Why still play the tabletop when this comes out?
No Tomb Kings, for one.
>>44689075
Also no Skaven.
>>44689044
Because it's only going to have five armies at first, and even then they will only have part of their rosters done. I don't blame CA for this because the Warhammer universe is fairly large, but we will certainly still have a place for 8th edition, 9th Age, and Age of Sigmar when it comes out.
ITT: What do you think of Darths & Droids ? (ie: Concept, quality, history)
http://www.darthsanddroids.net/
(For those who don't know what Darths & Droids is, it's a webcomics about a Star wars P&P game using the films as material, following the history but changing [a lot] of stuff)
I like it. It's like DM of the Rings, if the DM intended people to have fun.
Started good but as it went on it became just another group of RPers fucking about in a webcomic. There are already hundreds of those.
>>44689107
>the DM intended people to have fun.
Anon's reasoning is spot on and exactly why it bores me. DMotR was something different made up of familiar things, including frustrating railroading. I enjoyed that bitter note to it far more than a bunch of nerds having fun playing a game. I can do that in my own time.
I like how there's character progression "outside" of the campaign, and they occasionally make reference to other movies or shows that, in their world, were campaigns that they had run.
It's a fun little detail that adds a bit of realism.
What do high level fantasy cities look like? How are they different from other cities
This.
You can go home now, folks.

I thought Sigil was in a cloudy void. What setting does it float out the tip of some giant spire?
>>44688891
Are there suburbs of sigil? Like certain doors which consistently open to the same place, so mid level wizards take up residence there to avoid the commute and also being horribly murdered?
Welcome to Academy City. The time is morning, the weather is bright, and the date is February 4.
You are Kyril Torikov, Level 3 telekinetic ‘superhero’ and you had just woken up. Another problem was brewing, though this time it was Touma’s luck that it had came to his notice first. Your civilian identity had come under scrutiny. It wasn’t just an idle glance either. Touma himself had received a letter in his shoebox as part of the investigation. You ignored that it had touched off a bit of a tizzy when he had found it. As it was a Sunday, Touma was hoping that the two of you could meet to settle matters before it got out of hand. That sounded like a great waste of your time. You had confidence that he could solve that problem easily. He had brokered a ceasefire between the British Commonwealth and France and Germany. This should be child’s play to him. You put the decision on hold for now as you sat down for some breakfast in front of the telly.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, tragedy had struck. A news report, live from the Vatican, was going on about the assassination of the Roman Catholic Pope. Another channel had a talk show discussing the implications of such a high profile assassination. This was especially important considering the Crusade going on. Most commentators hoped that this could be the start of reconciliation between the City and the rest of Christianity. The culprit had yet to be found so a suspicious death like this could easily be attributed to Academy City. It all depended on the vote from the College of Cardinals. Obviously this had yet to affect you and you didn’t think that you would be able to influence the vote. That was why Nayuta’s message for you to show up for a security briefing was surprising. You still had some time though so if you hurried you could sort things out with Touma first thing this morning.

DMing my first episodic (each session is a self-contained story with no real relation to each other) campaign. How does one properly end such a campaign?
Death or an epilogue with the players inputs.
>go on exotic vacation
>spend entire vacation worrying how you're going to describe it to your friends when you get home
>don't actually have any fun on your exotic vacation because you're too worried about how you're going to describe it to your friends when you get home
This is you OP
We do that with our Cthulhu games when everyone cant make it. We just end the session and the players get an epilogue of the effects of their choices which carry over to the next episode.
I am a casual gamer, possible a little more than casual. I play board games, MtG, thinking of playing Weiss Schwarz, and what not. Now the one game I'm hesitant to try is D&D. I hear so much and want to play it but have no one to actually play with. I know there is a game shop a few miles from my home and I am considering going. So long story short, should I try playing D&D and a reason why.
>>44688067
You should try. The thing is, D&D is one of the most social games. Asking to play with a group can put a strain on the party, and a group which meets at the game store likely has some amount of sway with the managers there. Ask if you can sit in on a few sessions. Maybe see if you can play a page or apprentice character, someone who helps a PC dress in their armor, passes off potions and so on.
>>44688067
Yes, because if you done like it you don't have to play again. I really don't understand why you would be hesitant
If you have to ask, the answer is probably "no". If you really want to play, you'd do it.
New to DnD and was wondering how necromancers are treated by NPCs?
I get that the magic itself is taboo but uf you dont use it around the NPCs will they still treat you poorly?
Could you use this dark atmosphere around your character as a kind of intimidation?
Use it to enchance a storytelling, poetry, musical performance?
>Tl;dr
>Is being a necromancers always a bad thing?
>Will you always be treated as such?
If it is taboo and they know you are a neckromancer, then they will either treat you with suspicion, hatred, or fear. If they don't, then they will treat your Nekomancer like every other stranger.
>>44687969
You can use dark Magic, but any time you cast a spell with the [evil] descriptor, like say animate dead, it counts as an evil act. Necromancers can be good, but only if they're willing to toe that line. If I were you, I'd make your necromancer part of a good church, wear priest robes and all.
Is unseen servant strong enough to carry a body?
How does /tg/ feel about ultra-anachronistic settings? I'm not talking about "autist-triggering armor pieces being used 60 years too early and the French dialect being geographically wrong", I'm talking about "this kingdom has steampunk Italians and the neighboring kingdoms have magical Arabians and Stargate Aztecs" (to use pic related, a prominent example)
If they were a hermit kingdom that normal people feared and created fantastical rumors about, I could see it working fine

you, and your players, might have a better time having fun without us
As long as it's well put together and creates a fun backdrop, I don't mind at all.
How do you make the description of a room compelling?
>>44687435
Talk about what's interesting about the room
>>44687435
You make interesting rooms.
Use all five senses.
Use Appendix A (dungeon dressing) from Stonehell Dungeon.
Rely on your player's imaginations rather than details. You can just say, "You enter a smelly, damp room," and that's enough.

You are Anode, Captain of the Maverick Hunters, Fourth Overland Unit, and you are currently having a bad time.
You are on-mission somewhere in remote Canadastan, in pursuit of Soul Foxfire, a hacker-for-hire who has apparently either A: converted a massive cyberspace research facility into a dynamic neural array experimentation lab, B: lured you into a labyrinth of unreality and virtual illusions, or C: both.
And she's a FUCKING NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD.
>>44686494
You've expended your heaviest special weapon ammo, but you're doing okay on your utility kit. You've taken not-inconsiderable damage, you've been forced to go from path Fuck This Noise to path Also Fuck This Noise, and she dropped a bowl of cereal on your head.
Things could be going better.
You've opted to try to take back initiative by forging ahead, rather than moving slowly and methodically. You're ascending what seems like a giant, empty ventilation turbine, a fan twirling slowly and lazily overhead, filtering light through the blades. All around, scaffolding and catwalks and causeways. And on the walls, Dodge Blasters--quick-moving mechaniloid guns that have an obnoxious tendency to scoot out of the way when they read incoming fire.
You ascend as fast as you can, as far as you can, using your EAS and coils to good effect.
And that's when you're sideswiped by a flash of light, catching you midjump and nearly sending you tumbling back down to the lowest level, only a T. Coil snaring a handrail keeping you from taking the whole trip twice.
God damn it, it was another Hotarion.
You hear another pass coming.
>Not twice, motherfuckers--gun them down.
>Go defensive. No more losing ground to the strafing.
>Other?
>>44686503
>Go defensive. No more losing ground to the strafing.
>>44686503
>Go Defensive.
Those things are a pain, but judging by past experiences they are also followed by something else and keep coming. Use your mobility to dodge those who get in the way and the jump jets when needed.
Be on guard in case more bullshit happens... which will likely happen.
