What's the deal with water levels?
They slow.
They're slow.
They're too blue.
Sand and seaweed are boring.
At least water levels are consistently awful.
Ice levels, on the other hand, are either really bad or really good. They're like a rollercoaster of bullshit.
Name a worse retro game.
(pro tip: you can't)
>>3123657
You're right, I can't.
Here you are.
>>3123657
Your favourite game is worse. Fuck, your favourite game is the worst piece of shit I have ever played and you should feel bad for liking it.
Is it reasonable to focus on small guns or do energy weapons make them obsolete late game? Also, besides lockpick and speech what other skills would you recommend investing in?
Small arms and melee are fine. Energy weapons are strong but come into play relatively late.
Sneak is pretty useful.
Repair and science are helpful but can be learned from books to some degree.
>>3123587
small guns is fine, you don't really need to tag it though. books should be good enough for it.
Outdoorsman is severely underrated
What are your thoughts on localizer and translator Jeremy Blaustein?
>>3123553
Well if if you're asking me how I liked how MGS was brought to the states I think it's fantastic. Maybe a little cheesy at times but the atmosphere was incredible and all the c haracters were pretty great. As a little kid I would call everyone on the codec over and over to hear all the interesting conversations. what else did he do op?
>>3123553
Well, if you really want to forge a fair opinion about that, you need to be able to read and compare with the original script. There has to be people who read Japanese here but not many, even less who would care enough to play and compare the game in both languages.
>>3123821
Apparently the script to Twin Snakes is a more direct translation.
Delicious but deadly.
This game is really too primitive to be enjoyable today desu.
>>3123304
Yeah really.
THROW BABY
why does japan have such perfect retro box art?
>>3123146
Because youre a weeb.
A simple black matte boxed PS logo in color in the corner, plus a physical spine sleeve is perfect.
>>3123146
When they sell stuff, they tend to tell the truth
Does anybody know where I can get an ISO or something of this game? I have searched for days with no luck.
>its called isabelle
>might be a pc game not %100 sure...
>>3122054
It's a PC game, and a French one at that, kinda reminds me of one of those walking simulators like myst.
Screens look pretty cool at least

I want to play another great Action RPG on the Super Nintendo (love Secret of Mana). The only two that come up are SD3 and Terranigma. The former has multiplayer which is a plus, but I am not sure which is the better of the two.
i loved SD3 growing up, havent played Terranigma.
I played sd3 countlessly, twice over zsnes netplay with a ton of restarting whenever me and my friend would de-sync. i'd say it's more fun solo honestly because MENUS SUCK. if you do play with a friend, try to limit it to one caster
>>3122016
Apples and oranges, both are worth playing for different reasons.
>>3122016
Terranigma has a bit more of an indepth combat system, where as SD3 is more button mashy and you know, very similar to SoM in terms of the wheel system.
I think they're both worth playing but they are vastly different.
If you want more "action" oriented, Terranigma is probably the way to go, since it's very much about attacking and dodging enemy attacks and you are quite mobile.
If you want the more JRPG style of SoM, SD3 is the way to go.
Just for your own notes, afaik SD3 only supports 2 player multiplayer although there may have been a patch.
did someone remember this game? it was a sequel of the amazing terranigma, guess all them are extremely underrated, i mean, this games are like the perfect fusion between the zelda mechanics and rpg addons.
>>3121871
>did someone remember this game
No, no one here has ever mentioned Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, or Terranigma, or even Actraiser or Actraiser 2, ever.
>>3121871
*Actually was a prequel
>>3121875
are you been irony? because i dont get it
There is this arcade game Lode Runner: the Dig Fight. It's pretty unknown, yet awesomely designed and is great for co-op or vs 2 player play. Also I remembered playing Lode Runner on NES as a child, but after I recently tried it, camera annoyed me a lot. To move the camera I had to come to the border so close that it barely gave me time to react to enemies. Wiki lists a lot of Lode Runner games for different platforms, which one is better and worth playing?
Just play the damn Apple II version on emulation.
Only played the gameboy one, I quite like it. No camera issue like you describe IIRC.
By the way how does the multiplayer vs work in Dig Fight?
Hey, I was always curious why the Super Nintendo never got a second Zelda despite being a successful and long lived console. It turns out that the BS Zeldas (the Zelda 1 remake and Ancient Stone Tablets) are a bit of lost Zelda titles.
Anyway, I am more curious about the Zelda 1 remake of the BS titles. How does it stack up compared to the original Zelda? Does it improve on it a lot, and is it even worth to play?
As far as I know it's the exact same thing with better graphics but you play as a stupid kid with a baseball cap instead of Link. Your pic is from a romhack that replaces him with Link.
>>3121481
It's bullshit.
I'm stuck with gf's macbook for a while and I'm wondering what the best emulators for SNES and Genesis are on it. Can anybody help me out? Also how can I use my PS4 controller with it? Is it even possible? Thanks.
>>3121468
emuparadise should have whatever you need for emulaters
google the ps4 controller stuff
BSNES (performance) is good. as for genesis its been a while and ive reinstalled my macbook since, but Genesis Plus is what you want to use i think. as for PS4 controllers theyre basically plug and play, assuming theyre the same as PS3 controllers. plug it in via usb cable and press the PS button, then start your emulator and simply bind all the keys to it.
>>3121507
This guy knows what's up. BSNES (performance) is pretty much all you need as far as SNES goes.
Going back in time as early your favorite console was out, what genres would you immediately get to work on if you were a developer or producer? Feel free to take modern ideas with you.
DORK SOLES
WITH
LOLIS
>>3121281
Came to post something else, but this is a much better idea.
my favorite console was the dreamcast
too much pressure desu
What's your favorite quake mission, anon?
What are your favorite packs?
>>3121145
At the moment it's up between Horde of Zendar and Red Hatred.
>>3121145
The zombie chapter was awesome. They caught me off guard the first few times because I did not gib them.
>>3121145
The hipnotic mission pack is glorious. Hipdm1 is a hell of a map in single player or DM.
3 games from your collection pic thread? Match one to the previous poster.
>>3121040
Kay
OK everybody lets post our copies of Battletoads until somebody with 3 relatively obscure games kills the thread
Matching to system would make it far easier to take part in this thread, especially in the case where the games become much less common.
I'm also not sure I want to see Battletoads in every image.
Back to lurking with the rest of potential posters I go.
