What system is best for Prince Valiant style knightly adventures?

The Prince Valiant RPG. Duh.

I've heard of that, but isn't it quite old?

Is it any good?

I haven't read it very closely, but it seems to be based around telling a cooperative story, with occasional coin-throwing (d2 dice pool) to determine success or failure.

There are other options, such as Pendragon.

Welcome to the world of heroes.

>ask away. Just finished a 5 month campaign using the system.

So how does it work for Gundam?

I want to pick up the system for a oneshot to a group of beginner friends who are really into superhero stuff and thought of a setup like so for the first session
>give each a character sheet with some decent street-level archetypes (brawler impervious to bullets, utility belt martial, guy capable of manipulating shadows, some small-time sorcerer)
>ask each of them to flesh out their powers; who is the guy, for instance, playing the brawler? A highly successful underground ring boxer? Just a guy who moves furniture? Is the shadow-guy a former thief-turned-hero or an eccentric guy who owns a horror circus?)
>pick out one guy who has a significant other or just a loved one in the backstory
>start off with a note on a plate of cookies saying "I went to X with Sharon, see you soon, xoxo"
>put on a pre-recorded radio broadcast
>the place X is currently raided by a villain
>he calls his local superfriends on phone
>there goes the introduction

Never ran supers before, but I want to get into it. Possibilities seem endless.

Doing a gundam style game is hard when building, but easy to play.

>first
Decide how powerful you want the mecha to be because the mecha and pilots will have 2 seperate powerlevels. The ideal is to have the mecha be PL10 and the Pilot be PL6.
>second
The mechanics of fighting are very different. Every modifier for the mecha is based on the pilots skill stats. this means the mecha can't do anything by itself.
>third
Things like fatigue and exhaustion are replaced by stress. the more stressed the mecha is the less it functions well. If you stress it once thats a -2 to all future checks if you stress it again its a -5 to all future checks. stress can only be removed with downtime. Damage is similiar, but in the case of damage if the mecha is hit with a third degree it suffers a -5 to all future checks until the end of combat. 4 degrees will shut it down completely.
>fourth
Certain powers are gone and not allowed to be used such as immortality, teleport, super speed, and healing. Immunity can still be used, but only for a single descriptor. it represents a mecha's type. Mind control is no-longer a will resisted power and is treated like hacking. the effects are the same. Advantages are different too. The assesment advantage is now a technology check and yields information on the opposed mecha. DC10 you see its defense, DC15 you see defense and type, DC20 you see it's defense, type, and camera mount, DC25 you see defense, type, camera mount, and vunerlable spot. To represent vunerable spots being spotted the spotter gets a +5 to damage bonus and if the tell a friend the friend gets +2 damage bonus.
>fifth
Size of the mecha effects it movement speed. the size rank dictates the speed they move. so a size rank 4 mecha moves at speed 4. Other movement options such as flight, swimming, and leaping are used as normal from the core rulebook.

Any special functions the mecha has are treated as a technological version from the rulebook.

So I found this http://pokeumans.deviantart.com/ and it's the most un-HFY thing I've ever read. It claims humanity learned how to use tech from the infinitely superior pokemon, and it just gets dumber from there, especially the godmode sue hero. I normally like pokemon, but this is unbearable. It makes Superior Elf shit look tolerable. What do?

If you're okay with a very crunchy game with d20 based combat, Pokemon Tabletop United (PTU for short) might work for you.
It and its supplements have extensive rules for trainers directly involved in combat, working from scifi to fantasy settings.
Also it is mechanicaly very close to the video games, basicly just reducing and simplifying math to 3.PF levels. Ig you've done any competetive pokemon you'll be very familiar with what strategies work or not.
Its a solid game but needs a fuckton of GM prepwork to run smoothly.
>>
>>50527035
I'd use Strike!

It's tactical system is very gamey, which gels well with the pokemon aesthetic imo. There's also an optional elemental RPS system in place, and it's refluff-friendly (more like fluff required...-y).

It's very light on stats however, so if you want to go for that aspect as well, it's a lot less fitting.

>wtf is kingdom death
Kingdom Death is a body horror board game where you hunt monsters to craft gear and grow your settlement. The core game is getting a reprint. It is on kickstarter now. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster-15/description

>how does shipping work
Game will ship out in waves, starting in 2017, and ending in 2020. Each wave will have its own pledge manager, and you will pay shipping for it once they are ready to ship that wave.

>how do addons work
Just increase the amount you are pledging by the cost of the add on. For example, if you are backing at the $50 level, and would like the First Hero expansion ($35), you would leave your pledge LEVEL the same, but change the pledge AMOUNT to $85.

>do I need both the core game and the update pack?
The Kickstarter is to fund a new edition of the game. If you get the game through the Kickstarter, it will have the update pack already included. If you already own the core game, you need to by the update pack to make everything compatible.

>do I need the update pack to use new expansions?
We don't know yet, but that may be the case. Either way, there are no levels you can back at that don't include either the update pack, or the updated core game, so any base pledge you get will be compatible with the new expansions either way.

>what is the gamblers chest
A box that is basically a grab-bag of minis and variant rules. Adds classes and a new mechanic tied to a 5th player character. There is one additional major mechanic it adds that we haven't seen yet. The contents of the box are already decided, Poots is just revealing a random item from it each day. The rolls are not tied to the amount of money raised in any way.

in 40K all the ships are holy because most of them are centuries if not millennia old. and new ships are rare and expensive.

and the larger or more complicated the machine the more reverence the tech-priests hold for it

Taking Daemonic Possession on Rhinos is retarded, especially if you aren't going full retard and putting Havoc Launchers on them. Daemonic Possession fails to keep you moving 16.67% of the time, and eats one of your 30 point Possessed 16.67% of the time. Extra Armor always keeps your battle wagon rolling forwards, never eats your dudes, and is cheaper to boot.

Dozer Blades are an unnecessary luxury. Your dudes are going to be hopping out turn 1 most of the time anyways.

Try to work in some Sorcerers. They add extra punch to the Cultists squads, and Shrouding or Invisibility turns Cultists from expendable bullet catchers into really hard to kill expendable bullet catchers.

>>50526002
It's a 2000 point list containing the two best FMC's in the game. Of course it's viable. Is this a meme?

>>50525693
Drop both Exalted's down to regular Sorcerers. Exalted is only worth it if you're building a melee beatstick to accompany some Spawn or flying Scarab Occult. The Silver Tower blast isn't worth 60 points.

Get the Rubrics a Rhino. Keeps them alive a little longer, might help them get into a better position.

Deep striking the Terminators is an awful idea. You don't have enough boots on the ground as is, you can't afford to keep half your infantry in reserves. Especially not when you have no way to reroll the reserves roll or mitigate scatter. Heavy Warpflamer isn't worth it. Grab the Hellfyre for hunting tanks.

You need more bodies. Tzaangor Warherd works, or ally in some daemons, or ally in some other CSM, or ally in some Renegades and Heretics.

What a way to start off with a false premise. It has flaws, but acknowledging them doesn't mean you hate it. And sometimes as much as you'd like to play a good old dust 514 inspired version of Rogue Trader, people just aren't as into it as you are, so you make a compromise.

Also, please be careful with how degenerate your OP's are.

To be honest this idea I have thrown around for quite sometime where my own D&D class and stat system that would involve class changes and unique stats.

I actually felt like sitting down and writing a story today so I would like to focus on that. I would also like to say I pretty much take the premise of several games and merge the ideas together in hopes of making (somewhat) intriguing idea, I took inspiration from Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy VII, Path of Exile, Maple Story, League of Legends, Final fantasy legend2 (Saga2 godess of destiny)

I originally wrote this story about 3 years ago when I was under some turmoil, unfortunately I lost the original copy so i tried to rewrite it the best I could while adding some things and I would like to know what you guys think of it and how I could improve my story writing.

In a land far away lies a world called Terra. After many wars the several braches of civilizations unionized and formed the mightiest civilization it ever known Retogar. Under the leadership of its king, was rich in its technology advances however; it kept a majority of its citizens starved, undereducated and in tight housing. As the king saw fit, they abandoned its people to the wasteland much of Terra was inhabitable due to the many previous wars of destruction and therefore there was nothing Retogar wanted more than the "Promised land," a place undiscovered that still naturally flourished with life.
As several other civilizations were shunned in the union of Retogar and they formed a group known as the Renegades and made their own home Bassys (pronounced Base-sis). As one of the last natural standing civilizations they are the strongest opposing civilization next to Retogar. Many of its inhabits are farmers, miners and sailors. However the civilization hides a secret terrorist group that infiltrates Retogar and shuts down its power plants that sucks away at the life of Terra.
A neutral city that rivals the size of Retogar is Nexus. It has a neutral standing with Retogar and rivals their military techological power with its golem protectors. Nexus is a sea side port town, residing many homeless, drunks, criminals, and fishermen. Oddly enough, it also resides the smartest people! Having the largest magic school with mechanical golem creations as protectors, unfortunately are easily out smarted by criminals. Adventures often get killed seeking glory in this dark civilization.
The last faction of people is a neutral group mostly humans who either ran away or were kicked from Retogar known as Freelancers. They are often the most feared of people and aren't welcome in many other civilizations other then Nexus but due to their survival skills their powers are unmatched.
>>
Fellelica is a city unknown to humans, it resides highly magical beings known by few as Mutants or Espers. It's a civilization that doesn't allow its people to leave knowning that Retogar wants to dominate and control the vast magical power it provides. It is the Promised land golden city.
