Someone please explain to me what is wrong with popsci meme.

What exactly is wrong with it? Is it bad that it creates a false sense of intellectual superiority in the common normie? Is it spreading wrong information? Did it make of science something laughable?

I find it stupid, but is there really a justification for it feeling.. i dunno, odd?

It is used as a tool to use by the brainlets to give an apparent scientific explanation for their nonsense
It makes science both popular but also elitist; meaning that it is used as a way to feel superior. When scientist must be humble and inclusive
Making it popular to a mass that falls for memes all the time will mean that science funds and such will be used to fund meme science and projects instead of feasible and useful projects and investigations
Scienceā„¢ answers to the modern man's obsession with efficiency and dehumanization; wanting to make everything convenient and overly complicated will be very damaging for the human mind
Progress for the sake of progress
Promotes slacktivism and the mindset that originates it
Because brainlets must know their place
Because brainlets who think that they like science will use it to feel superior to people who do not care about science

"When your former secretary honoured me by asking me to read a paper to your society, my first thought was that I would certainly do it and my second thought was that if I was to have the opportunity to speak to you I should speak about something which I am keen on communicating to you and that I should not misuse this opportunity to give you a lecture about, say, logic. I call this a misuse, for to explain a scientific matter to you it would need a course of lectures and not an hour's paper. Another alternative would have been to give you what's called a popular scientific lecture, that is a lecture intended to make you believe that you understand a thing which actually you don't understand, and to gratify what I believe to be one of the lowest desires of modern people, namely the superficial curiosity about the latest discoveries of science." - Wittgenstein, A lecture on ethics

Do any of you ever feel relaxed or comfortable during studying? I nearly always feel anxious and on edge. Probably why I procrastinate so much, it's a way of avoiding feeling uncomfortable.

Do the living forms perceive the time as we do?

I will give some examples in order you understand my question.

Does the time (for example a minute) looks longer for a bug which has a short life expectancy?

In a similar way, does a minute looks shorter for a turtle with a long life expectancy?

In a similar way, does a minute looks as a second for a tree with a very long life expectancy? In other words, if a man walks along a tree, would the tree detects him in a point A and then in a point B 20 meters farther and nothing between these 2 points?

Sorry for my English.

>>
This is part of the Hard Problem of Conciousness, look that up.
>>
Perception of time depends partly on age. Remember when you were a kid and summers seemed to last forever, and now you're older the years just fly past? It's because when you were a kid a summer was 10% of your lifespan, and the older you get each year is a smaller and smaller fraction of your life.
Bugs and young turtles think time is slow, old turtles think it's fast.
>>
Bugs have no consciousness to speak of, and while they apparently act rationally with respect to time it's only hardcoded behavior, similar to what robots with a comparable computing power would do.

Reptiles do have some conscious time perception, but their consciousness is very narrow and doesn't extend much beyond obvious cycles like day/night and dangerous situation/safe situation.

Plants are not conscious, their behavior is purely biochemical and mechanical.

For humans the perception of time is globally distorted as one gets older like >>9103203 said.

Is cancer OK in moderation? Could you have a small amount of metastasis that causes some trouble but isn't crippling or fatal? I think we're too anti-cancer in modern times and should learn to coexist in peace with our tumors.

A couple of my billionaire Jewish friends and I asked ourselves the exact same question back in 1999, after a couple years of preparations we ran a large scale experiment.

Suffice to say: no.
It doesn't work, after waiting for 3 hours we had to shut it down ourselves with the aid of some termite and c4.
