I've killed too many hours of my life playing through this and Rondo, and there are undoubtedly some cool extras in the SS version but it's pretty annoying playing a game like this in Japanese. I can't see a translation patch for this ever happening either, it doesn't seem like anybody gives a shit about it. Hell the PS1 jpn version has a translation patch just because people hated the English voice acting enough.
Emulation wise, it runs pretty well on SFF, I haven't tried yabause yet, I've only ever tried thst on my shit computers that run linux.
It's kind of frustrating though, having to leave some pretty cool twists untouched on my end though..

I played the saturn version first, and no, there is no point playing it over the playstation versions, unless you know japanese, or you really want to play as Maria, which won't last that long. The extra area is kinda obnoxious.
Blame SOA for not giving a shit about it, I could see myself replaying the saturn version with an english traduction.
Play it just to test out the new features. The new areas and enemies are hella lame.
Some of the new items and features are kinda cool though. The dash command, the third hand, etc.
But worth it? Not really.

If you want something new. Level 1 saves for Sotn. Alucard is set to Level 99 with Level 1 stats. Meaning he can't level up. He has enough MP to clear the game.
How the fuck do I close the new 'quick loot bar' in the new Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear?

did anything of note come out of the net yaroze? i know the wonderwitch had some incredible shit like dicing knight and judgement silversword, but you never hear anything about the ps1 homebrew devkit.
Blitter Boy
Hover Racing
>but you never hear anything about the ps1 homebrew devkit.
Most people haven't even heard about the PS1 homebrew devkit. Definitely not on a board this casual.

What hardcore board do you post on then, hotshot?

That's pretty neat. I didn't realize there were 88 levels. When they're all put into a grid like that it doesn't look like very many at all.
>>3102546
>I didn't realize there were 88 levels.
There's more stages in SMB 3 than in Super Mario World.
>>3102546
I always thought it was 90, are there really only 88?
>this kill the Genesis
it really is pretty dead in 2016
>>3098954
Nah, it's a lot more living than SNES.
Are Super Nintendos still produced? But Megadrives are.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.
>Produce OC! Get out your real cameras and take beautiful pictures of your CRTs displaying recognizable characters with the kind of beautiful accuracy that brings tears to the eyes of young and old alike! If you take 100 photos, at least one of them will turn out alright! (maybe)
>Try to be as detailed as possible when asking info on a specific model. As always, google is your friend, and we are your friends with benefits. Older archived threads aren't a bad place to look either.
>Share appreciation for others choice of technology and personal philosophy of gaming. As always show courtesy in your discussion and moderate yourselves first.
Discussion of video processing and scaling devices is okay, but try to keep the focus on CRTs and CRT accessories

Is CRT emulation lame or cool?
I dont think so really I think scanline filters are fine but thats about it... Nothing beats the real thing imo
>>3073679
I like my games crisp and clear, thank you.
Hey /vr/ think you can help me out?
I got a trip to go down and see my friends in Louisiana this Thursday for the week. I'm supposed to bring my N64 so we can play some local games together, But I recently found out my other N64 controller broke down, so I've only got 1 working.
Usually, you buy offline, but I need a replacement by wednesday night and all the places I found don't offer 1 day shipping.
Any of you cool cats know a solution? Appreciated.
>>3112525
Buy one at a store?
>>3112607
nothing local. All i have are gamestops, and they dont carry anything pre 7th gen
>>3112610
You're going to Louisiana though there should be a store that carries them in between
for me it was this one:

what about yours?

I find it interesting that the company responsible for this game made some pretty competent emulators
Gensis MK1. Crappy sound and graphics compared to the SNES port, but way better gameplay. The SNES handled jump kicks all wrong compared to the arcade.
>>3111872
>Crappy sound
Nah, genesis had way better music
Matt Furniss can do no wrong
Let's settle this debacle once and for all. Which is the greater retro horror-themed platformer series: Castlevania or Ghosts & Goblins?
Also, what do you think is the best GNG and CV game ever?
GnG
>best CV ever
Oh no, not again
Both are high quality series, but Castlevania has a lot more titles and a bit more variety, so i go with CV.
As for best titles, for me:
GnG: Ghouls 'n Ghosts
CV: 3 or Rondo of Blood.
What does /vr/ think of reproduction carts?
Thinking about picking up a few of the games that never made it overseas like pic related and was wondering what your take on it was.
Waste of money if they cost anything more than 5 or 6 bucks.
>>3111315
flashcart you can print your own art if you want too.
>>3111315
Get a few of your favorites if you want but realistically it's not worth the money. If you want like 3-5 you're better off just buying a flash cart.
If you make them yourself and buy supplies in bulk you can get cost down to around 20-25 bucks, but if you're getting someone else to do it it's usually around 35+, scalpers usually put them on eBay for 50+.
Technically you can't sell them on eBay, I'm wondering if anyone's actually bought something on eBay and then gotten it refunded as "counterfeit/bootleg" merchandise. I know you can but I've never really seen documented proof of it.
Your opinion on Tower of Druaga?
Everyone is evil: the series.
Also damn if you didn't need a guide for this.
>>3110991
ISHTAR AND KI ARE EVIL?
B-but I thought she'd be with Gil forever like a happy OTP
>>3110936
Tower is so fucking hard it's ridiculous. Even Wizardry IV can be slowly, methodically progressed through by a single person with no outside help given enough focus and organization. I firmly believe no single person could untangle ToD in a lifetime unaided.
What does /vr/ think of Tokimeki Memorial/Mitsumete Knight?
Tokimemo's pretty neat, don't know much about Mitsumete Knight.

You just reminded me I should buy them for the ps1.
That you aren't good at
I have yet to find a game that gives me such a sense of speed as After Burner II does, but I am complete dogshit at it.
>>3110731
I'm not too good at it either, but try to dodge vertically more than horizontally, and use the throttle to escape when missiles close in.
