How do you like your guards, /tg/ (in terms of equipment, discipline, etc)?
>>50504350
Wait. I know you...
They're commoners with armor and weapons, and trained to use them. Quality of said skill varies by size of town/wealth of employer
>>50504712
You must be making a mistake...
Post 14th century swords were cheap enough to be afforded by every soldier and indeed they were the most popular sidearm while one handed axes faded into obscurity.
You know why? Because axes are dog shit weapons.
>>50500071
I kinda agree, but axes are still useful. A long enough haft makes it a good pole weapon, and axes have more utility and robustness due to the more obtuse grind of the edge. The momentum and slowness of the swing can also be used to advantage.
Not a good dueling weapon, sure, but better on the battlefield than something like a dagger. Paired with a shield and with a proper axe built solely for war, they're not bad.
Axe thread?
>>50500109
>dagger
>bad on battlefield
not at all people used it when they grappled or to finish someone off
Tell me why Malcador the Sigilite was so powerful and why he is seemingly unknown or largely ignored by the Imperium. Seems to me like he gets very little credit for anything. =/
>>50497435
Because he was just a man in an age of gene-forged demigods and the Emperor. He preformed few, if any heroic feats and his most noteworthy achievement was accomplished at a time when nobody would of been remembered.
He was a vital man, but still just a man
>>50497477
>when nobody would of been remembered.
That alone makes him all the more worthy of adoration. His death wasn't slow and in fact brutal and painful and he died willingly without being asked or told. The last few moments he was alive was spent in pure insanity.
He's a fucking hero m8.
>>50497435
Extremely powerful psyker, apparantly second only to the emperor.
>>50497504
>Implying malcador isn't still on the throne, obeying his emperor's final command, whilst the emperor walked into the warp rift before he died from the chaos corruption/wound.
Give me your favourite spacecraft names, original or otherwise.

Every single ship name from the Culture series, gems include: "No More Mr Nice Guy", "Just Read The Instructions", "Of Course I Still Love You", and "What Are The Civilian Applications?"
>>50495956
I have pages of ship names that I'll never use. Beside the obvious names like "Leisurely Xenocide" and "If You Can Read This We're Ramming" I've always been a fan of adjective naming.
For example, if you have an Adamant-class heavy cruiser, the following ships would be named as such;
>Admirable
>Acute
>Advantage
>Aggressor
>Alacrity
>Antagonist
And so on and so forth. No idea what to do when I run out of letters or words. I'll probably have to resort to naming ships after people or something.

>>What rpg has the best skill /task resolution system?
OD&D.
>>what makes it the best?
It has no skills.
>>how does it work?
If your class is considered to have an ability to do something, you can roll under your related attribute to succeed at doing it.
>>50495688
Although I'm not a fan of the system, GURPS has a pretty good skill system. It uses 3d6 for its resolution mechanic, so characters tend to perform consistently, and it scales its skills both by basing them on stats, and by grading them by difficulty (which determines how expensive they are to buy / improve).
>>50495688
>>What rpg has the best skill /task resolution system?
d100/BRP
>>what makes it the best?
Skills can be as broad or narrow as desired and are easily assigned a base value to improve over time without level and class gates. There are simple systems to scale difficulty based on situation or work as an individual or team.
>>how does it work?
If you have the ability to do something you have an easy to comprehend competence number to target, and if you are not you can either do it at a base value or not do it at all. With the way it scales it's much easier to get an appropriate difficulty and the granulation means characters slowly improve session to session in a meaningful way.
I would like a traditional /tg/-style portrait thread.
Post characters who could conceivably be nobles or royals based on the way they dress, but are *not* actually Western in fashion.
Weeaboo or non-weeaboo, your choice.
Maybe not "noble", but here's an elder.
excellent d&d videogame, *WITH* dm tools so you can run a campaign with it, *and* it's free now?
https://www.gog.com/game/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition
for all my /tg/ buddies that don't have it already, free /tg/ vidya seemed worth mentioning, particularly since someone suggested setting up a /tg/ NwN server yesterday for those of us who don't have a currently ongoing campaign.
>>50494585
Bumping. Really good game. Half-orc barbarian.
>>50494585
Damn, another RPG added to the pile I'm working through right now.
i can deal with bad graphics and text only, thats not an issue
but I just can't play a game wherein the UI and text is literally for ants.
any way to get this UI to scale for a 1440p screen?
Is your BBEG a real villain?
Have they ever caught a good guy, like a real superhero?
Have they ever tried a disguise?
You know, I actually do enjoy these threads. Yeah, they're a shitty meme... but they're still a fairly new shitty meme that hasn't lost the novelty yet.
Uhh.. nuhuh.
A real villain? I still cant decide.
Does tearing a major asshole in the world to a dream world and becoming a God of Humanity and granting said humanity gift of magic (without this ashhole in the future, there would be no wizards and magic in the past) does count as an evil deed? Provided for creating said asshole he sacrificed a LOT of wizards. Genocide whole magical civilization in fact.
I'm the Forever DM and an off-handed comment has me wanting to run a one shot where all the players are prostitutes.
>>50492903
I uh, accidentally did this?
Decided to run a one-shot for my players as an intro to the campaign with throw-away characters. They decided to play a gang of male prositute brothers who run a firm called "Bronzebeard Bronzebeard Bronzebeard & Bronzebeard."
They went shopping for thongs.
So 5e I guess.
>>50493004
Please tell me there is more to this story. What class\background did they take? I''m assuming it was all-dwarf?
No one wants to play as your mom op.
ITT we say the turning point where everything went wrong in one greentext.

10/10 experience, would have another round of late night black hole insanity again.
Why is 2E art so superior to other editions' art?
That left arm is so uncomfortable to look at
Better budget than previous editions.
Digital art allows for a lot of shortcuts (cloning, etc.) that let mediocre artists compete with people who have a deeper technical knowledge, but it's cheaper to hire a 20-something with a tablet than to hire someone who paints by hand.
>>50487214
Good covers. That's about it.
Could humanity survive in a world full of monsters, demons and witches? Seen realistically and without plot armor
>>50485208
Yes, probably. As a species we're pretty adaptive and resourceful. We probably wouldn't be the star of the show, but we probably would be around.
>>50485208
Depends on how strong those entities are, how much they can fuck with the laws of physics - that is, how bad they can fuck up the principles behind human technology - and so on. Obviously. he question can't be given any universally true answer.
Chitin armor < modern rifles.
Range of teeth < range of modern rifles.
Would monsters and demons be able to survive in a world full of humans?
Witches are a different matter.

Oops. I meant Coil of the Wyrm 5
>>50479317
Coil of the Wyrm 5 is much better.
Dying On Your Feet means not going into Torpor until combat is over.
Eternal Frenzy means not going into Torpor until Frenzy is over, and that Frenzy is, well... says it right there on the tin.
In Eternal Frenzy you also get to add Blood Potency to attacks, Defense, Speed, and Health.
Lets play the character art story game again.

>We are sorry to be the bearers of such tremendously sad news, but our father passed away peacefully at 10:15 yesterday morning. This follows twelve years of an illness that he kept secret to all but those closest to him. We appreciate this news may be a shock to many.
>He died as he lived - with colossal bravery, humour, and dignity - and held by those that loved him. He was working on the final three Lone Wolf books until Monday evening. His thoughts were with his work and thusly his fans until the last possible moments. His work clearly meant a lot to his fans, and your loyalty meant everything to him.
>It is with enormous honour and great responsibility that these notes for the final three books of the saga, and the legacy of his incredible universe, are passed to us to complete.

Goodnight, sweet prince. I will miss you, even if I didn't find Lone Wolf that good as others do.

Fuck you, anon. Just fuck you.
I loved the Lone Wolf gamebooks. It was some of the earliest fantasy I ever read and what I grew up with. Magnamund is an amazing fantasy world. He will be missed. RIP Joe Dever.
