What system is best for Prince Valiant style knightly adventures?

The Prince Valiant RPG. Duh.

I've heard of that, but isn't it quite old?
Is it any good?

I haven't read it very closely, but it seems to be based around telling a cooperative story, with occasional coin-throwing (d2 dice pool) to determine success or failure.
There are other options, such as Pendragon.

Pendragon? Never heard of it.

I can't tell you anything more than what's on the Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendragon_(role-playing_game)
I only hear praise of it, so I'm highly skeptical.

The Valiant rpg is old, but still one of my favorites and very good for its intended purpose if you like narrative systems. (In fact it was one of the first systems to focus more on narrative than simulation.) It's a fairly lite ruleset with just enough crunch to satisfy gamers who like hard numbers to play with, although of course opinions will always vary.
Pendragon is heavier but brilliantly designed for its intended purpose, which is Arthurian fantasy. However, it has a different feel than the Valiant tales, and wouldn't capture Valiant quite as well as the Actual Valiant rpg.
Personally, I'm a big fan of both but prefer Valiant. It just suits my GMing style better.
