Star Wars: Dark Forces
The greatest Doom-like ever.
Is it just me or do lightening/ice/fire 2 do more damage then there single target versions in chrono trigger.
Because if so that seems like a poor design decision.
And i also feel like an idiot for not realising if sooner I am about 3/4 of the way into the game already and only just noticed (I assume about 3/4 anyway it feels like it)
>>3101268
Also that map is hell on a phone screen.
>>3101268
Except the 2 versions cost more MP and require more AP to unlock so it makes sense that later powers are stronger and more useful than earlier skills.
If you got Chrono with all of his abilities unlocked at the start of the game then I would agree, there would never be a reason to use the Level 1 spells, but they retain their usefulness because of all the elemental enemies in the late game.
>>3101305
I suppose that makes sense
The underwater palace would be hell without single target attack spells
Why doesn't this count as a sonic game? Because of the way it was presented? I'm trying to understand because every article says
Saturn failed no sonic
Saturn failed no sonic
please explain thx
Ps I own the game and can't stand it ten minutes before I turn it off.
>>3100979
This game was on genesis, and its almost the same. When it came out nobody gave a fucking shit. The gameplay has backtracking. Its a little bit more fun than a Sonic 3 special level.
It doesn't count as a Saturn sonic game because it was on Genesis too
You're taking the "saturn no sonic" thing a little too literally; Sonic R is most certainly a sonic game.
It's referring to a step forward in the series' canon, which never happened.
Might & Magic 6 versus 7?
Which is better?
And why does part 7 actually have worse graphics? All the sprites/models look blurry and shit, while in part 6 they looked sharp and crisp.
Choose "Software 3D" in options if your graphics are blurry.
both are great but 6 is way better.
bigger world, more secrets, way less linear, better inventory management (everyone can master id item and repair) and some of the best dungeon design ever.
7 has muh homm3 lore. its a great game in its own right but so many classes are gimped due to the addition of GM skills. very rushed endgame as well
Just a quick question. Which of these describes the reason you play/collect retro games most
A)You want to relive memories of your childhood by replaying games you used to love and have some sort of sentimental attachment to.
B)You want to try games from your prime years of gaming that you never got to play or just chose ot to play, to see what all the hype was about
C)You want to play games before your time to give yourself a history lesson on gaming and understand where people from a certain era were coming from
D)You are convinced that games made past a certain year simply aren't worth playing, so you might as well just play games made in the "golden years"
E)You hate video games, but you are just collecting this crap so you can jew some faggot out of his money once gamers of a certain age group hit their midlife crisis and start throwing loads of money at stuff to make them feel young again (aka Option A. We have now come full circle.)
For me it's pretty much all B & C. I wasn't allowed to play video games until I was 10, I got a PS2 and mostly played PS1 games on it since I never liked paying 50 bucks for games (made an exception for Grand Theft Auto) and later scored an N64 for 20 bucks so I could finally play Golden eye, which everyone used to love but I never got to play. Now I mostly just emulate shit and try out obsure abandonware DOS games for the hell of it.

All B, Baby - With some occasional A if I have time (rarely)
A mix of A and B. Most of my collection was actually build up back in the day when they were new, or when they became "old" (but not "retro/vintage/RARE!L@@K!") and were sold for pretty cheap in the early 00s.
I rarely buy stuff anymore except for some JP imports here and there.
B.Fuck people who say all A and they should never post again.
A place to talk about all roguelikes released in 1999 or earlier

I know, I saw it just after posting. Too late.
If the /stg/ thread here is any indication it will be well over a week before the thread is pruned, if it doesn't die naturally first

And I think even our /vg/ thread is slower than /stg/, so possibly more

How is wii virtual console emulation compared to wii homebrew emulators?Which is better? In terms of accuracy, input lag, etc...
>>3099778
Virtual console is generally as accurate as you can get for most emulators.
BSNES is probably more accurate than any of Nintendo's emulators, though.
And there's no such thing as input lag.
>>3099784
>And there's no such thing as input lag.
DK64 has five million hours of input lag on VC.
>>3099787
There is no dk64 on genuine vc
PC-engine art thread?
why dont these new pseudo retro games try to emulate this style? instead of fake nes
>>3099554
it would require effort

Let's discuss retro prices.
It's obvious how the value continues to increase. Is this a bubble that will one day pop? Or will prices just continue to increase from here on out so we should just buy them at current prices? I'm not interested in WHY the prices increase, the answers are obvious.
So it begins.
>>3099348
>Is this a bubble that will one day pop?
No. There is no counter to games staying out of circulation aside from office drops, but the resellers are too greedy and stupid to drop them on their own. Current distribution of ownership and reseller behavior pretty much guarantee that ridiculous prices will only "improve" once inflation catches up (probably never for certain titles). If resellers weren't blithering morons, they'd price items to move so they can flip them quickly, reinvest the profit and make more money over time, but most of them are mentally incapable of understanding this practice.
Prices won't fall until people who have nostalgia for the games start to die off and not even then if video games successfully make the transition to pop-art the way comics have - which is almost a sure thing to happen.
I've always wondered; is there any sort of strategy to fighting arcade beat'em up bosses? No matter what they also seem to eat your quarters.
>>3097918
Tons of strategies. Depends on the game though. Konami 4-player HBSAGs (horizontal belt-scrolling action games) on the other hand are notorious for being button-mashy. Pick up some Capcom HBSAGs and you'll see that you need strategy and skill to beat bosses without dying.
>get below the boss
>inch upwards while attacking
>repeat
This is the strategy for 99% of these bosses. You'll still die repeatedly because most of these arcade games aren't meant to be fair, they're meant to turn a profit.
Yes more quarters
I'm constantly seeing characters who are full of angst and inner demons. What are some /vr/ characters that are truly guided by the forces of good?
Picture related, Condor from Breakers.
The Holy Spirit allows him to maintain his position at High Tier.
Devils ain't got shit on the Belmont family... except for Richter who got shafted.
Babby's first paladin.

There's the Virtual Cameraman series on 3DO, which is from the same devs as Virtua Photo Studio.
The 3DO and Saturn have this strip rock-paper-scissors game called The Yakyuken Special, and the Saturn version adds more girls.
Another strip rock-paper-scissors one is Onee-san to Issho! Janken Paradise, also on 3DO, which has some neat stuff. It lets you choose what article of clothing the girl will take off and in whatever order you want, as well as a mode that lets you play against more than one of the girls, and each pairing/grouping has their own unique photos as rewards. It's also not as cheap difficulty-wise as Yakyuken Special.
...also, I still can't believe it was Acclaim that released Virtua Photo Studio. So odd.
