Anyone else grow up with this classic?
I know vr hates this word, but Spider-Man 2000 has not aged well
A shame, because neversoft's tony hawk series is still amazing today
>>3087693
I was playing it the other day and while it wasnt as fun as I remember, its still a great single player game. The second one for the PS1 was really good as well.

They made some of my favorite games ever, but their quality has been in steady decline for years now. I'd rather see them just die outright than limp along shoveling out terrible parodies of what their games used to be.
They were smart to leave Konami when they did and probably smart to shut up shop when they did.
>Rumor
>source is NeoGAF
>All it says to back up the "rumor" is that Treasure hasn't made a new game since Gaist Crusher but they still license their works like Ikaruga and Gunstar heroes
Wow, it's fucking nothing.
All stuff we've know for a while, Treasure is not dead, they're a group of freelance developers that usually work for other companies and work on Treasure every now and then, usually under contract by major publishers.

Not OP but it looks like the real source is Mark McDonald and if he says something publicly I tend to take it seriously.
>He says he beat a game
>He used quicksaves while playing it
You didn't actually beat it, go back and do it again
>>3083974
Would you count it if the game has no save feature and I use save states as saves?
>>3083974
IMO, loading saves in old school FPSs is only acceptable if you just started it up to return to playing.
I seriously don't get the appeal in quicksaving and loading after every death. It just takes away the punishment for dying, and takes away the feeling of accomplishment for surviving. Its just boring.
>>3083974
i only save at the start of levels on the hardest difficulty, but DAMN if extra crispy is testing my limits and im an old school arena shooter player and beat lots of other FPS on the hardest settings.
What retro games feel and look the most like modern indie games?
I'm not talking about classic games that have influenced indie games, many indie games start out as tributes to retro games but in the long run screw up certain styles or elements of the games that originally inspired them and thus turn into something unique - something which is now refered to as the indie style. So I'm asking about retro games that feature this indie style before the indie style became a thing.
Enemy - Tempest of Violence for the Amiga is one such game.

Shit.
Resident Evil is 20 today, Any no Resident evil memories thread? Or is it because we're always talking about Resident Evil on here?
Lets reminisce, I'll start.
"why can't i hold all these keys"
still a great game tho, also maybe its my nostalgia but it still holds up today.
Not played REmake tho. should I?
I like it. Never saw the replay value that other people do.
I do wish they kept the horror b movie vibe.
>>3083167
>mom bought me Resident Evil 2 for Christmas
>never played RE1 but okay, games are games
>holy shit this is great!
>next year discover Dino Crisis and Resident Evil 3 solidifying love of genre
>it is time
>acquire and play Resident Evil 1
>...oh
I never really cared for the game. Admittedly, it suffers from not having been the first in the franchise I'd played.
Had no idea. Actually just started a new playthrough on the Saturn with a buddy the other day. We get too drunk and blow all our bullets. He claims I should be stabbing zombies upwards to hit their heads with the knife. Is this correct?
Can we have a gaming setup thread going
Not bad for a modern history teacher.

Post characters.

Why live? No, really. There was no more reason to live so he died and joined the Anthotis family.

dang
I've always been fascinated by these all in one behemoths. Not very practical really but still very appealing.
What are your opinions on them?
How many can you think of?
I think the Wii does a pretty good job. Xbox too.
>>3096537
>zemmixsuperboy
didn't know this existed, cool
Danish designer tv with built in CDI.
NEAT!
So which one do you prefer?
I mostly prefer Sprites over Polygons
It depends, but mostly sprites just look better if made correctly. Early 3D looks terrible by comparison and only a few games did it right. They would've looked better in 2D.
>>3096467
Sprites without question. But I think the bar is higher with sprites, it's harder to make them look amazing.
>>3096467
Polygons have started to look way better than sprites in my opinion, especially with all the variations that shaders can provide. For instance, see pic.
I still am a sucker for some good pixel art though.
Daily reminder that this is still the GOAT retro belt scroller.

Yeah, I like BSAGs.
Punch Walkers aged poorly
Play a real genre like STG
Why was Europe's Amiga scene so much better than computer gaming in America?
Were you kids too busy sucking Nintendo dick to notice the superiourity of computers?
>1 board games
>good
Australia-kun, you really need to leave this place and seek for professional help.
Why does this even need an explanation?
>go into computer store c. 1988
>see Amiga on display
>"Aiyyo, can this thing run Lotus 123?"
>"Nope."
>"Oh. Nevermind."
The Atari Vault just got released for Steam, it contains 100 Atari games from the 2600 to arcade, are you getting it?
Is it free? Does it offer any advantage over free emulation whatsoever, even a very trivial one? Then probably not.

Idiot here, I'm almost dumb enough for this, but not for $17
It was X-treme.
With the Nights engine, could have probably been okay. I dunno about some of these "leaked" versions I've seen.

Sonic was at his peak popularity at this time right after CD and S3&K. I remember magazine ads at the time and loved the mysterious tone Sonic games had. I loved the mecha/metal sonic designs and Xtreme was going to continue this. I wish the American devs of Xtreme got more help so maybe the shitty modern sonic design would have been avoided.
Anyone here from Europe and actually felt the game played/sound wrong or did you guys think that's how it should be at the time? Anyone here actually have a hard time playing older games at their normal speed because you were so use to your TV rate?
Asutralia-kun's handle is andreasaspenberg575?
Good day, Australia kun.
I think the music sounds better on Sonic 1 when it's slowed down. Most games I don't even notice slowdown whether it's PAL or not. The only game where I find the slowdown quite bad is the original Phantasy Star on Master System.
Why didn't we get this cable for our consoles?
>>3093046
Reasons.
/thread
>>3093046
Honest question. Who here, born in the 80's or before, cares about picture quality at this age?
>>3093046
Scart's a shit connector.
In Europe and Japan the scart/jp-21 cables never sold very well. Only a handful of consoles actually had SCART RGB included in the box. Usually it would had been RF or composite over scart instead of rgb.
Now it's hip to talk about RGB. But why we talk about a shitty EU standard is beyond me.
S-Video also looks great. At the time the only thing that could had taken advantage of RGB would had maybe been DVD. And that had component pretty much standard by the 2000s. Wasn't big till then too. VHS, Betamax, LD, etc used composite.
So again I'm not sure why kids think the lack of RGB is all that surprising.
