Trying to make a group of enemies that are very difficult to kill in some ways (pic related with area attacks), and whose weaknesses are partially countered by others (this one counters the relative melee-weakness of a skirmisher devil in the group).

Any comments/tips/thoughts?

There's a metaphor here, you think to yourself as you stare into the bloodied sands that line the pit below you, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Glittering splinters of gold dot the grainy surface, the remains of shattered tiles too thin to ever support any real weight. It was all part of a trap – and not a particularly good one – set by the Intoxicating One to kill you. Or maybe not to kill you, maybe he had just hoped to slow you down, to burden you with injuries or fatigue.

The wealth he created is nothing but a mirage, you muse, unfit to support even the slightest touch of reality. Place too much trust in crude materialism, and end up... dumped into some sand? That's not a very good way to end the metaphor, even you'll admit that.

But then, you're here to kill a demon, not attend a poetry class.

Pressing your back against the wall of the room, you take careful steps along the ragged remains of the floor that still stubbornly resist gravity. You could use Midnight's magic to simply blink across the gap, but that wouldn't really help the others. This way, at least, you're showing solidarity. As the lightest, you have the unenviable job of leading the way.

Once again, you're the leader.

“I would have thought,” Elliot suggests slyly, “That would be obvious.”

“Safely,” Joseph shoots back with a weary sigh, “How do we get down safely?”

You've got to admit, it's a good question. You might have a few moments to get as low down as possible before the constructed world collapses completely, but you have no way of knowing exactly how long. Of course, it'll only start to collapse once the Intoxicating One is dead, so that gives you a degree of control. Even so, you might need a plan for this.

I'm getting paranoid about the CYOA I'm working on. In pic related is 2/8? pairs of characters done so far. If my boxes for future characters are placed vertically beneath each one, would it be annoying to the eyes seeing the same color scheme for the box and fonts over and over again?

Hey /tg I am creating a semi-hard Sci-fi setting for a game that starts in 2 weeks and I've got the rules of the universe in place, human history, a game system picked out, all that shit. Now I'm stumped on aliens. I know a lot of Hard Sci-fi just discounts them entirely but I really want some weird critters and in some cases just saying "let's not have em because how could we think of what they're like" is often lazy. So potential alien brainstorming session or just share pics of weird ass lifeforms of our own world, or cool alien art of both the Hard and Soft Science variety.

Pic related, my first species of sentient life I'm working on is based on this fucking abomination because damn nature is awesome and scary.

A lot of the creatures from numenera make for great aliens, just use them rarely. Make aliens the thing people aren't entirely sure of; most people wont know if they are real or not. But once in a while a city or ship experiences a horrible incident that people can't explain. And between the masses horrible inhuman infiltrators lurk.

Also disingenuous. Are they living in the same reality as us? Do they lack psychic powers? Do they have civilization? Yes?

This means they have
-A means to move and grasp at the same time, otherwise building things becomes nearly impossible
-Some sort of way to store information beyond a generation
-Some sort of social structure, even if it's just "we agreed not to be dicks to each other"

A lot can be done with just those three.

Greetings /tg/, I was thinking about running a game in the cowboy bebop universe after my current game dies horribly (players keep moving to different damn towns.)

Anyway, I was wondering what system might be a good fit for that type of game, they would of course be bounty hunters, and quality gun/martial arts combat rules are a must. I was thinking maybe modding something off the storyteller (WoD) system, they DO have a scifi book I beleive, but I'd like to hear what your guys suggestions are. I feel like there might be a better fit out there which better encapsulates investigation, fast action, dogfighting, chases, and Martial Arts fighting.

Also, do you think Keanu Reeves would have been a good Spike Speigel? Who would your Jet be; Bruce Willis, or Vin Deisal if the former is getting to old? Post Ideal fancast if you wish.

How do you prefer classes, /tg/?

A small amount of classes with a very wide scope? A long list of specializations that give you different and very precise bonuses? Freeform stat dump with archetypes like shadowrun?

Or maybe completely classless?

Given that I'm currently running Shadowrun, this is probably what I'd go with. I don't like systems with classes (my favorites are GURPS and Shadowrun, go figure) in the slightest. They're inevitably overly restricting.

I like Pathfinder's system just fine, with a bunch of base classes, and like a thousand different archetypes that define entirely different designs, functions, and niches for those classes.

Of course, the fact that they're not all mechanically useful is a problem, but I don't mind that part.
