HELLO /TRV/
I am going to be visiting the Philippines in 10 days for 2 weeks and am looking for general ideas of what to do. I've looked up touristy things on various websites and so far think I will visit The Banaue Rice Terraces, go diving and to the beaches in Palawan, and possibly seeing the Chocolate Hills in Bohol. Some questions:
Should I even bother with Manila?
Any other places of interest?
Will I get by speaking English?
Good places to stay?
Any other advice?
IMHO Manila is not worth it unless you are into decadent shitholes (I actually am into shitty megalopolis so I kinda enjoyed it) then Cordillera (banaue, batad and sagada) and Palawan are musts. I didn't enjoy Bohol and I think in two weeks you should focus on the other two areas. Only if it matches your itinerary you can visit the things in Bohol but they might disappoint you

If you have the time to get away a bit, go to Boracay. Absolutely great gem of a beach.
>>1065265
For diving the visayas are way better then palawan. Bohol has amazing diving in the south. In the north of cebu island there is a island called malapascua island. It's hard to reach but the thresher sharks are definitely worth it.
did you guys ever do some backpacking in SEA?
if so, i have a few questions for you:
1) is it possible to reach the interesting parts of the national parks with public transportation or do you need to have your own vehicle?
2) how to find cheap hostels there? i found some via various apps, but they appeared to be just as expensive as most ones in the western world
3) is it wise to camp outside in the wilderness or sleep on the streets, in case you dont get a hostel in time?
thanks guise
>>1065168
1) yes
2) hostelworld
3)depends on the place mostly not a good idea

Have you ever been suspected of terrorism at an airport?. It happened to me yesterday out of the blue, first they swabbed my hands with a cotton tissue and told me it was "ok", then one girl from the airline gives me bad looks while talking by the phone, when i hand my id and boarding pass, the guy from the airline tells me "It's ok Mr.Anon, you can pass", and right after that a guard when i was about to go to the plane a guard froze me and says
>-Where are you from?
>-From...
>Where are you going to?
>to...
he kept thinking for like a minute and then let me go. I'm not even arab or arab looking, i didn't have a beard or anything just had a shitty 5 'o clock shadow
>>1063140
>swabbed your hands
Oh lord, they've got your dna now bro, it's over.
>>1063146
It's actually in order to check for explosive traces, pretty retarded desu.
>>1063148
Explosive traces of you cumming into your own hand?
Enjoy your lonely trips, terrorist.
I was planning for this summer to make a trip in there but since there has been in the last months an escalation of violence between the PKK and the turkish army I'm starting to think it's not a so great idea
Anyone has been there? is it really "so dangerous"? is it worth?
There is no Kurdistan you retard, although you will find a lot of Kurds if you go there.
They will probably not welcome you, and probably rob you clean, damn sandniggers.
Why the fuck? I usually don't like when people tell people not to go South America, the Middle East, Africa, etc because of "violence" but my understanding is that Kurdistan is literally a warzone right now. What possible enjoyment could you get as a tourist? Might as well go to Aleppo or some shit right now

Go to bed Ahmed
I'm studying aboard in Europe.
I've visited most major European cities and I recommend Prague best city hands down for partying.
>Clubs are cheap
>beautiful city
>The beer is amazing
>Girls are gorgeous
>People are so friendly
We just chat with this dude at a bar and gave us 4 grams of weed free because he thought we were funny Americans.
On new years eve, I met this czech cutie and after less than an hour talking to her she invited me to her place for sex
And did I mention how cheap everything is? a beer at a club is under 2 dollars!
I suggest everyone visit Prague before the word spreads and it'll turn into yet another euro tourist trap like Paris or London
2/10

I have a friend who's going there for studying I plan on visiting her asap since i'm yurop
What about prostitutes
hey /trv/
Going to kuala lumpur then singapore on June for 1 week, any ideas for places to go? I'm not the party kind of traveler not really into drinking and stuff, more on scenic shit like, temples, shrines museum, food trips and other shit.
Any travel tips, warnings, suggestions would be appreciated.
If you want to check the Kuala Lumpur skyline out from above, go to the top of the petronas twin towers and not the tower; Since there are two towers its very unique that you get to see the building you are in next to you from the top.
In Singapore i would also recommend going up the marina bay sands at dusk. Its spectacular.
Ony went to the singapore state museum. Pretty interesting exhibition on the history of singapore.
>>1064495
Do you have to pay something to get in the towers?
>>1064495
going out into the dunes when it's getting dark in singapore sounds alarming to me?
What is the most interesting part of the far Canadian north to explore?
>>1065206
>What is the most interesting part of the far Canadian north to explore?
Alaska?
None.
The only places in Canada ever worth visiting are the areas within an hour or two of the USA border.
Depends what is "interesting" for you.
>>1065210
Durrrr, good one.
So I'm staying in Seattle for a few nights next week: Anything cool to see or do besides the usual museums, pike place market and stuff?
>>1063830
if you're looking for good food on the cheap go to Mama's. Mexican food, $10 a meal. Also City Hostel is pretty good.
Pic related, Seattle's underground is huge. There's a bunch of secret entrances on the waterfront too.
>>1063849
City Hostel? I was going to settle for the Hosteling international one because it's right next to the train station I would be getting off at, but it does look really cool...
Can I get an English teaching job in Moscow or St. Petersburg as a white American with a fake degree?
What's the pay for teachers?
Shit dude are you me? Because that's my exact question.
fuck. ive been debating this for a while too
I'm an English tutor in Moscow, ask me stuff.
Hey! Im from Finland. Have u ever visited this northern country? I would like to recommend it to all of you with warmth.
>beatiful nature, lots of lakes and plenty of forest
>cosy cities
>young people are highly educated and polite and friendly
>culture is so different compared to U.S.
>very beatiful blonde girls
http://www.visitfinland.com/
It's a nice place. Other than the capital there's no city worth visiting. According to a study, Finland has the most promiscous girls. So have fun with the blondes!
>very beautiful blonde girls
>Finns
>not Mongoloid
I'm sure it's a troll post but I'm extremely fond of Finland.
> The women are beautiful...they're like chinkier hot ass white girls.
> Promiscuous
> being North American makes you stand out because Finnish men are so afraid to talk to the women
> They're like humbler Swedes (I love Sweden too, don't get me wrong)
> I think it's the most romantic culture in Northern Europe. Like, people still get married at 23 and shit and the women can be very royal. This is in contrast to Sweden, Norway, and Denmark where feminism has gone overboard
> the women don't talk too much because it's Finland
> they're not as rich as the other Northern European countries so I find them a little more down-to-earth
> honestly some of the most beautiful women I've met travelling have been Finnish
I disagree that it isn't worth seeing anything else but the capital. Rovaniemi is a cool student town up north. Turku has a cool vibe. Tampere is a beautiful city/town. Helsinki has an awesome culture if you're into alternative stuff
Hi /trv/!
I'm going to be in France next April. I'd like discover French cuisine. Where should I go?
Lyon or Dijon. They are the most renowned towns. You should take a look at the Guide Michelin.
Hey /trv/ we are planning a 15-days trip for this February (3 males in mid-20s)
We live in Europe so we want to go somewhere calm, where we can swim and party with our shorts, drink and have fun.
We were in Bangkok/Phuket last February and we had a great time.
Any advises on a different cheap and fun country/city like that? The plane ticket price (distance) does not matter.
It's got to be a place where white Caucasian would be considered handsome (rather than locals)
We don't want to go to USA or any other European country. Thinking of Rio or Cali (Colombia), which one would be more fun and cheaper? We also love Asian counties except India. All new ideas are also welcome.
Have you considered Central America? Unless you're total manlets you'll be like giants compared to them and it's a good bit cheaper than Rio in most of CA
>>1066170
Isn't Central AMerica pretty dangerous? Which countries were you thinking?
>>1066180
I mean, everywhere is dangerous if you go to the wrong places, and everywhere is safe if you go to the right places.
I've been to Belize and Guatemala and loved both. Belize is English-speaking and more touristy and has an absolutely gorgeous reef right off the coast. I didn't go outside of Belize City and the surrounding islands.
In Guatemala, Guatemala City is very westernized and you could probably get by with English (I speak Spanish and used it a lot, but most of my hostel workers and stuff spoke English). It wasn't that touristy everywhere else but the tradeoff there is that there's less English spoken.
I would love to go to Costa Rica someday, that's the one I'd really recommend looking into more. I've never been so I won't give you advice about it but it looks like an amazing vacation.
Planning on going to Cancun for a week during spring break with my girlfriend and her roommate.
On a pretty limited budget: $1200.
I'm trying to save money by getting a hotel it downtown Cancun instead of staying at a resort. Is this a good idea? Will I end up spending more on food/drinks/cabs anyway?
On another note, I know this is gonna come off as ignorant, but is it safe? I'm trying to come back home with all my organs. And my girlfriend unraped.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
>>1065980
>And my girlfriend unraped.
well what were you planning on doing in cancun with her anyway
>>1065983
We're sharing a room with her roommate. Don't want witnesses.
>>1065983
Anyone ridden it before? I've always wanted to go from one end to the other.
How is the opinion of tourists on it? Is it difficult to navigate without speaking a lick of russian or chinese?
and how about the visa system? i have heard you would need a visa in one or more of the countries to full-ride it, but do you REALLY?
General-trans siberian thread
any stories, tips, recommendations
Locals will see you as a oddity, but there's tourists on every train now. They ride the train for a few stops because they can't fly to where they want to go. They don't see why someone would want to do it.
If you're traveling by yourself, it's difficult without any Russian. Try riding Amtrak only speaking Russian, see how far it gets you.
You need a visa. It's an extra cost to going to Russia, but unless you're interested in people smuggling you need a visa.
Try riding a train closer to where you are first, see if you like it. It kind of gets boring pretty fast, especially on east-west routes. It's pretty much this, for 5 straight days.
Only people I know who liked it had a private room, and a partner.
How cool is it to go along the railway but not in a straight shot? Many stops and detours along the way. I'm planning on doing this this summer, but I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I study Russian btw
Traveling by railway is awful boring.
By the way all of normal russians speaks english like me)
