Uhh, guys? Anything you would like to confess before I pick up?

Oh, heavens. I thought the vaunted Ethereals blocked their number when we joined the Greater Good.
Just let it ring to voicemail. Maybe they'll go away?

Full Disclosure i came here from 1d4chan wiki read a few articles decided to see if you could help first time 4Chan user first time TG user.
So ive been playing D&D for a few years it's fun but honestly i don't see many people playing it i see all these other games and instead of looking them up I was wondering if maybe you guys and girls have preferences to games and what drew you to them?
Some other games i'm sorta familiar with
Exalted
Sahdowrun
Pathfinder.
can people suggest some alternatives to D&D
What sort of experience are you looking for?
There are a huge number of RPG's in existence, catering to a vast number of play styles, genres, themes and such. Without narrowing things down, you'll likely just be told about the most common and well known games, but if you can give more guidance as to your interests and what you're looking for we can recommend more specific systems you might enjoy.

A few general tips.
>4Chan
Don't capitalize the c.
>TG user
Boards are never referred to in that way. It's /tg/. Lowercase and with slashes on both sides.
In general, try to stick to proper capitalization and punctuation outside of greentext.
I did say I was new.
that's the problem I really have no clue what i'm looking for
I like the idea of BESM (particularly the mecha rules) but it's idiocy and imbalance drove me to making grammar and spelling mistakes for months now.
I looked into the newest editions of Shadowrun hoping getting into something more familiar would help.
The only familiar thing i recognize is Doc Wagon
I dunno maybe i'm too old for this stuff. got any RPG based around Sudoku (this is a joke)
Is there a good game to play Centaurs or Centaur-like creatures you can recommend? Specially in modern/futuristic settings
d&d is just not working for me.
Also Centaur general I guess.
D&D, Pathfinder, GURPS are the ones that come to mind. There might be centaurs in Shadowrun, but I dunnocentaurs are also my fetish
Guys, I need fun characters and situations to fill a small town in a oneshot adventure I'm doing for this group. Please send help.
>>48361874
The wild hunt is going to be heading through that night, the players have to evac the town, redirect the hunt, or fight it
>>48361929
Nah, I already got my "big" story that will take most of the session to resolve. I just need some filler that makes the town look alive.
Giant rats that want the pesky tavern keepers that have infested the rooms above their cellar homes gone. They keep stealing food and wine, and trying to kill the rats whenever they go upstairs.

So is anybody else getting this? Is anyone else hyped?
I'm always hyped for 15mm anything.
Definitely getting some Spartans for sweet conversions
>>48361818
Yep, it seems like they won't commit the HFB error of bundling everything, which should make things cheaper.
>>48361764
I'd need to see the rules for it.
Would Dark Souls translate well into a CCG? Maybe something similar to MtG, but with a more consistent setting. Characters, creatures and lore could also be borrowed from King's Field or other FromSoftware IPs.
I think you could make a Dark Souls card game, but I think MtG/Hearthstone would be a really bad basis for it. You could do it, but it's really dull and unoriginal and wouldn't really add anything to the story.
What I think would work better? Borrow elements from the old Lord of the Rings CCG. The game was set up as a journey, with your deck containing both good cards to build your fellowship and evil cards to attack the other guys, with the aim of the game being to complete the journey or to kill the other guy before he made it.
In a Souls context, each deck would contain cards to build and enhance your character and to attack and hinder your opponent.
Each turn you would move forward, playing a new location from a side-deck if you were the first to move forward, so staying ahead gives you an advantage, letting you play cards that create beneficial passive effects for you.
You could blend together various different classes of each sort of card, building interesting blends of character and enemy decks, and could even include some interesting Souls specific elements.
Invasions could be a way of almost betting on the result of your opponents action. If you think they're going to fail and die in an upcoming area, send in an invader to reap a reward from their death. If, on the other hand, they seem like they're going to win and get some cool stuff from it, send along a friendly summon to benefit from their victory.
You could also do some odd things with the loss mechanic. In the LotR CCG, which I think is the best source of inspiration, you lose when every member of your fellowship dies, but in Dark Souls death is not the end. The only end of your journey is when you lose motivation and the desire to go on. Some sort of mechanic to represent that, the slow desperation of an Undead as each death drives you more and more hollow, could be interesting.
>>48361648
That's an interesting idea; I think, perhaps, the best way to handle hollowing would be something like how the old card game UFS handled the fact that you would cycle through your deck very easily in a regular match. Every time you cycled through, you shuffled your discard back into your deck and then removed the top ten cards from the game; as hollowing removes your drive, it takes away your ability to succeed, limitng you furthur and furthur with what you can do.
Some cards may reverse it, though, putting the cards back into your deck... though it would be costly, I imagine.
>>48361552
I would suggest taking a look at the new runescape card game they released recently, it's fairly unique and you might get some ideas.
Imagine you can create an avatar of yourself with the following properties.
1) The avatar cannot do anything you cannot do.
2) The avatar cannot do anything you cannot fail to do (e.g. the avatar cannot reflect light).
3) The avatar can do anything you can do not otherwise excluded by rule 2.
If I gave you this as a superpower, how would you break it?
Is the avatar able to be summoned and dispelled at will? Can it carry things into its dispelled state? Can those things come back when it's summoned again? Does it have to be standing next you you?
>>48360849
So what about things we could hypothetically do? I mean I am physically capable of playing the piano, I have all my limbs and the mental capacity to do so but I don't know how at this moment. Could the avatar play the piano?
>>48360883
Good parameter clarifications. It can be dispelled at will. It can be summoned at will but always appears at your current location (i.e. not where you last dispelled it or some location of your choosing) but until you dispel it you can walk it as far as you like, however it can't hear or see since you can't fail to hear or see (i.e. you can't voluntarily turn off your senses). The avatar can carry items, but if dispelled whatever it is carrying is dropped; summoning provides no hammer space in which to store objects.
>>48360910
The avatar can only do what you CAN do- i.e. basically you control it as a duplicate of yourself. It has no skill you don't already have.
My group is currently sperging out about path of war one group says its balanced while the other says its actively ruining the game for others im neutral. What does /TG/ think?
Path of War is not unbalanced.
Well, it is, but only if you're an idiot.
Path of War is innately stronger than default Pathfinder Martials.
But default Pathfinder martial characters suck so much balls they need a serious power boost to actually work.
Path of War is still far, far weaker than casters, but it makes martial characters who are competent, have an array of interesting and varied abilities and are straight up fun to play. I'd never play in a Pathfinder game not using it.
>>48360795
Pathfinder is shit, but Path of War does make it a bit more bearable.
A DSP-only game is the only PF game I would play.
>>48360795
Path of War characters have higher effective in combat utility and increased minimal out of combat utility.
This makes them stronger than most 1st party paizo-only martials, but still significantly weaker than full casters.
Their effective rating can be roughly around hybrid caster classes or there about.
tl;dr better than a fighter or rogue, worse than wizard/cleric/oracle, can be optimized as much as a paladin, inquisitor or other half caster.
I'm sure khorne followers just went batshit insane with anger. But why would you follow a God of plagues (nurgle) or rape (slaanesh) or of screwing everyone (tzeentch)?
>Black Templars
>Protecting civlians
>>48360323
Plagues feel good after a while, and you are surrounded by the biggest fucking bros you could ever imagine. Like seriously, dudes are chill as fuck. He stops diseases from hurting, takes away pain, can make you live forever. Nurgle's pretty spiffy, if smelly and ugly as shit.
Slaanesh because sex, drugs, rock n' roll. And because the pursuit of perfection.
Tzeentch because you don't have a fucking choice. And he let you borrow a book. Those library fees are fucking steep. Seriously though, ambition, dude will hook you up. Probably knock you down later, but still.
>>48360323
So tell me, how much do you know of ancient Mesopotamian agricultural techniques? Because that's about ten times as much as your average follower knows about the beings that they are looking towards.
All they know is the pain they currently feel, the planetary kill-squads that have come for them and their families, the crushing nothingness they hear from the void travelers. They just want something to make it all stop.
People don't consciously turn to chaos, at least not the vast majority of them. They turn because they're desperate and they don't know better. Their lives were completely fucked and the abstract belief in some all-seeing deity who seemingly does fuck-all doesn't cut it for them.
How would you run a SCP Campaign?
>>48360059
Like this >>48343303
>>48360194
Ah, I missed that. Thanks
To keep the thread alive, what content would you have? Would it be divided by housing sites or plot convenience? Would it be inspired by any particular SCP or story, or would it be homebrew?
I'd like to run a game based on a group of generic agents investigating mysterious cities and hunting unatural mostrosities, which may be nessesary as my group still needs to be weaned off their D&D phase.
If I wanted a more ordered game, I'd base it on site 19 during the 6 months where Clef's neck is broken. There are constant outbreaks, half the residents are dead, the O5s are considering relocation, there is a big hole in the roof and Kondraki is still somewhat convinced that Clef is actually Satan. Everyone is surrounded by rather pissed off physical gods(sometimes literally), but at least the O5s granted SCP aid, so Paranoia lethality is fine when we can just glue them back together. The end goal is simply for the site to be okay again.
Hey guys, new to /tg/, but was pointed in this direction.
I'm developing a card game, my first attempt.
At the moment I've got it down to a very simple "core" thats playable and thats it with the bare mechanics I want tested for quality.
Essentially I'm asking;
if I were to post some printables, would ths be a good place to post and get some feedback?
(or hell you could use MTG cards)
>>48359913
excuse the thread, but I saw no generals for this kinda thing.
This is a horrible place to get feedback, but you will post anyway because if you are here, you have no-where else to go.
Don't worry about posting a specific thread; general threads are cancer. Just see our four simultaneous Pathfinder General threads for proof.
>>48359946
Thats essentially it,
I wont be seeing any of my likeminded buddies for at least another three weeks.
I have a local shop but im wondering how inclined theyd be to test play something so small and undeveloped.
Why I hate Magic now:
Standard: Rotation is faster now, and thanks to broken mythics and power creep, prices are higher. It's basically just Yugioh at this point.
Modern: Too many unnecessary bans, and not enough decent countermagic.
Legacy and Vintage: Way too expensive.
EDH and Pauper: Not competitive formats.
>>48359674
I've heard stories of Yugioh vendors literally HIRING THEIVES to steal stuff for them so the store would get discounted product and the victims would purchase product from them to replace the cards that were stolen from them.
Trust me, Yugioh is MUCH worse.
The Solution is Forgery. Prices go low, and everyone can have decks of each format built and ready.
How is standard rotation faster now? It's still two years right?
A warp storm suddenly reveals the planet of cybertron with all of its technological wonders and its inhabitants (transformers) , will this event affect 40k universe ?
>>48359542
They get purged for being Men of Iron.
The Adeptus Mechanicus carefully goes through the wreckage, looking for useful non-heretic archeotech.
>>48359542
Cybertron wins, because if GW tries to do anything, Hasbro's team of lawyers destroys GW.
>>48359542
The Mechanicus collectively wet their robes, and petition for a purging crusade against the xeno machine
After years of grueling warfare, the cybertronian races is eradicated and the mechanicus start cannibalizing the whole planet for tech and information, destroying whatever they can't take
To talk about the ones you play, or want to play.
Feel free to post about anything spaaace too.
Why are space bricks so cool edition.
>>48359091
Sadly this game, like all other games not X-Wing, 40K and Warmahordes, is simply impossible to play near me.
>>48359110
Such a pity, gamers should be willing to play more things, at least isn't such a monolithic block as 10 years ago were only GW games were played. I don't play it but the models are cool as fuck.
>>48359091
those space ships sure do look bad.
Looking forward to receiving my dropfleet commander pledge
>tfw you loved Theros but everyone hated it
>>48358888
I was looking forward to theros, but they fucked it up. They fucked it up bad.
Just like they fucked up every other plane with potential.
>>48358888
It's just going to become Fodder for Phyrexia to force Elspeth to join the Jacetice league.
>>48358888
The problem wasn't with the plane, or even the plot, it was the underpowered mechanics. They fucked it up in similar ways to how they fucked up Kamigawa.
