So does anyone know what's up with the new City-State of the Invincible Overlord thingy? Is it still a clusterfuck?

Online communities are the closest you can get. Tabletop Simulator and Vassal both have their flaws, but if you have no other options they can work out.

Alternately, you can see if there are any local clubs. Unfortunately a lot of IRL gaming still sucks but it's worth a try.

Maybe take some courses at the local community college in something that interests you. Make friends with some of your classmates.

And often they'll have clubs and groups and meetups, so you might even find a group of people who also love board games.

Because it would've worked better as a video game. It has too much stuff layered on top of each other that being a video game would've put lot of the bookeeping in the background

A better question would be what could even fucking stop him and the answer is not much. Police and swat would be wholly unprepared, remember Eversors take on tanks and shit. Theyde need to call in a full scalel military response and probably level half of D.C

4e is probably the edition that needed .5 or PF treatment least. Not just because it was somewhat better calibrated to start with, but also because it had other means by which to roll out updates using its online tools.

Additionally, among retro/clone stuff I usually get more out of stuff that tweaks the source. DCC, ACKs, and the like rather than OSRIC. When those start emerging from the 4e crowd rather than yet another 4e-lite (and probably only lite because one guy doesn't want to write up a few hundred powers) then I might be more interested.

4E was one of the best electronic D&D because of the Character Builder. I don't think a few-tweaks retroclone could survive without having the same tool for easiness of creation and control.

Sometimes I think just a ground shaking change, but keeping the same spirit, could get higher attention than the original, since 4e can be easily fixed with few free feats and monster math fix.

I mean, 4e is ripe for quite a few.

Powers and formatting oriented around the dungeon crawl rather than combat, with combat as something handled much more rapidly.

Or maybe a version that was all about kingdom building. Get overland travel, large numbers of simply statted units can be deployed from built/conquered assets and they'll accompany you until their numbers thin.

Maybe build a game with similar formatting, but around something off the beaten path. Mysteries or something. But maybe skin this over something apocalyptic.

Or... shit... power format might be great for a cyberpunk game in general. There's no real reason that one with well written systems wouldn't be amenable to powers for hacking and recon and shit.

Let's be honest here, Sanguinius has always been the most femenine primarch. One thing that always bothered me about the sisters of battle was that their living saints sort of jacked the Angelic theme that the Blood Angels always projected and made for a sort of thematic redundancy. This takes care of that by in turn merging the Sisters into the overall Space Marine faction, with Sanguinia being the prototypical Angelic female.

GW's total lack of knowledge of the Latin language inspired this change. Manus, Latin for hand, is a feminine noun and therefore Ferrus, the male form of the word for iron, should really be Ferra, the female form, in order for grammatical correctness. Also, the Gorgons were females in Greek myth, I know he's from the planet of Medusa, but it always irked me that that was his nickname.

Vulkan's name, a European god, and his role as the token black primarch never really sat well with me. Besides his caring and placid nature and ideology fits pretty well with a female 2bh

Morrigan is one of my favorite mythological deities and it's a crime, A CRIME, that having an entire raven-themed legion there comes no reference to the Raven goddess of death and battle. (I just wanted a qt acrobatic raven chick 2bh)

The Alpha legion is all about ambiguity and subtlety. Alpharius and Omegon being opposite genders but at the same time indistinguishable would only add to that aesthetic and I think would be really cool 2bh.

Dude, look at some of her myths, she is like super pissed off at someone half the time. There's kind of a dualism there, but she is not the typical mother figure. Still on the right track here tho - there's a time to be chill and look out for the civvies, and a time to go murder shit with fire!

If you really want to double down on a mother figure goddess from a more melanin-rich mythology, you'd probably do better looking at Hathor or Asherah. They don't have the fire association that Pele does tho.
