Odd questions:
Does anyone know where I can buy NES port stickers? The original one came off 20 years ago

Thanks friend. If I put retrobrite on this will the decal lettering come off?
>>3204786
It might. Try bleach diluted with ammonia.
How many retro games can you own without being a collector?
>>3204338
a collector is a faggot who buys games solely for bragging rights and doesnt play 90% of the games they buy
>>3204338
It's less about the amount but the time frame and intent.
>>3204373
The guy at the local brick and mortar asked me if I was a collecter when I was buying like a dozen games, I was hurt, I'm gonna play all that shit (eventually)

The fuck do you mean, Wonder Boy by Tenacious D?
>>3203492
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
Two song titles one game!
Which one did you prefer?
>>3203467
I'm amazed by how accurate that port was. Makes the Final Fight port even more disappointing.
>>3203467
SNES for the better combat and Neon Night Ridersthe music on Hyperstone Heist is absolutely kick ass
I preferred the far superior Sega version
Looking at buying one of these pieces of shit. I want to get into the PC engine scene and I'm fairly handy at repair, should I still dump an extra 150 and get a duo-r? Anyone have experience with these units? Also PC-cdrom general.
Have you looked at the prices? These games are EXPENSIVE. I love the pc engine but holy fuck collecting for it.
Just get a regular duo and recap it if you're confident about doing that kind of thing. Maybe replace the laser I don't think there's any other way they fail.
>>3203135
is there a place where i can get busted (as in impossible to get working) units, preferably the full set (PCE, CD, Interface)
unusable units should be cheaper, right? not interested in repairs, want to use them for another project...
Do you try to use an arcade stick for most 2D games? Or do you stick with a gamepad for consoles?
>>3202834
>Do you try to use an arcade stick for most 2D games?
I do, actually. Not for driving games tho, if you're counting those. Or for GC/Wii as I don't have one for those platforms. But otherwise, yes.
>>3202834
Does it really help for anything other than fighters? If something is designed with a gamepad in mind, I don't see why using an arcade stick would be better.
>>3202834
Of course I use an arcade stick. Have done since the 1 button days.
Noone talks about Wonderboy anymore.
I loved when the series evolved into Metroid-esque action-rpg.
Dragon's Trap on The Master System was a childhood favourite of mine and shat all over most of the NES library.
What's /vr's take on the series?
> Well for starters it looks like the developers settled upon a fucking trainwreck for boxart.
>>3202828
>inb4 twelve year olds who don't recognise SEGA's minimalist art style.
Dragon's Trap was one of the greatest 8-bit titles ever made. There's also a PC Engine version called Dragon's Curse.
>>3202782
Haven't played yet, but I want to. I'm thinking of buying a Master System soon.
Since this is as good of thread as any to ask, has anyone used the FM sound mod with their American/Euro Master System? Does it work okay?
Or is getting a Powerbase FM Mini for my Genesis better?
What does /vr/ think of Dragon Warrior 2? Just got the prince of cannock and im having a blast
I don't like it, but don't let that stop you from having fun.
>>3202652
why don't you like it?
>>3202645
Considered by many the black sheep of the series, prince of cannock is notorious for being useless. The story is it was rushed and the game ultimately wasn't tested enough leading to great balance issues. Prepare your anus for Rhone. May I ask what version you are playing?
What is the process to actually figure this shit out?
>>3202586
You talk to employees around the building.
>>3202593
Liar
You're supposed to look at the book shelves and pick out the book that doesn't belong in the room (like a book about biology in the Midgar Development bookshelf)
If I remember correctly the number of the book corresponds to the letter in the book's title that you unscramble to find the password.
>>3202586
look it up on gamefaqs
>2 year north american lifespan
>75% of the library are sports games or shovelware
>only ten games worth playing
>highest failure rate of a console save for xbox 360
>controller is shit
>total failure of a console
>only hipsters and captain contrarians liked it at the time
>yet somehow people call it the best console ever
What the fuck am I missing /vr/?
>>3202557
>highest fail rate
I've had mine since release and it still works fine
It's okay if you don't like arcade games, just don't spend your time convincing people who do that they're wrong.
>>3202557
>highest failure rate of a console save for xbox 360
First I'm hearing of that. I'd say the fat PS2 was far more unreliable.
Anyway, homebrew scene. Dreamcast has it in spades.
Any old bongs remember Ocean software?
They made some cassette msx games my dad owns
Pic related is a pretty good game. Shame ocean in the 16 bit era and beyond basically meant bad games
>>3202526
I had that game for the Spectrum.
The game was actually only HALF the arcade game.
The other half of the game was released as Hunchback II.
This game was amazing at the time.
Your opinion on beat 'em ups

>>3201934
Like playing a fighter with a character that sucks and barely has any moves against an endless stream of equally shitty AI opponents that you cheese with the same couple moves for the whole game. Maybe one of the most boring genres out there.
>>3201934
fun with friends, monotonous without.
What are some of your favorite fighting game special or super moves?
This game is kicking my butt.
Even on the easiest difficulty, the AI is brutal. Been playing for over an hour and can't get very far without spamming jump-kicks.
Any advice for a beginner?
Besides spamming jump kicks, try ducking and doing an uppercut every time the enemy comes close.
>>3201402
Sweep. You can beat that whole game with sweeps.
But this sounds like super obvious bait, on the easy settings the first few opponents don't even really attack you. MK AI is notoriously awful which I am certain you are more than well aware of.
Pic related from a forum I found describes my pains with the game well.
