Why does everyone think it's not viable? I've seen Krenko decks slaughter every deck he fights. Same with Kikki. Copy big ass dragons for the win. I've been thinking about making one and I'm asking for some pro and cons of mono red EDH.
Thanks :-)

First of all, EDH is kinda retarded, but it's all right if you like it.

If you're playing with more than 1 opponent, mono-Red's biggest problem is that it can't draw cards. It gets a lot better if you're playing on teams, though.

Red's color pie is rather limited. Artifacts are your best friend. For instance, Red Decks typically have bad longevity because they're so offense-oriented. Slap a couple Equipment that grant Lifelink or whatever to fix this. Loxodon Warhammer is a favorite of mine for this.

Red Combo Decks can do well in chaos games too. Skirk Fire Marshall does 10 damage to each creature and player if you can tap 5 Goblins. Slap Loxodon Warhammer on it and suddenly your Life Total is higher than most Yu-gi-oh monsters. Another combo is to store a dangerous creature or two that oyu own like a Dragon or something inside Helvault. Then cast Jokulhaups. Jokulhaups destroys all Creatures, Artifacts, and Lands, so your dangerous creature has nothing to block it, and your opponents can't cast any spells to stop it since you killed all their mana production. Proceed to kill them at your leisure.

Remember, in Mon-Red, Artifacts are your best friend.

Just some ideas.
>>
>>44695418
Thanks for the input. I completely agree with the life gain and card draw part. Defs would have Loxodon, Basilisk collar, and I also like batterskull. No one expects red to shoot of in life. Another good combo I saw was pairing Phosphorus with Krenko and just shitting mass goblins at 2 a pop then attack with all.
>>
>>44694940
Because Kikki, Krenko, and Purphoros are the ONLY viable monored EDH decks, and those are all combo decks.
There's a distinct lack of variety in monored because your options are 'stupid combo' or 'roll over and die' due to a lack of longevity.

Fucking witches. Fucking Kris.

These are your first thoughts as you worm your way into consciousness.

You seem to have awakened on your back, laying in the grass. It's outside- you can tell by the sun shining on your face. Your head feels as if it is full almost to bursting, each beat of your heart seeming another twist on the vice that surrounds it. Keeping this in mind, you stay still for a little bit to see if it subsides.

...

After thirty beats on the drum inside your head, it's probably safe to say that the headache isn't going anywhere immediately.

You try to remember how you got here, and experience a moment of alarm when you realize you cannot. The moment turns into several, as you realize you can remember nothing about anything. You open your eyes and sit up, and immediately regret that as the pain in your head grows excruciating

No... No, actually, you think you remember something. You remember...

Your name:
> [ ]

And that you are an Unbound, and a little bit about what that means.

...Also, looking down at yourself, it is evident that you are a:

>Boy
>Girl

And that you are:

>White
>Lighter tan
>Darker tan
>Black

You remember thinking of Kris's name, but nothing else about... her? Him? So, not much of a starting point there.

Well, regardless of your mental status, you figure you have two options here. You can stay here, waiting for your headache to go away a bit- likely the healthier option- or you can go look for someone. Maybe figure out where the hell you are.

>Stay and rest for a bit

Depends on what you want. There are many, many different types of religious people, even those who hold ranks in devout organizations and are fervent believers in their faith.

>The Prophet:
The Prophet seeks to go out and spread the Word of their faith through deeds and actions, often heedless of the dangers of doing so. He or she is willing to preach and amass a following in hostile environments and unfaithful cities, and sees the possibility of death or harm as being irrelevant compared to doing the will of their God. Nothing matters to them but their faith, and spreading it among the masses.

>The Inquisitor:
Not to be confused with the Imperial Inquisition, The Inquisitor is as equally pious and devout as The Prophet. Unlike the Prophet, however, the Inquisitor focuses far more on policing other religious individuals within their faith rather than on converting nonbelievers, and views unity of purpose and structure as being absolutely critical to their faith. While this does not necessarily mean that they oppose debate and discussion in their ranks, actual division among members is strictly intolerable to the Inquisitor.

>The Missionary
A smaller subset of The Prophet, The Missionary believes in going out and converting other people through their words, actions and deeds. However, unlike the Prophet, they focus generally on one specific area or issue rather than the movement as a whole, such as education, literacy, providing food and water to the needy, etc. Missionaries may eventually become Prophets, but it is far from a requirement, and many Missionaries are perfectly content to perform their duties and do them to the best of their ability rather than aspire to grand power.

>The Wandering Priest
The Wandering Priest is somewhat like the Missionary, except he does not stick around in one place for very long. He most often believes in traveling wherever the wind takes him, and resolving issues and performing acts of faith along the way.
>>
>>44695045
This is solid advice. Don't be one of those fags that thinks all commissars are grimstupid executioners, all Sisters are dumb fire and brimstone, or all inquisitors blow up planters every Tuesday. Every group has a large number of divergent ways to think, and the Imperium is so massive that there isn't much conformity beyond Emperor = Good

Just a separate thread that can be focused on discussion of the open.

What do people think of the top 8 line up?

I unfortunately wasn't able to catch day one and am pretty excited at seeing what sort of power a mainboard Keranos brings to the table in twin.

>>
Well that was quick, turns out having both the ability to create pressure and combo out trumps better individual creatures.
>>
Really glad Goryo's is in top 8, it makes for some interesting games. Shame Hoogland's brew lost to it but he's a faggot so screw it.
Basically I'm glad that almost half of the top 8 decks are "Tier 2" decks, shame about decks like Merfolk and Infect not showing up though.
>>
>>44694403
Why do people hate Hoogland again? I just know it seems universal in the MTG community. I do really like Kiki-Chord desu, and this is a pretty cool top 8.

Just lost another Archaeologist to some soldier ants in minetown. I knew magic missile but was unskilled in attack spells, with a failure rate a 65% -- pretty decent for a spell in a school you're unskilled at. I lined myself up to cast magic missile at the ants as they marched through an alley, but failed. I realized then that I did not have enough Pw to attempt another casting. I tried run away, but you know how fast those buggers are. I tried to throw a potion of sleeping in the head ant's face, only to get caught in my own fumes and get gnawed to death before I could wake up.

I'm really starting to feel the weight of the Elbereth nerfs.

Lessons learned:
>Before taking a dicey action, always consider the consequences of failure. If I had realized that I only had one chance to successfully cast magic missile, I might not have given the ants the chance to get me.
>Don't throw dangerous potions in melee range. (derp)

Last time, on Star Dust Quest...

With Ley'ra's shiny new armour, you continued on your trek down floor AA, only to come across more of those stalker mutants. Things got a little hairy (with egg puns, courtesy of Sya'ra), but you managed to find the nest and remove a sizable portion of the stalker population. It seems like they tried to hit you with everything you got, even their supposed 'stalker mothers' who could spew acid.

Fortunately, Comet came to the rescue with a strange force-shield of sorts. Unfortunately, it seems Connell noticed the strange suit hiding under her cloaks.

“I can stand,” Comet mutters, groggily shaking her head while placing a hand on your shoulder to stand up.

“Are you sure?” Beth asks while holding her arm to help her stand. She looks over to Connell, who's resumed burning away the biomass. “I'm sure we can take it easy now... right?”

“I wouldn't count on that,” he answers, his body still focused forwards while his flamethrower does all the work. Ivan, Ley'ra, and Sya'ra are still standing nearby with their weapons ready. “I think we took care of most of them, but there's always stragglers. Always.”

“Fair enough,” you say, now standing beside Comet. She looks like she's recovered fine enough to walk. “Should we head back?”

“Soon,” Connell responds, walking slowly as he moves to burn more biomass. Several large eggs make a sickening squelching sound before exploding from the intense heat. “I'm almost done here, but we have to make sure the fire goes out safely before leaving. Last thing we want is to burn down Unfound.”

“Sounds like a good idea,” you comment, turning to Comet. “Why don't you sit while we wait? I think we can take care of any stragglers, and you look like you need the rest.”

“Okay,” she responds, nodding to Beth who helps her to the ground.

You shoulder your shotgun while scanning the room with your eyes for the next while, remaining vigilant while Comet rests near you. There doesn't appear to be any more of the low humming noise nor the scratching-inside-the-walls, indicating that you may have actually eradicated all the stalkers. However, you can hear the faint sounds of gunshots coming from below, dampened enough to indicate that the next floor down is quite far. You wonder just how far apart these floors are.

Twenty minutes later, Connell has finally burned away all the biomass and the fire has all died down. The room is practically covered in as and the air is smoky, but a lot of it seems to be funneling up somewhere.
>>
>>44693154
“Vents,” he explains, patting his flamethrower nozzle before fastening it to his side. “This facility has a sort of chimney system through all the floors. I suspect it was some sort of fire countermeasure to prevent smoke from choking everyone to death.”

“Neat,” you say, checking your shotgun while you prepare to go on the trek back to the floor elevator. “How's it going on the assault?”

“They're having fun, of course,” he chuckles, presumably listening in on the comms of his comrades. “Stay alert. Many fall victim to letting their guard down after a victory.”

“Blech, I just hope we killed them all,” Sya'ra comments, shaking her shoulders. “Almost getting face-fucked is going to be one of my worst memories. P-T-S-D for the next few weeks, I'm sure of it.”

“You say that every time,” Ley'ra pipes up.

“Hey, I've never fought a mutant before. Cut me some slack.”

“I agree,” Ivan calls out from the side. “I only wish to remove more of these hellbeasts.”

Connell laughs heartily. “Well, lucky for you guys, once we clear up these next few floors, the Unfound facility will be open for exploration once again.”

You turn to him. “What do you mean?”

“You're free to come back down into this facility to explore some floors, if you'd wish. We just ask that you detail us on any floor maps you find or any other interesting findings you come across, especially if they're related to the history of this facility.”

“Sweet, we'll keep that in mind,” you say, eyebrows raised.

“Hah, does that make us Dustkeepers, then?” Ivan laughs.

“Hmm.” Connell taps his chin. “I don't see why not. You're the type of person to fit around here anyways. Even if not, you're definitely a friend of ours.”

A girlish squeal startles you. Looking to your side, you're somewhat unsurprised to see Ivan dancing giddily.

“I have become Dustkeeper! Take that, Bolshtik!” he says, fist pumping into the air.
>>
>>44693175
“Who's Bolshtik?” Beth mutters.

“Anyways, I've sent out a message to my secretary to let you know your contract has been fulfilled,” Connell says, walking towards the exit of the smoldering room. “Also, if you decide to delve down into one of the floors to explore later on, just come to me and I'll sign you in.”

“There's a sign in process?” you ask, quirking an eyebrow.

“Of course. We need to know who's down there at all times.”

“Makes sense.”

"You're free to come back down into this facility to explore some floors, if you'd wish. We just ask that you detail us on any floor maps you find or any other interesting findings you come across, especially if they're related to the history of this facility.”

>Sya'ra takes point. She's done an ample job of it so far, so there's no reason to switch it up.
>Let Ley'ra take point. There should be less of a threat from here on, but you think she's itching to be pointman again.
>Ivan's riding on his afterglow of officially being crowned a Dustkeeper. Give him the glory of leading you back (plus, he has the automatic shotgun).
>Take point yourself. Sure, your memory's been scarred even worse than Sya'ra's after almost being ripped apart by four stalkers, but you want to prove you're the leader of this troop.

Hello, fellow Ordo Malleus Inquisitors. Welcome to our Centennial Ordo meeting.

For those who are new, or didn't attend the last Tricentennial meeting, don't shoot the Xenos witches. they are the Ulthwe and Harlequin representatives. We're hear to figure out the best way of fighting Chaos. we can kill each other later.

First order of business, is the increased Tzeentchian activity in the last few decades. Some of you have interesting ideas on how to fight it. Now if you'll open your folders to page 3 we'll begin...

A cool idea for a postapoc game is that if you find old bullets that either you dont have a gun for or dont work, once you start or find a fire you can melt the lead bullet itself into sling bullets. Lead bullets would provide better armor penetration then stones. Any ideas?
27 posts and 19 images submitted.

>>44692782
Not really

What I've been thinking about are possible gunpowder sources in a postapoc game, areas around volcanic areas would have everything for proper gunpowder, hard to ignite powder would have the sulfur replaced with an equivalent amount of extra charcoal, alternative powders can be made with paper impregnated with saltpetre, as well as proper cordite if explosives can be made.

Weapons would be similar to sharps rifles converted to flint lock to manual cartage firearms and direct blowback guns.

Depending on if the faction/tribe can make or barter for powder would change their weapon types. Slings, bows, and crossbows would be common with such groups.

2. Start slow, do not buy 2000points right away.

5. You might want to get into contact with your local community
6. The space wolf upgrade pack has a furfag helmet.(But you do not need to use that one)
