Summoner Wars, maybe some new metal coins for assorted games.
A pile of money to throw at the latest Heroes of Normandie Kickscammer would be nice.

>What's you're favorite game at the moment? of 2015?
Favorite full stop right now is still Twilight Imperium, been making up some modified components with extras FFG sent me.
Favorite of 2015 has to be Chaosmos, just for being the most interesting original design I've played. Fury of Dracula 3's a close second.

Still waiting on Mare Nostrum with baited breath.
Also maybe we could get Ta-Seti sometime this decade? That'd be cool.

Nothing, although I'm planning on getting 1-2 card games in January. Nothing concrete yet I want something 1v1 and something that works well with more people.

At the moment? Kemet I think.

>Are you looking forward to any release?

Nothing comes to mind. Maybe Scythe, but I'm not so sure about it.

Hello everyone! I'm pretty fresh to GM'ing (Only been doing so for 3 months) And I have a question.

Have hosted 3 different campaigns, one of which is ended, one which is weekly, one which is biweekly, and I have a reoccuring problem.

My players are really interested in sandbox-styled campaigns, as am I. However, there's been a really large issue with character-to-character relations. My players (understandably so) wish to do different things from each-other, like, vastly different. I understand this is an obvious side-effect of a campaign without a set goal, but it's completely off the charts. Players have such different interests, that at times, they wont even interact with each-other, or aid other party member(s)' goals.

I've tried to remedy this by taking into consideration the interests of every player's character, and it has helped a very great deal (I.E., you have a typical Mercenary style fighter and a druid in the same party, make quest that both pays well and threatens to destroy the forest if not accomplished.) However, this is feeling like more of a band-aid than a solution, as there is still a disconnect.

One of these games might be dropping soon (a few of my players wont be able to make it anymore) and I'm going to be starting another.

So what I ask is, are there any tips you can give on how to keep my players connected to each-other, without stomping on the freedom that sandbox promises them? Thank you all very much for any feedback!

What you could do is present a few hooks for overarching goals and see if there's anything they all leap at. I'm sure you can think of a few breadcrumb trails for them to look into.

Anything involving large-scale war should interest the druid. Forests are a great source of wood for siege weaponry. It should likewise interest the mercenary fighter for obvious reasons. Or, maybe they'll just find some of the plot hooks interesting as players.
>>
If you ever figure it out let me know. I found it best to let them know that too much soloing on game night isn't allowed and to get their sandbox stuff out of the way 1 on 1 with me on Skype during the non game sessions.
>>
>>44243069
That's what I had been attempting, and like I've stated, it's left the game in far better condition. However it doesn't seem to stick.

Since this game is a true sandbox, with me coming up with hooks as the players show interest, or sometimes forcing hooks into existence, I've also allowed any morality, as it has potential for excellent plot depth. However, I feel like this is beginning to hurt the party. We have one neutral-evil and one neutral-good, and they've fought on 3 occasions, each time getting closer to lethal.

Another thing that has been hurting my players, is that the very little time they get to solo RP things, such as romantic involvements with NPC's, diplomatic arrangements, etc., the other players tend to find a way to mess it up, and usually not in an interesting or enjoyable way.

I would say my player group is fairly new, but I don't blame all of this on them. Should I try to implement some more forcible measures? Like alignment restrictions?

If you're not go full old school roll 3d6 down the line. How do handle character death in your games? Especially just inserting 'bill's lost twin brother will' doesn't feel right for the story.

I was think of having a sliver age super hero game where in a player's each get a low level kid sidekick to take over in the event their man super hero dies.

After at least 3 sessions of playing say Fallout boy they can decided to either bring the old hero back or continue with the hopeful now developed replacement character.

The last pathfinder game I played, we were all members of a mercenary group and the GM had us roll up 3 characters a piece. The "missions" we were hired to do were usually done in teams of 3 since there were three of us, but the band itself was much larger, so if one of our characters died (or we simply wanted a change of pace) we could switch to another, or even make up and add characters mid-game.

Loot and Exp was gained among all characters equally, under the assumption the ones we wern't using at the time were off doing their own missions.

'sup /tg/ newbie GM here.
Trying to prep a simple treasure hunt adventure, where the PC's are trying to find the tomb of an old king and loot it for riches (Twist: tomb is actually prison for a wraith, said king's lingering soul).

What I'm trying to do is use the Three Clue rule/Node Based Adventure design to make finding the location of the tomb an adventure of its own. However, I find it hard to seed enough clues (in a way that makes sense) so that my players can derive the tombs location on their own, short of just handing them a map with a big old red X.

Any of you got any experience doing this?

Maybe, a few ruined buildings that lead the way to the place? Or a ruined road that's half overgrown so they lose it along the way?
>>
>>44242336
Give them legends of great wealth, stories of adventurers going missing, maybe a drunk old man remembering his greatest regret.
>>
This is really simple, actually. You just need to answer some basic questions to help you figure out where your tomb is hiding:

>Who built it, and why?
>Where is it relative to the player's starting location?
>How much is known about it?
>How much do the players start the game knowing?
>How obscure would information about it be?

If your players are starting completely dry and only learning "You need to go find Tomb" and nothing else, the first step will always be them needing to get their bearings. This comes in the form of the players either A.) Consulting their own skills and knowledge in order to find a likely starting direction, or B.) Consulting someone nearby that will likely have that information. This can easily be a local sage, a bard, or an explorer's guild.

Let's say for this quest, you choose the Guild, because why not. So the players hear "Hey, the Guild has lots of old local legends and maps, go ask them if they know where the tomb is.", so the players go there, and the Guild is willing to give them the information in exchange for something from the tomb that validates it's existence. Let's say....an ancient tome that was said to be buried there. Boom, you have an imperative for the players and a direction.

MORE TO COME.

Sup /tg/, I come to you with a story, the story of my finally finished campaign. This is the story of how a group of dumb, shy beginners got from 3rd level to 20th and defeated a demon lord, and learned a bit about roleplaying.

The party received some addition by a couple NPCs, and eventually accepted an extra player in their midst, one of my closest friends and a talented roleplayer.

Now I must admit a few things before starting: I had been lurking /tg/ for quite some time before getting my hands on this newbie party and I had no one else to play with to experiment on roleplaying, mostly because I never really had the chance to do so with my former group, which had disbanded around the time of our graduation from high school. I was a forever DM whose adventures ended more because of lack of thrill than by a commonly accepted end of the story.
After coming to /tg/, I discovered a lot about good stories and I wanted to make one of my own, but to do so I started by taking bits of already posted stories and adding them to mine. I got enthralled by the sad old wizard story ('I love you, see you in the morning', for those that were in that thread like me) and by many stories of cool sidekicks, like Shoggy the Seldom Dog and that one in which the elven guy with no friend who was always there for the PGs. Believing in inspiration through imitation, I turned the story which was supposed to be the average fantasy game into MY fantasy game. I called the campaign Keys of the Kingdom (no relation with Kingdom Hearts whatsoever).
I'm also a drawfag so I'll dump some of the stuff I sketched during the campaign. The party picture was done at halfway the campaign, as a reward for surviving so long without a TPK.

And so it began.

First of all, the party.

-The Good Guy (we'll call him GG) - a kind, beta dude that presented the other players to me. Likes surfing weird shit and memes but remains a good-hearted fellow.
Decided to play Odric of Hoberia, a human paladin of the goddess Azah, a poor orphan taken in by the Church-State of Hoberia and, not knowing any better, trained as a soldier of the holy order of the Hospitaliers. Despite not knowing, he was always the heart of the group he hanged out with, and so it became the same for the party.
His character was one of the toughest guys, and also the kindest, yet stern and strong as a rock. His entire group of fellow soldiers was slaughtered in the woods by an unknown force, and the higher-ups didn't allow him back in the ranks, believing he had murdered them or otherwise lied about their deaths.

-The Meme Master (we'll call him MM) - if GG was into memes, he WAS the meme. He was always making TF2 and MLG references, sometimes too often.
Actual fedoraguy, from hat to gangster suit. He wasn't exactly the handsomest guy in town.

His character was Baskor Blackforge, dwarven fighter on saddle, axe-crazy jewish master of trade, and prodigal son of a dwarven noble family. His unadherence to the clan customs after his father's death made him run away from his home.
His main ability was being ugly. Unfortunately for me, he often forgot the rules as soon as I explained them to him.
>>
>>44241662
-The TryHard (we'll call him TH) - a fit dude that plays lots of vidya, enjoys The Walking Dead and always tries too, too hard. Like, really too hard. Everytime someone said anything in or out of the game, he had to come up with a retort, a pun, anything to look cool. It was rarely funny, and even more rarely cool.

All he wanted was to make an expy of Geralt of Rivia, namely Garrett of Etorian, and he always struggled with all the rules not going the way he had imagined by playing vidya. I tried to arrange something to make his character blend all that mishmash he had in mind together (ranger-alchemist-witch-eldritch knight), but he still wouldn't be happy and diverted from my advice guidelines whenever he leveled up. I denied him a 'mutant' monster archetype from the beginning, telling him that since he had problems even using base classes he would have to earn that through the game.
Still, I gladly accepted his request to make witchers a thing in my setting. After all, I didn't plan anything ahead, so a bit of input from the players would help me make the setting as I went on. His character backstory was a simple one: his parents sent him to the first monster-slaying mutant hunter they could find to get rid of him, and he would follow his master wherever the dude would go, until he would abandon him without making a full witcher out of him. He was bitter, cold and gloomy towards most people (but would gladly fuck any wench) and despite 'scorning the thing he was going to become', he would look for traces of his master in every city he passed through. He also had medium scores which he would deem not enough to do everything he needed, but hey, he was expecting to be the ace at everything just like an experienced monster-hunter from a single-character game.
>>
>>44241709
-The Nerd Girl (we'll call her NG) - an actual nerd, not really charming or quirky like many attention whores I had at the gaming table. Actually it was quite the opposite, as she had trouble doing anything during the first sessions and whenever her character spoke, it sounded like he was reciting the grocery list. This problem eventually disappeared as her more emotional side kicked in.
Since she was a big fan of the Silmarillion and could actually remember every fucking name in it, she decided to make a male elven fighter named Aegnor, but after rolling a fuckton of good rolls in physical stats, she changed her mind and made him a silent, gruff, STRONK human, a woodcutter enlisted in a war between nearby counties and soon MIA.
She eventually leveled up as barbarian and ranger to get the right mix of brutality for what her character would eventually turn into.

-The Outsider (we'll call him OP2, since I'm obviously the faggot who opens threads, and he was, sort of, my good companion in this adventure) - this dude was a friend of mine, who had started playing rpgs only a year before, showing amazing natural skills in roleplaying, and, as we went ahead, a mind for powerplaying.
He was at first just a spectator and a counselor, but after some time it was clear that he was craving a place at the table with the others, and so I allowed him to have it... but not immediately. I had told him the ways I was going to shape the campaign and the plot hooks I had in mind, so first I let him be a half-NPC and, as we reached the end of the story, a full-fledged character.
If you are wondering which one of the characters in the picture he was, I'll tell you he wasn't there. I drew all illustrations of the campaign as we proceeded, and sometimes even before we got there, but he wasn't on the team yet, just an interference in their story. The goblin near the paladin and the elf in the background are DMPCs that I added by my choice and sometimes by theirs. We'll get there.

Any anime bros here? What would be the best way to roll Parn from Record Of Lodoss War?
43 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
Parn was a fighter. Pretty blatant that. You could possibly multiclass him to Paladin later, but he does tell a goddess to go fuck herself
>>
You use the system the writer of Lodoss used.
>>
>>44240933

Depends on the system, but I'd generally say "not well."

If we're looking at D&D, which is going to be Lodoss' closest equivalent, he's pretty much a straight fighter, is the thing. So if there's a "fighter" or "warrior" class, that's him. Sadly, fighters tend to suck quite badly in the most popular editions. You might do okay with 4e, though.

I'm not sure why you'd want to roll Parn, though. He's pretty unremarkable in the OVA series, at least. He's better in the novels, but those aren't even translated.

I want to run a game where everyone is a waitress in a Chinese Restaurant and you have to use all your skills to not fuck it up and make the restaurant a success.

Like, you could have different paths to get people to come in. You could use sex appeal and just hypnotits and flirty, you could be talky and just cute and friendly, you could do tricks. It'd be fun.

Challenges would be like a party, or not having the right ingredients, or too many people, or bloody fucking yelpers. You've either got to find a way so they'll stay or get rid of them without a bad review.

The cast consists of (left to right):
>Mayumi
A slut (whores do it for money, sluts do it for the love of the game) virgin who was highly educated on the occult. She was basically the foil for every other character.

>Akina
A turbo edgelord who dressed like a male delinquent. Almost murdered Mayumi "by accident." Secretly a yaoi artist.

>Yuudai
A big dude who tended to take offense to everything we did, since most of what we did was morally grey and nonsensical. Later accidentally got a harem but was too dense to notice even though everyone kept bringing it up.

>Saito
Turbo dork who loved rhythm games. He didn't wear the school uniform and only used slang. Too cool for this school to a tee. Yuuri's love interest.

>Yuuri
Vice President. She would become a catgirl every so often and every time we entered combat. Later it was revealed that her dead sister inhabited her body and was the cat side. She was basically the party face and the closest thing we had to a MC.

>Kirika
A young adult elf who was a lesbian. Literally everyone knew this from the very first time they met her, but she didn't think anyone knew and tried to hide it. Tried to get with Yuuri until she got BTFO.

>Katsuki
The club president, a conspiracy theory loving nationalist. She was the DMPC because the system required one, and to keep her from being a Mary Sue her stats were in the trash.

>Cerys
An angry half Brit who never stopped being mad at anyone and everything. Had poor speech skills and tended to word salad all the time.

>Raidou
Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series. Also Katsuki's love interest.

And later (and not in the pic):
>Mari
Also known as Moori. A big T H I C K girl who was pretty much a lewd chaos magician. Dialogue consisted of obscure occult terms and sexual innuendo.

Setting wise, the campaign took place in 2019 after the economy of Japan crashed. Y'know, something that could actually happen. The entire school is recorded and broadcast around the world to raise money through merch sales.

The first proper adventure we went on after doing introductions and the like was cheerleading. The baseball team needed cheerleaders and implied that we were the only club that was willing to do it (that wasn't mostly traps). We volunteered because Yuuri always wanted to be a cheerleader or something. It turned out they were lying, and the drama club was also taking part. The drama club was basically the closest thing we had to a rival club, since the club pres was a huge tsundere bitch. The guys proceeded to fuck off and hang out with the drama club member who refused to cheerlead.

While the paranormal club makes racist chants and proceeds to basically make asses of their-selves, the guys were told that the drama club had a special book and they could do something cool. Something cool in this case meant "summon demons and kill the entire audience." Yuudai, having been tricked, spends the entire next scene blaming himself, as the rest of the club is busy trying not kill everything. He ends up violently beating Mayumi into unconsciousness. Also by accident.

Hello Elegen/tg/entlemen.

When making my D&D setting, I realized that with enough money and time, a middle class citizen of the Kingdom can hire a magic tutor. I figured if this was possible, there would be a whole class of citizen that is at least somewhat magically adept.

What I want from you is to pick THREE cantrips from the D&D/Pathfinder books that YOU would choose to learn to use in normal everyday life*.

*Tech level is around 1850.

Friend been talking about running a Song of Ice and Fire campaign with the Green Ronin RPG.

He does seem to get a bit salty when I whip up a character with the following stats:

Fighting: 6
Athletics: 6
Agility: 6
Endurance: 6
Awareness: 6
Cunning: 4
Will: 4
Survival: 3
Marksmanship: 3
Animal Handling: 2
Everything else: 1

Leftover 60 points to bump up either two of the 6s to 7, either of two of the 4s up to 5 or one up to 6.
Specialties would probably end up drumped on resilience and stamina.
Also picked Massive, Tough and Weapon Savant, then some shit like marked, threatening, mute or bastard drawbacks or some such shit to make the character even more wretched.

This is entirely possible to start off with an adult character.

The idea was to make a feral child dumped into a fighting pit and not let out until several years later when someone from the player house comes by and brings it along. Becomes extremely devoted to host family, sorta like a dog. I'm well aware with person will be socially retarded and unable to speak properly or function in civilized society without help.
Is this as gamebreaking as he fears it could be? Am I making pic related?

>Is this as gamebreaking as he fears it could be?
Not if he remembers to add a bunch of INTRIGUE and problems that can't be solved with direct combat, but then it will be less "Haha, xXFAGBALLSXx has a challenge!" and more "xXFAGBALLSXx has nothing to do here".

>Am I making pic related?
Yes, but it's easily fixed by giving up a couple points to add just a little variety, and then make sure you make xXFAGBALLSXx have some interesting traits and a sense of personal initiative outside of combat.

Otherwise you're just going to be sitting there fiddling with your dick until your trainer throws your pokeball onto the field.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
