whats your favorite retro shin megami tensei game?
persona 2 innocent sin here, the first smt is a close one too
I could not get into smt2 at all. It was my first attempt at a smt game... Couldn't get interested in the characters and just felt lost in what was going on...
>>3114254
you should try persona 2, its like every smt but in 3rd personalso you have stands
>>3114261
I tried playing that, but the start was so damn dull with everything doing tink damage and posing no threat whatsoever. Does the difficulty get better?
I was looking into getting an old computer... But honestly I'm confused. I want to be able to play dos games without any trouble. I know nothing on the matter, I fell off computers while Warcraft vannila was still new. I'm talking games like dungeon keeper gold and fallout 1-2 but still play age of empires 1-2 and all that good stuff... What kind of old or "new" PC am I looking for? HALP ME /VR/!!
Much appreciated
use a VM
>>3114116
VM? I'd that a program I can buy? I'm just looking for an xp that can play dos and shtuff. Last I remember xp can do that?
Post arranged soundtracks. Bonus points if it's arranged by the original composer.

6 tracks of SMT: Soul Hackers were rearranged for the 3DS rerelease by a man called Atsushi Kitajoh. He's a newer staff member at Atlus and has composed for some newer Persona and Trauma Center games. I think his work here is pretty good.

The Brink of Time has great jazz (especially acid jazz) and pop arrangements of Chrono Trigger tracks. It was mostly composed/arranged by Mitsuda and it was released around the time the game came out.

Secret of Mana+... This one is fucking amazing. It's a single hour-long track inspired by Mike Oldfield's albums (especially Tubular Bells) and prog-rock bands (like Pink Floyd). It was arranged/composed/performed by Hiroki Kikuta the original composer, and actually uses telephone sounds as instruments.

Thread for the discussion and appreciation of fighting games.
Here's a personal favorite of mine.
>>3114039
Love that game.
There's an entire library of '90s SNK and Capcom fighters on Fightcade waiting to be played and the only things people play are Third Strike and KoF98/02. Alpha 3 has like 30 people at peak times if that counts.
Pretty sad. I'd really love to play Garou, Last Blade 1 and 2, Alpha 2, Super Turbo, Vampire Savior etc.
Also this may not be news to some of you, but if you like watching those types of games played competitively, a-cho's YouTube channel has plenty. Check here: https://www.youtube.com/user/GAMEacho
Where the fuck can I get high speed downloads of retro roms and fifth/sixth generation iso's? I'm tired of dodgy sites like coolroms and slow download speeds from Emuparadise.
Surely there has to be a highly organised one stop shop for roms and ISO's....Right?
>>3113990
You do realize that hosting ain't cheap, and these sites deal in goods of questionable legality? You should be grateful that you can even download these things without too much effort. Ungrateful seems to nice of a word for describing OP.
There's those NoCD rom collections out there.
Otherwise those dodgy rom sites are usually the best you can do, especially for relatively large filesizes and isos like PSX games. Unless they're popular enough to be well-seeded on torrent sites, but that's increasingly rare these days.

emuparadise is a blessing you sad bastard
Playing Pic related ....
Is Sonic for GBA true to the original? The movement feels very stiff. Did Sonic 1 not have momentum like Sonic 3&K did?
Sonic Advance for the GBA maintained the original's sense of momentum, because it was a port of the original Sonic Pocket Adventure engine.
Sonic Advance 2 for the GBA had stiff movement and no momentum, because it was a ground-up reworking based around the GBA exclusive Hedgehog engine.
What about Sonic the Hedgehog? Am I wasting my time?
No
Don't play it
Throw it in the bin
GBA is not /vr/
Play the originals
>>3113948
>because it was a port of the original Sonic Pocket Adventure engine.
Nice info you just pulled out of your ass.
>because it was a port of the original Sonic Pocket Adventure engine.
u fucking wot, m8? You know you can just emulate it to find out that A. It's absolute shit and B. that it's not a port of Pocket Adventure. Also,
>GBA
Not retro. I'd say take it to >>>/v/, but you're hardly gonna have any better luck there.
when i play gt2 on a emulator the you can see anything on the sides of the screen un-render(?) when i look at the game on youtube it looks fine. how can i fix this?
>>3113850
you can see how on the right side of the image its missing part of the track
>>3113850
Pop a disk in a ps2, knock the dust off that wallet and lay down a Lincoln for the cause.
>>3113865
that doesnt really help me, does it?

I can guide you on how to run it, it's pretty straightforward anyway, I have a complete spanish guide if anyone is interested...
Avast will say MouseInjector.exe is a virus, put it in the exception list:
Gear icon -> General -> Exclusion -> File path

But I already have it on N64 and the controls are great.

Nice virus asshole.
Is this really the best rpg on the saturn?
Many signs point to yes for me
-scarce
- always bid around $200
-no one will trade me
Even though it's an incomplete game people still can't get enough
>Is this really the best rpg on the saturn?
No.
A games rareness does not determine its quality.
>scarce
Tips fedora. A true hidden gem.
>>3113721
I agree. I'd love to see a fully 3D Base Wars, with robot fights that play like Armored Core.
>>3113893
Pretty much. I don't see WTF a sequel would really do, and a prequel would probably be shit.
Favorite game?
Best graphics?
Best musics?
Best arcade port?
In my case, would be:
Turrican 3
Lionheart
Shadow of the beast
R-Type

Agony isn't that bad, and the intro music was awesome (dimmu borgir rip of that song)
>You will run out of retrogames in your lifetime
Only if people stop making videogames.
You must have a lot more free time than I do. Fuck, I was just looking at ONLY the ExoDOS RPG collection musing on how even if I live to be 120 I'll die without ever even seriously playing most video games, let alone completing them.
Then I started contemplating if there was more virtual space within video games than there is actual space in the world/universe when including grand-scope space games.
Then I smoked a blunt.
I actually did the math and there's more stuff that I'm interested in then I have free time left to play.
How many of you play old games exclusively? Recently, I just can't bring myself to play new games. I just can't bring myself to invest in getting new consoles/upgrading my pc and buying games now that i'm saving up to move out, but even if I had the money, I'm not sure I would.
Do you stick to retro games exclusively?
Yep, there should be a rule where if a person is found playing things newer than 1999 he should be perma-banned.
Nah lately I've gotten pretty into PS3 it's way cheaper than buying retro games
I do play my retro games though. Sometimes for nostalgia sometimes for convenience (pocket emulation) and sometimes just because I'm in the mood for something I missed out on back in the day.
>>3113247
It depends on what you mean.
I don't exclusively play /vr/ games, but I don't keep up with the newest trends like /v/ does.
I'm somewhere in between. I'll buy whatever looks interesting for the systems I already own.
Would you play it?
No. LSD is a dumb game.
>>3113228
ur a dumb game
Sure. Turning is already slow as shit so why not? Would probably even be fine on Google Cardboard.
On a related note, true 3D emulators for Playstation and N64 when?
Hey guys I don't know if this is the correct board to post this but here goes anyway.
>started playing ff8 in classicboy emulator
>fmv lunar cry freeze (known bug)
>google says I can pass through it by skipping a frame in epsxe emulator
>Question: how do I transfer the save file (.sta) to epsxe (.mcr)
Game is .bin
Bump
This is why you just. don't. emulate.
