ps360+ controller board. Its nice because you basically plug it into any system with a rj45 (Ethernet) cabble to whatever system you want. you can make your own cables easy as fuck to. its really nice if you build a stick with rj45. I even wired a db15 cable onto to the board so it works with neo geo. I probably could of gotten rj45 to db15 but I couldnt find a pinout for it. The only thing that sucks is the ps360+ has the time out shit for ps4. You could probably find something similar that doesnt have the time out. if you dont feel like building your own you could probably just get a TE and mount a neutrik on it and put a ps360+ or equivalent inside of it. any way pic related. the stick i made is on the top.

HORI, especially hayabusa
Do any other RPGs have as good a battle system as pic related? I recently played Chrono Cross and now I'm sitting here wondering why more games didn't copy/build upon this style, because it holds up rather well even in the face of modern RPGs.
I won't bother keeping this retro, just mentioning battle systems I had fun with
grandia series (even the gbc game)
baten kaitos origins, treasure hunter g, mahjong taisen (not a stiff competition on the NES tho), FFX, valkyrie profile, breath of fire 4, super mario RPG
also planning to check out radiant historia, smt nocturne and knights in the nightmare
do the battle network games count as turn based?
>>4213871
Because it's shit. It's literally just "spam attack until you're allowed to use a spell" and said spells can only be used once per battle. Also consumable items now count as spells for some reason.
Literally every game mentioned in this post >>4213981 plus Chrono Trigger had better battle systems.
skies of arcadia
ITT: shit games that you found very enjoyable and pretty fucking rad
This game wasn't shit though

Clearly it is not shit if you enjoy it unless it is something like Life Is Strange.
