Hey, I got the thread subject right, and I got the pastebin in. I needed to fuck up somewhere, right?
Posting this again, because I put it in kinda late in the thread

Depends on the kind of game you're trying to run.
What is that, OP?

It's a Fantasy game, nothing too revolutionary.
The PCs are mercenaries travelling a post-apoc land. But the game doen't tae itself too serious

Tomorrow I'm going to build my first EDH Deck. I want it to focus on Deathtouch and Infect. As well as wanting it to be (Blue,Black,Green) for the colors. And was also hoping that since i have little EDH Deck building experience that you guys could suggest some cards?

>deathtouch
Why
>Infect
Do you want to be that guy
>Sultai
Good color choice, I'd suggest you just build around Damia, stone sage
See if you can find a copy of the Commander 2016 Atraxa deck. That deck should give you a solid baseline, and it includes BUG as well as W. Her Proliferate ability works well with an Infect theme - just be ready to be hated out by everyone at the table, since Infect isn't usually looked at kindly.
Mathematically speaking, who benefits more from a +2 bump to AC, the guy at 18 AC or the guy at 22 AC?
>>50521223
Depends mostly on the level, but in general, AC has diminishing returns, because once you hit (enemy attack bonus + 20), you're untouchable. 22 would hit that cap sooner than 18.
18, because at 18 he can still be hit with a roll with no modifier but 22 can't be hit without a modifier
>>50521237
>>50521251
Enemies always have at least +3, typically +6, sometimes +10
The future value of the +2 shouldn't be considered, just this jump in particular.
A GM cannot cheat. The person running the game is not bound by the rules in the same way as the people playing the game. Their only goal is to create an enjoyable, compelling experience for the people present, and any action they take is legitimate as long as it fulfils that goal.
The GM can fudge dice. The GM can lie. The GM can change his plans, discard his notes and run with an idea because it seems interesting. The GM can break the rules because the GM makes the rules. But again, all of this should be in service of the game being enjoyable.
If you believe it's possible for a GM to cheat, you fundamentally misunderstand the nature of roleplaying games and are doing it wrong.
>>50521064
>But again, all of this should be in service of the game being enjoyable.
Watch as everyone ignores this sentence and pretends you're John WickYou still made a totally unnecessary post for the sake of starting an argument, though
>>50521160
I'm more hoping to draw out people who disagree. I've seen people express the opposite opinion in other threads a few times, but since it's never the main topic I've never really received a full explanation as to why they believe that. I figured it was worth a shot.
Who are you to say what a "compelling and enjoyable experience" is?
How do you expect your players to react when you tell them that you will ignore or change the rules to your judgement without them knowing?
And also expect them act as if they don't know?
Changing or ignoring the rules behind everyone else backs to one's interest has a name: cheating
Hey fa/tg/uys!
I just bought the 5ed starter set with Lost Mines of Phandelver and I'm reading through the rulebook and it mentions that taking the disengage action means that you do not incur AoO for your movement. I'm not sure I understand though.
Does this mean a disengaging character can move around any number of enemies without AoO or does it just count once?
Since the character used their action to disengage does that mean they don't have an action to make an attack with?
Any clarification your vaunted elders could lend would be greatly appreciated.
>>50520992
You can move around without disengaging.
Disengage lets you move out of an opponent's reach without provoking opportunity attacks. The limit is your movement.
>>50520992
A disengaging character does not provoke opportunity attacks for the whole turn.
A creature that uses their action to disengage cannot also use it to attack. Some things will let you disengage with your bonus action, meaning you can then attack with your action.
>>50521106
What kinds of things allow disengage as a bonus action?
>>50521097
So the idea is a get in reach of an enemy, then burn my attack action to disengage and I've basically flipped a toggle that lets me avid all AoO for the rest of my turn?
DO NOT OPEN CAN EVER DO TO WAY TOO MUCH FUCKIN' CHOAS INSIDE!
>>50520844
How do you misspell a word when it's in the picture you're posting
>>50520877
Maybe it's missed spelled in the picture.
>>50520877
He's talking about ChoA.
So I installed a mod for Soulstorm that adds Admech Explorators, and this is one of the units.
Admech is my favorite faction in 40k, and even I haven't seen this.
I assume it's some form of dreadnought, but the poor fuck entombed in it isn't exactly willing. "What have you done to us!?" "This is worse than death!" I've not seen these before, they're called Visitors.
Did the modders just make this up, or is it an actual unit?
I tried googling this shit myself, but kept coming up with nothing on it, so I assume it's just made up.
>>50520681

It's just some weird modder wank.

I get that "Daddy Issues" is a popular meme and Aaron seems to have an issue with authority figures, but I would like to point out that he has said in the past that his birth father was a wife beater. Let's cut him some slack, ok?

I actually like it when my players decide to roleplay for awhile, as I like roleplay the most of out the tabletop...
...and because that means that just buys me more time to make more stuff in future sessions so as to not run dry due to me being kinda lazy.
Yesterday there was a GNS thread, and toward the end of it I posted this. Somebody said GURPS should be in the middle, and although I can see how GURPS is mechanically both Retro and Pretentious, I've don't quite see how it's Stupid. I've never played much of it, though.
For those who've never seen this, RSP theory is a parody of GNS (gamist/narrativist/simulationist) theory which says that any RPG worth playing can be categorized as either Retro, Stupid, or Pretentious -- Retro being defined as antiquated or passe, Stupid being defined as not taking itself seriously, Pretentious being defined as taking itself too seriously -- with more integration between the categories being better. (By contrast, classical GNS theory states that an RPG is at its best when it picks one category and sticks to it.)
I'd put GURPS as Retro/Pretentious, yeah.
Also, Nobilis needs a level of pretentious beyond anything else on that chart. That game is the ultimate example of that style.
>>50520567
Even more pretentious than Eoris Essence?
>>50520627
Yep. Eoris is impenetrable as fuck, but that's an odd combination of Stupid and Pretentious. Nobilis meanwhile is pure, unfiltered pretentious.

What do you use to hold your cards? What do your sleeves/deck box look like?
>>50519761
Case I use is the prototype of the Ultra Pro dual deck box that rolls out they gave out at Nashville that I bought for $10 on eBay before the uglier mass produced versions came out.
Sleeves are just snug fit matte white. Either Ultra Pro or KMC. I prefer KMC over Player's Choice.
I like this box because if using it for YGO instead of M:tG, the second deck compartment can hold sideboard, dice, or even a calculator, while the smaller deck and extra deck fit in the other compartment.
Mostly Deckbuilder Toolkit boxes. They're just so perfect.
I also have some of those magnetic flip boxes I use for the EDH decks I like more than the others.
Oh, and I have one of those longer magnetic flip boxes, the ones that are divided into two parts with "adjustable" little walls, that I use to hold four Tiny Leader decks.
