Vault-Tec requires a new vault design.
The last vault design resulted in everyone being fired, but after a situation at Vault-Tec involving an experiment with a Death Claw and Music it resulted in half the employees dead, Vault-Tec therefore reluctantly gives everyone a second chance from the last vault design meet up.
All posts ending in 6 are truths about the vault.
If the post ends in 666 the post cannot be vetoed and the vault will start to get hellish.
Rerolls and reposting the same Idea are not allowed.

Hey there fa/tg/uys, I'm looking for ideas to make my 40k RPG GMing plain better (specifically Dark Heresy but I'm not picky). So pick any prompt and share your experiences! Shit, if nothing else we'll get to share some good stories. Any or all of the following in reference to any of the 40k RPGs:
What is the most memorable scene from your campaigns?
What is something you've always wanted to see or do in game but haven't been able/allowed to?
What is something your GM did that was straight up BAD or boring?
What is your favorite houserule?
Do you have a favorite homebrew item?
What setting was the most striking for you, out of character?
Who was your favorite NPC and why?
What was your favorite plot, subplot or mission?
Is there a game idea you'd love to play but no GM has been willing to run it?
Anything else you want to share or ideas you have, feel free to dump that jazz.

Negative. But I bet he could use the advice as well!
One time, in Black Crusade, a player of mine challenged a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch to make a battle of wits.
Now, this wasn't a challenge you could cut through with a powersword. It wasn't something you could tackle with lore skills too.
So, I dropped a player into 21-dimensional starmaze.

Does anyone here have any experience playing Epic 6? How well does it play? Is it any good?
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Epic6
>Epic6 (E6) is a variant of the Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition
Stopped reading.
It and Epic 8 do a good job at stopping the game before casters outpace martials completely while making it feel grittier-going up against a dragon feels like a planned process that takes resources and tactics, not an encounter that should be balanced for 4 x level players. That being said, there's more work from the GM to make sure higher level encounters work within the Epic 6 or 8 framework, and some settings need to be revisited before being used in e6 or e8.
I'd rather just play something different than try yet again to fix the broken mess that is D&D 3.x.
Whether it's from your own experiences or you've heard it from others, post your favourite 40k stories.
I'll start.
>playing space wolves vs my tau friend 4 years ago during a local competition fighting for 1st place
>guy has 2 squads of maxed out firewarriors on a thin bridge about 7" above ground between 2 guard towers (all terrain is custom made by employees and frequent customers)
>perfectly deepstrike both squads of my skyclaws on either side of the ~40 firewarriors.
>kill barely enough of each squad to force them to take a leadership test
>fails both
>as both exits are blocked, the only way for the firewarriors to retreat is by jumping 7" into open ground
>every single one dies
>I rek his hammerhead with my lascannon firing squad and eventually win the game and therefore the competition
>4 years later and it's still remembered as the mass firewarrior suicide
>>43944899
I had a squad of Imperial Guard, lead by a Commissar, versus Necrons. After most of my squad was murdered by Gauss fire from the Immortals, the squad rolled a morale check and failed.
Now, there were only two units left. The Commissar, and a guardsman. The Commissar's special rule kicked in, and he shot the Guardsman in the face...Then charged the Necron lines alone.
To his credit, he took out two Immortals with his power sword before he went down.

One of my favourite moments was the very first game of 40k I ever played. A friend of me plays Dark Eldar and had a few armies from two friends of him (that have like 3-4 armies each) with him to show us the game.
So we have a 6e 1100 points 4-Way battle between:
>Black templars, 10 Man Crusadersquad with Emperors Champion in a Land Raider Crusader, 5 Terminators with Cyclone and another Crusadersquad on foot.
>Space Wolfs, Logan with 5 wolfguard-terminators, a few squads of grey hunters and longfangs
>Dark Angels, Pure deepstriking Deathwing with a dreadnaught
>Dark Eldar: Archon with huskblade, Sliskus, raider with warriors , a talos, incubi and a razorwing.
I might be forgetting something, but that was about the setup.
My footsloggers get almost raped to death by longfangs and only two marines remain, Tank gets blown up by the razorwing and the guys inside underperfom against kabalite warriors, almost dying in the process. The Terminators are killed by the Deathwing, which in return gets killed by Logan. Total chaos and confusion until the end.
I have the Emperors Champion with 4 crusaders and the two lonely marines that only survived because a bunch of incubi started hacking up the longfangs.
Then everyone notices that i'm the only one holding any objectives and win the game with 6 models left.
>>43944899
I played a lopsided abortion of kill team once
>one guy had all his guard which amounted to a squad and a leman russ
>I had a squad of Chaos Terminators
>Another guy had a venerable dreadnought
>Me and the dreadnought had to gank the guard guy
>attempt to do so
>dreadnought raped the guard and destroyed the leman russ
>but not before a single fucking guardsman killed three of my Terminators then failing leadership
Considering the bad end Eisenhorn got, he should have just banged Bequin and took the insanity points.

>On similar, did he realize he loved her after she was fried because her lack of soul stopped tainting his perspective?
Possibly. It's always arguable that the massive swing he experienced from her lack of soul was mistaken for love.

Who's this? Eisenhorn in the past and present, obviously, but the rest?

You could always try matchmaking on roll20 or similar websites?
>5e's guideline for starting wealth is in uselessly wide bands
>guideline for "high magic campaign" level 4 wealth is the same ratty equipment at level 1
>fighters and paladins are still stuck in chain armor if they start at level 4 even in a "high magic campaign"
>heck, fighters and paladins starting at level 10 in a "standard campaign" still have no plate armor because plate costs 1.5k, and no magic weapon either in a game full of monsters that take half/no damage from mundane weapons
Why is this the assumed baseline?
>>43944232
>entirely at your discretion
>you can use ... as a guide
>>43944232
Because 5e is gamist not simulationist, and earning wealth in-game is more fun than starting out rich.
Also, levels 1-3 are apprentice territory. You don't even get your oath as a paladin in until level 3
>>43944232
Because this game doesn't scale as strongly with equipment as other games, so there's no reason to dress people in bits and baubles like a fucking christmas tree.
Plus, as long as some functional baseline is met, it's generally speaking more interesting to have less than more in a game where acquiring interesting things is a primary motivator.
Where do I find a detailed strategy for each house?
>>43944151
By not playing that trash
>>43944151
By getting good you scrub
Seriously, why the fuck do you want other people to tell you how to play the game?
>>43944151
That game looks like a fucking mess.
there is something that feels bad when shooting down a troll or a dragon with revolvers and rifles.
Which are some monsters that would look cool in a late XIX century america setting? I don't mind they're accurate mythically or not, but I'd like things that are fun to shoot at.(I can't believe you we're gonna say Indians, anon. You're sick)
>>43944149
Werewolves?
Werewolves and vampires have been done. How about some kind of troll or bog monster for some musketmen to slog through the marshes to hunt.
The forces of the Yankee government
>online GMs
>good GMs disappear without a word 0-2 sessions into the game
>bad GMs linger forever, never fess up to doing something wrong, never take feedback on improving the game
>personally GM multiple times a week, point out whatever I do wrong in retrospect, and constantly ask for honest feedback on how to make my games better
>this is what I get in return
How do you find a good online GM who can last longer than 0-2 sessions?
>>43944035
keep trying until it hurts and then some?
>>43944035
Keep trying. We are out there, but most give up after some awful experiences.
I gave up on online GMing for a year after I got two groups back to back who flaked on the first session. All of them.
>>43944035
What makes a good GM/player varies from person to person. All you can do is keep trying until you find someone who fits. I've never flaked on a game in my life, but I have left countless ones. I've met tons of people who love my GMing, and just as many who've run away trailing a cloud of insults.
Part 2 of an ongoing quest
You are a party consisting of Colonial marine number 12672 (CMN), a big tiddied predator huntress (BTP) and a xenomorph waifu lady that was seduced by the marine (LXW)
You're in a bit of a pickle. Stuck in an alien hive and with BTP being impregnated facehugger style just there now you have a few options to start:
>Press on. We'll deal with the parasite when it comes
>Get LXW to give her a deep, DEEP kiss to try to pull the egg out
>Surgery involving what you have, which is a cigar, a big knife and no drugs to knock her out
INVENTORY:
>Pulse rifle with underslung spine launcher
>Rocket didlo laucher
>plasma caster
>An Australian knife
>A cigar that never goes out that CMN always smokes
>One mech suit. Only LXW knows how to ride it
>One bundle of fun in BTP's chest waiting to pop out
