Imagine an Alien science-fantasy realm that just survived the magipocalypse and is in the process of rebuilding despite every kind of monstrous bullshit going on and the necessity of rediscovering the magical science that made your civilization great. To this add a truckload of races and cultures, each with their mysterious tricks, magics and technobullshit they gelously guard to keep an edge on the others.
Imagine Borroughs fucking Lovercraft fucking LeGuinn, in an opium den while Odalisks dance to hypnotic persian music in the background.
What events are you looking forward to?
What are you expecting to come up against?
Why do you think you are better than the meta?
Does anyone still play in the flesh?
Does anyone still play werebear?

>I wanna hit up gp vegas next summer
>miracles, eldrazi, and dredge
>my deck has a good MU for miracles and combo, but mud aggro is a pain
Also you check out the modern General. The OP has a nice formatting
DDFT Guy here. In a couple weeks i'll be playing in my first local tournament in months. I've mostly been plating on mtgo lately. I have an ok match win record, but I keep playing a lot of reanimator and Ur delver, which are both crappy matchups. However I've only lost a single match against [spolier]------Miracles------[/spoiler]
>>48684472
OP you should use the whole card as your pic, makes the thread more recognizably about magic.
I need your help /tg/. I need pictures.
Pictures of WIZARDS (preferably in robes)
The sillier he better
Dumping what I got for now
Quick question. What's a horror system you think would be good for first time roleplayers? The game will be over Roll20, so Dread is out of the question. We can't exactly do Jenga over the internet.
I'm thinking Nemesis because ORE interests me. However, I've never played it before. So if you have experience with me, I'd like to know how it went and if you think the system is any good and if it's newbie friendly or not.
I'm also thinking of trying to use one or more of the No Security series of adventures since they're system neutral and seem interesting. I figure that might help or narrow things down if any of your are familiar with those at all.
Also any advice for dealing with new players or just with running horror campaigns would be swell.

*experience with it....
Not experience with me. That's weird. Sorry for the typo.
Call of Cthulhu
>>48682635
I will have to second Call of Cthulhu. It's the first TRPG me and my friends ever played because it's pretty easy to understand (and is good fun) for those new to the tabletop roleplaying scene.
Myself and a few friends are starting a LARP. High fantasy inspired by Dark Souls. Does anyone have any advice on things to do/things to avoid? We want it to be fun.
>>48682530
Are you in the US or Europe?
Because that will get you two drastically different experiences.
Also, you should set aside a few hundred (local currency units) at minimum for costumes, props and environment, each.
>>48682530
>pic
Who would fucking do that?
>>48683850
Fringe retards looking for attention. Like the goths we had in the 90s, but now D&D is in instead of literal Satanism.
I was thinking about starting either a Tau army or Imperial Army, I'm broke as fuck and can't do both, nor do I really have the time. Help me out /tg/.
>>48682452
Well, Tau have a bad rep on account of some of their options being very OP.
What Imperials are you considering?
SM are good for a budget, but rather bland. Consider looking in to one of the wacky successor chapters or coming up with a very strong theme for your army.
IG are seemingly universally beloved, but expensive to acquire given their high model count.
What's appealing to you about each faction?
Get the start collecting box when you decide. I wish that shit was around when I started.
>>48682452
i have a tau army and honestly they are super boring. I love my models but game-wise i love muh orks more!
Suicide Squad
Didn't like this movie. But while watching it I noticed that this movie is on big roleplaying game with the party that has almost all the tropes:
you got you barbarian that dumped all his mental stats for strength.
the guy that plays the paladin in a morally questionable party, the CE/CN rogue that guy that is probably the GM's girlfriend which always goes against the party always saying shit like "lel I le crazy".
you got your weeb player.
and the rest I guess are the normals of the party.
Any thought ?

>A party of ants
Cast breaks down like this in terms of /tg/ archetypes:
Flagg - Fighter
Boomerang - Rogue (hur, comic joke)
Katana - Paladin
Harley Quinn - Bard
Killer Croc - Barbarian
Deadshot - Ranger
El Dioblo - Sorcerer
Slipknot - that dude that fucked off after the first session (replaced with Katana)
>>48682126
So...would that make the Joker a DMPC?
Looking for some art to put into my game for various cities, not looking for anything specific jut your favorite shit.

>playing pendulums
you are part of what has killed the game, don't play or buy pendulums
>>48685435
How did Pendulums kill the game? It's the same thing people said about Xyzs and Synchros.
If you talk about D&D on the internet, you aren't a part of D&D 5e's demographic. 5e is for people that actually play the game, nerds.
Get out of here with your silly theories and 'wizards are too powerful' nonsense. It's never like that in real play and real play trumps theory.
It's time for the players to take back D&D from the talk-about-it-on-the-internet nerds!
>>48681723
Good luck with that.
Yeah because hard evidence in videos and podcasts are better than anecdotal evidence. (???)
I want to disagree with him, but in this instance he's absolutely right. Online discussions about D&D are shit and cancer. People miss or ignore the obvious and get super autistic about things that do not matter.
I understand that, if players are going to be using magic, there have to be clear rules about what they can and cannot do. But what is with this recent trend of obsessively, carefully laying out every detail of the magic, stripping it of all mystery and excitement, even when doing so ISN'T mechanically necessary?
I know Sanderson does it in his books, and if that's what you go for, fine, but even he recognizes a place for fantasy that doesn't do it. But on /tg/ lately there's this bizarre hate-boner for any magic the player (or, in the case of fiction, reader/viewer) doesn't fully understand.
Magic wasn't fully explained in Lord of the Rings, Conan, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, or most other classics. And yet Middle Earth, Hyboria, and Nehwon are places many of us can vividly imagine.
>>48681468
All of those settings suck though.
>>48681747
Why don't you list some settings you think are good instead of indiscriminately shitting on what other people like?
>>48681468
OP you shouldn't take the opinions of the extreme minority of /tg/ autists as representative of prevalent thought in tabletop or fantasy fandoms.
>>48681787
I need help, niggas. I ended up becoming the DM of my town's first game of D&D game because reasons
The problem is, I've never played the game. I come here to ask you: what is the most balanced version of D&D, or the most beginner-friendly?
Any other tips are welcome.

Did you seriously make a new thread just because you misspelled "Bonfire"?
>In this setting, all contracts are sealed with magic
>If you knowingly break a contract, the magic activates and puts a mark on your face
>All will know you for an honorless dog
>The state still enforces basic law, but honor rules supreme
>This allows the kingdom to nearly approximate ideal anarcho-capitalism
>Prosperity has filled the land as people are able to succeed on their own merit
>Paladins are the judges of contracts
>Should someone abuse a contract, the victim may call for a Paladin
>The Paladin will evaluate the contract, the circumstances and intent, and dispense justice
>If justice requires the annulment of the contract, seppuku is offered
>If seppuku is denied, the Paladin either kills them or brands them honorless as needed
>Thus, prosperity continues
>Your challenge is to play a Paladin who is marked as honorless
>And not for a trivial contract, but a serious fuck-up
Nah OP, sounds boring. Lets play pirates instead!
That sounds fucking boring op.
Boring. Let's play mutants and Masterminds instead.
You are the BBEG of your last campaign and those pesky PCs are coming to ruin your plans, how will you stop them?
