What's the best way to memorize pharmacology in vet/med school? I mean when they make you memorize so many meds in a 2-4 semester subject (shorter in some places I believe).
Pharmacologist answers also welcome.
I mean, I get it's different for everyone, but how did you manage to memorize all of those drugs, their divisions and mechanisms of actions without mixing it up?

Also, what literature do you recommend? Personally I'm studying to be a vet but med school literature is welcome as it's not too different. Pharmacy university literature is a bit too much for what I need. Preferably something that doesn't get into history too much.

nice maymay image friend!!!

You're just asking how to memorize better right? If you're mixing stuff up it means you're either cramming too fast or you're simply unfocused when studying (or you don't revise often enough).

Pretty much this
t. halfway through my pharmacy bachelor's
>>
>>9113042
You have to use mnemonics and come up with stories relating to the drugs, at first. After a few times (3-4 days) of doing that- you should remember it without the story ect.

existence isnt logical. it had to be created by something which had to be created by something and so on.

so why in the fuck is everybody arguing about fuckin simulation memes and other homoshit

It's only illogical if you assume it had to be created. There's no restriction on causality pre big bang.

>no such thing as causality
>"*"*"*pre-big bang*"*"*"
If there is no such thing as causality before the big bang, then how can it be "pre"? In order for it to come "before" the big bang, a causal framework must already be in place.
Causality is literally just change, nothing more, nothing less. Without causality, things can't "happen", because the notion of time is meaningless. Ergo, the big bang could not have "happened", much less at a specific point in "time", without causality.
I know I sound like I'm spewing philosophical pseudoscientific bullshit, but that's only because of the esoteric scenario we're discussing.

Why is there such a bias in science and technology related-fields against people who have to write things down to work a problem?

I can't tell you many times I've heard, "You can't do that in your head?"

It's not real math if you don't show every step.

Is it possible for an adult to learn from elementary school basic arithmetics up to last year of high school math in the span of a year? How would you go around this? 2 hours a day? 3 hours a day? More? Or is it not feasible in this time span?

Whatr we talking here? Did you miss out on highschool?
>>
>>9112580

I learned an entire year's worth of high school math in three months years ago, when I attended summer school (I did it to skip myself ahead). So yeah you'd be cutting it close, but it should theoretically be possible. Be warned though, your retention might not be as good later on, because you've spent less time with the material.
>>
>>9112594
I was never good at math so instead of working harder I always avoided it and half assed it through tests.
Now I want to binge it all to maybe pick a STEM career since I am not sociable enough to make it as lawyer or teacher or go through the liberal arts.
In my third world country if you don't have a degree you can't expect more than the minimun wage which only is 375 american dollars a month.
I know it's fucking stupid but this is the only solution I could find.

this is a meme, in real life IQ is still more important.

remember: most people hate IQ and always try to discredit it. IQ has been studied for a long time and it's importance is still scientific consensus. Most people trying to discredit IQ generally produce bad academic stuff that is blown by the media.

it depends

social corralling can get you very far. At the end of the day though, we need true experts, so there will always be a place for truly smart people

What does /sci/ think of pharmaceutics?
I consider studying it. Is it any good?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.

Finished pharmacy. Too many historical blabering about drugs used like 20 years ago. Not so many mechanisms of action explained fully. Still I think it's worth it because I can easier see through all the scam medicines and can cure myself and my family better.

Are memory pills obvious scams? so are anti-depressants that damage you for life?
>>
>>9112979
Sometimes being damaged for life is better than succumbing to untreated mental problems. Some psychiatrists I've spoken to are pretty realistic about that.

I'm just not nearly as practiced in mathematical reasoning, as I am verbally.
I have to arbitrarily synthesize formal language into natural language to understand, after that I'm golden.

Yes, there are physician-scientists as well as a lot of physicians who are about as scientific as a trade. It varies.
>>
>>9112028
yes medicine is a part of STEM. But it's not discussed often here because most of it is just rote learning and memorisation. Compared to other STEM topics like physics or math, the topics are really boring and doesn't really activate the neurons.

I am a high school Philosophy teacher, which means I teach Philosophy to high schoolers. To make my classes as little boring as possible, I let my students talk, debate, argue etc as much as possible. Countless times already I have seen high schoolers, even the "moronic football team captain" or "braindead party girl" types of student, talk about their own worldviews in perfect allignment with some of the greatest thinkers. For example, I have a few students who often argue you can't know anything for sure exists besides yourself while others advocate everything is essentially the shadow of an idea. Then there are those who think everyone is born good, but they are corrupted by the evil in this world, and others who think everyone is born neutral, like a zero. And all of them say this without having ever read a Philosophy book at all. How come? It takes hundreds, thousands of years for one great person to suddenly make a major breakthrough in Philosophy... but these days, 16 year olds without a fraction of the education the great masters had can intuitively reach the same conclusions. Why is that, /sci/? Have human brains simply gotten bigger over the course of time? I don't get it.

Those seem like pretty basic ideas friendo. This is definitely /his/ rather than /sci/ though. Those kids have seen the matrix and shit like that, the ideas are already in society and the media they consume.
>>
>>9112046
If they're so basic why did it take genius intellect for them to be formulated at first? For kids to intuitively grasp what for thousands of years was simply unknown, that's quite a feat. That's the point I'm trying to make, just with different words.

Maybe you're right. The ideas, being discovered, have their toll on society, which makes it possible for others to intuitively understand them. Just as how you don't need to be Einstein to think like Einstein.

This thread belongs here because it's of scientific nature. I'm asking about a natural phenomenon, an observation, rather than debating the aforementioned philosophies.
>>
>>9112022

No, Shogi is the superior strategy game.

I have extremely aggressive Male Pattern Baldness and have started the following regimen to try to reverse it:

.5 mg Dutasteride
100 mg Spironolactone (50 mg * 2/day)
25 mcg/ day transdermal Estrogen

My only concern is, will significantly lowering my testosterone change the amount of male pheromones that I produce and make me less attractive to women?
