What are some PS1 games that are short and easy but still good that I can bang out in an afternoon?
I grew up playing 40+ hour RPGs almost exclusively during that gen and I don't have time for that kind of a commitment now so I'm looking for smaller games I missed out on. Any genre, I don't care, but I won't be able to beat shoot 'em ups or fighting games I can guarantee that.
Klonoa is about a 6-8 hour game. If you don't want feels then stay away.
Parappa the Rapper and Um Jammer Lammy.
You can finish them both in an afternoon.
Abe's Oddysee (short and sweet, sequel is much longer though), Crash Bandicoot (2 is the shortest and best), Resident Evil (any one, they're all around 3-4 hours long if you go in blind).
Just picked up a Super Gameboy and realized my physical Gameboy library is pretty modest.
What are some good Gameboy that took advantage of its enhancements?
Enjoy your music that runs at 1.5x normal speed.

I'm ntsc-u bro I just watch these old brit shows. ugh I know even when I was little nick was lame, Ren & Stimpy and Rocco's are the only memories I have of anything good on that channel.
holy crap this game's freaking cool. Definitely the arcade action I've been craving since star fox zero didn't deliver.
What are your thoughts on the game, anons? Any tips on when to use the lock-on reticle if at all?
>>3200071
Great game. Too bad salty Segafags will try to hide up the fact that N64 got some kick ass Treasure games.

>Any tips on when to use the lock-on reticle if at all?
When you have a moving target and you need to focus on evading it's better to use the lock-on.
>>3200073
Fucking uncalled for, man. I never seen anybody shit on this game. It's one of the few Treasure games, along with maybe Alien Soldier that doesn't have haters (apart from the anti-Treasure guys who claim to hate every game they made, but I doubt they actually played the games).
It's just a fucking good game, fuck console wars.

Never played it, but I want to. Easy to emulate?
Never played Tibia in my life, but the aesthetics look quite appealing to me. Is it worth playing in 2016?
No.

I really tried to play it. It was tedious as fuck. I abandoned it.
Why do you like /vr/ games? For me the simplicity of sprites is very calming. Life is too complicated. Games shouldn't be. It's just relaxing to look at older games sometimes you know.
The art style, the challenge and that they run on toasters.

What video game is that?
There are many elements that are present in /vr/ games that just aren't incorporated in modern day games. This is coming from someone who isn't even 20 yet. Not because they are old or "different" I like my share fare of more recent titles but there is just this distinctive charm and style about older games that just draw me in that newer games cannot. There are so much that I can choose as examples for what I mean like SotN, FF6, Sonic CD, Maro RPG, Seiken no Densetsu 3, Super Metroid, aLttP, I could name so much more.
What are your favorite old skool games and why do they stick out to you?

Yume Penguin Monogatari had the weight bar instead of a health bar.
The 3rd person faux-3D shooter style of Space Harrier was crazy at the time

Have you tried Burning Rangers?
Are Warcraft I+II worth playing for the story?
No video game is worth playing for the story. If you want a good story read a fucking book, or at the minimum the transcript to a video game.
It'll save you hours and have the exact same impact.

Asking because I want to get into the Warcraft lore and never played anything before 3, and that had great story and lore.
Wanted to know if it's anywhere near the same quality.

>Are Warcraft I+II worth playing for the story?
Warcraft 2's manual is worth reading for the story.
Why is Geese such a weeaboo?
Because he's the bad guy.
Some kind of wish fullfillment for young Japanese who look up to the West? I don't know man.
He wasn't always. And to be fair, he's just honoring his teacher's fighting style and culture. Most of the time he's in his Italian suits doing evil CEO shit and neglecting his kid.
Look up "Snowball Earth." It happened once. It could happen again.
Liberals got elected to power and spread the global warming myth and everyone bought it hook, line, and sinker leading them to panic and overcompensate and cool the Earth too rapidly.

What video games do you consider to be overrated and/or have aged poorly, /vr/?
Not even trolling. I loathe this game.

Came in having seen all the praise on the internet, came out empty handed.
+1 on this bore-fest.
What do you guys think of run 'n gun shooters?
They're fun
Best genre, but often feels surprisingly limited in games developed compared to other genres.
Am I the only one who really enjoys top down run n guns?
How come every other SNK game was a fighting game?
They had more non-fighting games than fighting games

Not in any top 50 list.
