Hey /tg/ I'm playing 2e and I want to make a wizard. An old wizard who burned down his tower and killed all of his apprentices because he thought they were idiots.
I want to make some old man long beard robe and wizard hat. What school should I focus on and what kind of spells would old wizards like that use? I just want to make some stereotypical Old Wizard with a staff.
If you're starting at any level lower than say, 5, this concept doesn't really work.
Otherwise, go for mind control and illusion, with a few big flash evocations for when shit gets real.
Yeah the party is around 5 right now. We're playing with a bunch of new players so I wanted to mess around with different types of characters. I'm just not sure on what kind of spells a wizard like that would go for since I'm used to playing more physical oriented classes.
There is another mage in our party who decided to focus on necromancy though. I do plan on antagonizing her a little, but are there any specific things I can pick at?
>>48651526
Go for subtle "hermetic" effects like mind control and illusion spells, with a few obvious things like Fly and Fireball thrown in.
I want to make an Imperial Guard army similar to SOG involved in the CIA operations during the cold war and was wondering what the closest thing to it is in the 40k lore
>>48650616
Technically the Militarum Tempestus when speaking on IG terms, but have you tried simply making your own regiment?
>>48650791
thats my plan, but I was hoping to find some inspiration in the established lore as well
The Militarum Tempestus are guard special forces and have a variety of hardcore examples of service in their codex. The short version being they do the riskiest things without hesitation and normally die in the process.
As far as an army intended to undertake very small covert strikes using unusual equipment and with great skill... you're actually describing Deathwatch. Look at their new codex sometime.
Just barely got back into MtG after about six years. I threw together a Mono Thallid deck, and have been doing rather well with an efficient, cheap(both mana-wise and cost) deck that overruns all but the fastest Red decks. So far I can't find a reason why it didn't stay popular enough to stay relevant. Can anyone explain?
>>48650014
I dunno man.
Modern Masters 2015 had quite a few saproling generators.
What are you looking for exactly?
>>48650081
Eh, guess I'm just a little bummed that I can't use my deck in an official FNM tourney at the LGS.
>>48650305
Would you consider making a saproling themed EDH deck?
> Spend weeks writing up a PF campaign tailored specifically to friend's tastes
> Spend days making sure everyone has their sheets in order and are ready to go
> Spend hours waiting for them to show up only to get a text saying that they don't want to play PF anymore, and all sat at home playing Overwatch instead.
Seriously, what is someone supposed to do in a situation like this?
Also, DM horror stories.
>>48649350
>Seriously, what is someone supposed to do in a situation like this?
Learn that you never, ever, ever tailor games to a player's tastes.
Also, online games.
>>48649350
>and all sat at home playing Overwatch instead
My friends have done NOTHING but play this stupid fucking game since it launched.
They're trying to get into it competitively now or some bullshit. We haven't had a session since it launched, they're too 'busy'.
I didn't even think it was that bad, until it left beta and subsequently started eating my group's time and money. Why the hell would you ever buy a loot crate?
>>48649350
This is one of my fears
Anyone on here played this before? Sounds like an interesting idea, and I'm considering it, but wanted to know if anyone has played it and whether they would recommend it before buying.
I love the XCOM boardgame. The hybrid gameplay with the app creates a really unique co-op experience as well as being practically useful, taking out a lot of the fiddly management of the board state co-op games can suffer from.
Some people hate it because they object to any and all board games which aren't playable without an app, but IMO it's kinda closed minded. Just using an app because you can is lazy design that shouldn't be supported, but XCOM does things with the app that just wouldn't otherwise be feasible to give the opposition in a co-op game a lot more depth than you'd otherwise be able to have.
>>48649142
Alright. I thought that sounded cool, but wasn't sure. That said, I'm kind of in bumfuck nowhere NH, so does the app require internet? Because it's shit where I live, in that it's inconsistent as fuck, and one stray tree branch can take out the entire street's power.
>>48649195
You need internet to download it, but it doesn't require a connection to run.
What the best pic you've ever played whether it's rp or straight up being op.

Caldax Godelyl
>Evil Drow Rogue in a 4e game
Made his specifically to fuck over the game. See, I started the game with an elf, but the DM had been running the game for a few months already when I joined but didn't give much oversight in character creation. See, for a few sessions there was no issue but then I mention using the Elf's racial ability that allows rerolls and he flips shit about Elves/Eladrin not existing in his world because they fucked off into their own dimensions or some shit. So I willingly let my character die in that session on the agreement that I get to play a Drow.
>He should have known better
Here is his effective rap sheet
>Wanted for the murder of 9 children (in his defense they are acolytes of Asmodeus), 2 counts of trespassing on temple grounds, two counts of theft of temple property, murder of a town guard captain, aiding and abetting the dragonborn empire's heir in escaping lawful authority, 4 counts of piracy, 2 counts of banditry, 2 counts of arson, kidnapping. Wanted for questioning in many, many more cases.
All of this was within a mere 3 levels of play, 5 to 8. He died on a beach to a grell, but was a blast to play!
Best PC I ever MADE was a young girl whom I rolled a 4 for on the stats that I decided to plop into Constitution.
>Was always sickly
>Diagnosed with a terminal disease that would be quite painful at a young age
>Church could do nothing for it
>Didn't have the stamina to go on adventures
>Didn't have the money or friendship to get other people to find a cure
>Her only friend growing up was the local priest
>She learned all she could from him seeking answers
>Never found a cure, but managed to at least live long enough that she inherited the church from the pastor
>Turned the front lawn into a beautiful Eden
>Children would constantly come and "sneak" in to visit her and the garden
>Townspeople were generally nice to her, but she didn't have a lot of friends as people who knew kept their distance
>Only thing she cared about was protecting her gardenToo bad I never got to actually play her cause the DM thought I was a tranny for wanting to play a female character and chased me out.

Your dm is a prick
Can anyone lead me to anything relating the Filthy Frank ttg, I've spent an abundance of time on google, and have not found anything.
There was a Filthy Frank ttg?
There's like three different games.
And they're all incomplete but that's okay because
>Quality in a franku game
I don't think they were ever finished; it was just a few PDFs on a /tg/ thread once a ball got rolling.
a Papa Franku system still sounds fun though.
What is your opinion on female bards /tg/?
They're a good place to deposit semen.
Would bang/10
I want to run a female bard/monk. I don't care if it's impractical.
So I finally finished this series (I know slowpoke). But what system would you run a game like this with? I was thinking Monsters and Childish Things (minus the monsters) or Nemesis (both ORE games).
nWoD Innocents
>>48647123
Does that mean just core that is mortals or is there a different book of Innocents? If the later, what differentiates Innocents vs mortals?
GURPS Lite.

Would you waifu/husbando someone with the Hive Corruption? If you had a baby with them, what would the kids look like?

Just make sure you have couple casts of Regeneration ready, in case things get kinky.
>Character almost dies
>Gets tortured by blood mage he's been hunting
>Comes out of it angry as fuck
>DM suggested I roll Shadow Dodge
My character is totally becoming a discount Reaper from Overwatch.

How Slaaneshi can one get, /tg/?
>>48646476
Florida Man.
>>48646476
Hedonism Bot is my hero. If I ever made a Slaaneshi warband, I'd have to incorporate him somehow.
>>48646580
Get the Kidrobot one and use it was a Soul Grinder.
Not like non-Khorne non-Tzeentch Soul Grinders are ever not heavily modified or proxies anyway.
If she wanted immortality so bad, why didn't she just become a vampire? Vampirism seems like it would be a lot easier to deal with than four fucking demon pacts.
>Vampirism seems like it would be a lot easier to deal with
Perhaps, but the immortality acquired through it isn't all that reliable.

Not anywhere near as rad, though.
How would you describe an intergalactic star cruiser to a person(not necessarily the same species as you) who lives in a society at the approximate development and cultural level as Europe's Renaissance period?
>>48645649
Could you... rephrase that?
>>48645649
First explain that stars are suns, and the heliocentric model of solar systems. From there explain galaxies, possibly using the 'island universes' term that was used when they were first suspected to be huge clusters of stars.
After that a boat analogy should work fine - unless there are crazy sci-fi physics involved, which there probably are, but I'd need specifics to go on.
>>48645705
>have an intergalactic star cruiser
>need to describe it to a person who is not necessarily the same species as me
>the person lives in a society that is at the approximate development and cultural level as Europe's Renaissance period
>wat do?
>make a shortsword
>name it "Falchion"
What would possess a blacksmith to do such a thing?
Same reason why there's a missile called Rapier and an ICBM called Trident.
If I had a dagger I'd call it Dirk. It would be a sentient weapon with the personality of an aging Montanan actor who got a lot of pussy.
>>48645660
You'd call it Dirk even if it was a kris?
Japanese people have no sense of right and wrong.
