So, what are some interesting weaknesses monsters have had in your games, /tg/?
One of my all time favorites is "Unbeatable in combat unless you can trick it into somehow wielding a weapon".
>>51015831
We tried to kill a member of the gentry, a true lord of the fae, and monster from arcadia, who took the form of "Ice Queen" style characters. We then had to keep killing her in mundane ways, until she entered a persona which had a thematic way to kill her.
Needless to say, we filled Hans Christian Andersen's snow queen full of lead.
Fired an RPG at Elsa after riddling her horde of snow-monsters with bullets and flame-weapons
Then finally lucked out with The White Witch, who we fed to a lion.

My party befriended a CN Winter Fey last night.
She had a heat stroke over the camp fire.

Heya, I'm entirely new to d&d and am about to DM for a group of new people. Any tips, and also will it be obnoxious to use this huge 3d printed d20 for really important rolls?
>>51014579
Yes, because you won't get truly random dice results from a 3d-printed object.
Go buy Gamescience dice.

>Be playing chess online.
>Get in vastly superior position, the sort that you expect your opponent to resign.
>They do not resign.
>instead, one by one, he deliberately hangs all of his pieces, making his position even worse.
>THEN he resigns.
Why do people do this?
>>51013319
What does it mean to hang a piece?
>>51014149
When you move a piece in such a way that it can be taken for no compensation. Usually just a stupid blunder, but in this case it seems to point to deliberately trying to throw the position before resigning.
>>51013319
A. They don't know they've already lost.
B. They just want to keep playing because they find the playing itself fun, and don't really care about winning (me).
C. They hope to frusturate you so much that you just quit, making them the winner.

What's the most obviously-ineffective plan your PCs have ever come up with?
"Maybe we can make the door of infinitely spawning minions run out of minions."

Bribing a rat with cheese to take a message to the villain hiding behind a secret door.
The note said "open the door plz ;_;"

Hey guys, I really want to play tabletop games and get into an RPG or something but my friends aren't into that kind of stuff. I also have only played RPG a couple times before IRL, but I loved every second of it, however I'm not very knowledgeable on rules and stuff. Is there an easy way to join a new-player friendly group?
I checked out the local game stores and they're not all that friendly to RPG people. One is pretty much MTG and Pokemon exclusive, the other hates anyone who sticks around a long time after buying stuff and sorta hates its customers in general.
So, how od I get in with a RPG group, preferably a newb friendly one?
>>51012190
Look online. Roll20 isn't bad, though it'll take some getting used to.
>>51012190
See the Game Finder thread, and bring your persistence and your willingness to take shitposting with a grain of salt. If you don't have your own salt, the thread occasionally produces its own.
I see these posts all the time and want to rip out my grognard beard. How do you know what your friends are into if they have never done it. Why would you want to play with strangers?
Host a game night and invite your friends over. Surely they will humor you for a few hours.
If that doesn't work cool you tried. In 1979 I had no internet and managed find groups through my college game club, physical bulletin boards at the student union and at my FLGS.
You can also try organized play like Adventurers League, pathfinder Society, etc.
Still my recommendation remains to learn the game with people you are already friends with. I still play with one of my original group members from college weekly.

Help me settle a dispute /tg/
My brother and I were playing a 4-player game of Game of Thrones Risk, which includes a bunch of extra shit like character abilities, gold and an objective based victory.
Player 3 attacked one of his territories (Winterfell), and he played a maester card (basically spells you can buy and activate with gold) called "A Temporary Truce"
>Play when an opponent declares an invasion on a territory you control.
>That territory cannot be invaded until the opponent first conquers a territory from another player.
When player 3 then attacked an adjacent territory (Dreadfort) also belonging to my brother, he said that "a temporary truce" protected all of his territories from P3 until P3 attacked P4 or me. We said that the card meant only Winterfell was protected from P3, and other territories of his were fair game.
Who was right? I couldn't find any rulings online about this card.
>>51011655
It's ambiguously worded because we don't know exactly who the "another player" refers together. There's no real answer, so I'd suggest you guys just decide on one answer for the future and stick with it.
>>51011809
together* should be "to here*
>>51011655
>That territory cannot be invaded until the opponent first conquers a territory from another player
>That territory
It obviously only protects Winterfell.
Why do Nazis make such good villains?
They work in almost every setting.

Of course.

It checks out.
>nazi infiltration of the west and shadow government
Completely believable.
>nazis win wat next
Let's go.
Also post Occult Nazis.

You forgot "Nazis are the good guys lol xD" campaigns to round out the awfulness.
