What fucking dice should I use? Tired of Chessex fucking over my characters. I really wanna get some of those fancy Artisan Dice but I don't know if stone would be weighted properly.
I like gamescience dice, but I don't honestly know that it makes that big of a difference as far as randomness goes.
I would avoid stone/metal dice though. They're heavy and will fuck up peoples tables.
Also Q-Workshop dice and other 'busy' dice will make everyone at the table hate you.

I thought game science doesn't sell dice with painted numbers? It's impossible to read them without it.

Forgive me Senpai
What do you guys think of this game and its miniatures? How hard do you guys think it will be to find other people who play it?In the GTA specifically
A pro and con is that they have cheap models. A "mega army" costs £100, or $171CAD and has about 140 miniatures in it as opposed to GW where 10 space marines can go for $50CAD. I feel like this would mean the models are low quality but after checking them out I think they look fine.
Thoughts?
I think the rules are pretty good. It's like WFB without a lot of the bullshit (I never knew how much I hated static combat resolution until I played KoW and didn't have to stand there counting ranks, flank/rear bonuses, challenges, etc. on both hands.) Don't have any of the models, but that's the beauty. I have a lot of old GW models laying about since I'm salty about AoS, and I can put them right into play in KoW.
>>49413569
its not always the case, but yeah generally quality is lower. They're sometimes smaller too, the Mantic "big guys" like say ogres aren't as big as the GW versions.
But if you're into things mainly for the game aspect that's not an issue.

This triggers one of the players in my group really hard. Guy's always making musclegirl characters whenever he doesn't have a better concept in mind.

hey friend if she wants a strong character that looks like a dainty little butterfly why not let them? if it makes them happy and they are not being a meta buddy about it (tricking people into thinking she is a weakling) then why not?

Blue/black, no question. Maybe red too, depends on how pink mohawky he's feeling at the time.
Green-black, probably. She just wants herself and her family to live quietly and in comfortable isolation.

So what was the purpose for each Primarch?
Some are obvious, Like Magnusand Russ, but what about the Primarchs with more obscure purposes like Sanguinius and the Khan?
>>49465950
Sanguinius, from a writing perspective, was created solely so he could be slain by Horus in the giant metaphor for the Fall of Lucifer and the Passion of the Christ that was the Horus Heresy. As he was perfect, only he could truly save humanity (by giving the Emperor enough time to rally).
The Khan is to represent the wild spirit of some warrior cultures, answering only to their own personal code of honor. The Khan embodies the fundamentally different mindset of the Eastern Cultures (primarily Mongolia and China) and their approach to warfare compared to the Western ones that all the other Primarchs show. (This is a gross oversimplification, but largely correct).
>>49465950
>Sanguinus
> obscure
Wut?
>>49466029
Obscure purposes, not obscure Primarchs.
That'd only fit for Alpharius and maybe Mortarion, if anything.

Just curious, why are there no Standard threads on /tg/? Do people really hate standard that much? And if so... why?
>>49455549
There are always standard threads on /tg/. just not currently.
>>49455549
There is standard threads every now and then. They usually show up more around when a new set is released or game day or some standard event.
Right now it's so close to Kaladesh and rotation that there's not much point to play standard or talk about it.
/tg/, what do you think about dragons?
I think that one looks way to old to be hanging out with school girls
>>49440169
I like them well enough when they're used sparingly and look cool.
But even the concept of "used sparingly" is ironically overdone. Nowadays every other work of fantasy involving dragons gushes over how rare and magical they are and how their reappearance is a portent for things to come.
Frankly, I like Asian dragons. They work really well as spiritual entities and I find that more interesting than a vicious monster sitting on a horde of treasure. Even if that monster has superhuman intelligence and charisma.

this is a pretty good way of saying it. Dragons are neat and all but they still feel generic whenever they come up.

We left off declaring our solidarity. If the thread dies we make another.
We also were discussing "quest flow".
You guys mentioned AI yesterday. The 40k boardgame "Assassinorum: Execution Force" uses the board itself as well as die rolls to determine how the chaos cultists move around the board.
The enemies move around the board going straight down their line of sight. When the enemy encounters a junction between hallways etc. they roll a die - the way the enemy moves is noted on the board itself. If a PC ends up in the line of sight after the change in "patrol" the enemy attacks the PC.
My homebrew spin on this is instead of placing minis, I place placeholders and move them as if they are cultist. These move the same as normal but if a PC ends up in the line of sight a roll is done to determine what enemy (if any) is encountered. Basically a way to randomize enemy types and amounts.
In the pic related you can see the small red arrows on the board they reflect the possible patrol routes.
>>49402977
This is a cool area for us to investigate - nice! Any other finds along this line?
>>49402977
One could whip up a neat space hulk or aliens game - create a random 'dungeon' generator/chart to build your gameboard; have an enemy chart for numbers/types of foes; either build your board as you go, randomly determining encounters; or, build the board all at once and place/move enemy counters randomly as you play through. (with patrol paths and spawn points marked)
I guess it could be two games: one game to build the game, the other game to actually play what you've built.
Old Talisman did this iirc?
