Anybody on here ever make an MTG format, either an actual format, or a variant you can staple onto another format (like how you can mix vanguard or planechase with basically any other format)?
Contemplating making a custom format for fun (to play with friends), and contemplating different ways of doing it.

LAST TIME ON SONG OF SWORDS
Was Zellmurhaja a sarturi chosen?
Is anyone doing those maneuver cards?
Are Australians slaves or convicts?
Song of Swords is a realistic fantasy tabletop RPG that draws inspiration from historical fechtbuchs, weapons and armor. Its combat system is fast and it can be used for both fantasy and historical/mundane settings.
Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

The arena- and that's what it is, really- quiets as the last of the raider-phantoms bleed out of existence on the ground.
The only sounds outside of the slowly dying embers the enemies brought with them are the voices of your two smallest friends, still perched upon the skull adorning your rear.

You clear your throat, interrupting the storytellers behind you.

Nin waves you off unconcernedly.

"Oh, were you listening along? I can be louder. It would be good practice."

Doors creak around you, and you turn to face the mix of villages- Where what appears to be guards and villager and militia are slowly emerging in the false starlight.
You groan.
What kind of cheap encounter is this? You have to fight both sides of some ancient conflict?
Your spear sweeps the first phantom to rush you, a farmer flailing about with a two-tined pitchfork, hurling him to the ground as a crowd thunders towards you.
This is just lazy dungeoning.
"So, what happens next?"
"Well, lots. You know Lyra. It isn't one thing, it's seven. And six of them are monsters."
"I am right here, yes."

Historical as possible, magic exists but it's extremely rare.
It's set in my universe's version of the Warring States age. Which is almost identical to the real one but with different factions.

Thanks for clarifying. I tend to assume the opposite unless it's explicitly stated. Kind of 'you can't unless it says you can'. There's only a few instances I can think of of the top of my head that don't say it explicitly (Darkstalkers & Hellsing) though. Might just be me being silly though.

a friend of mine used to dm 3.5 for a group of friends including me
after we were all busy for two years, he decided to once again make dm for us, but not on vanilla 3.5, but rather on a homebrew improved 3.5
he and i are currently trying to improve 3.5 and basically writing a new system loosely based on 3.5
so heres my question :
What are your guys biggests complaints about 3.5 ? How could those be adressed ? And what things from other tabletop rpgs could be implemented ?
Asking you fa/tg/uys here because we personally only played 3.5 and pathfinder and wanted some other peoples experiences too
