If you had a choice you didn't need it.

MSNBC just had a segment on BTC and how Putin is getting interested in crypto to launder his stolen oligarch money, and they mentioned how Putin met with Vitalik about ETH

Are we in the public awareness phase or are we still early adopters? Damnit

I'm planning on majoring in computer engineering but wanted just a rundown of how it is. I heard it's a mixture of electrical engineering and computer science, the salary is good. How is the job market? Is it a marketable major like Computer science?

>>9092173
Yes you study courses from both majors.
After Graduate You can work as EE or CS. Widening Job options.
> And according to US Bureau of labor Statistics:
Computer hardware Engineers are the 2nd best paid Engineering ($115,080 per year) in USA (after PetroE)
>Source: www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/computer-hardware-engineers.htm
I believe that it's an excellent major.
>Despite the Hate of /sci/ Math fags towards CS.

Could Computer Science and Computer Engineering be considered interchangeable when applying to work in the AI field?
>>
>>9092173
Computer Engineering is good and your description is pretty good. It's Computer Science + Electrical Engineering and this means you focus more on hardware design, low level programming, drivers, embedded systems, FPGA/ASIC, etc.

You will make more money than the average software engineer because you will work on more specialized systems that the Java slurpers just can't handle. Prepare to learn C and assembly in-depth and become very happy without OS or runtime abstractions such as memory allocation and threads unless you implement it yourself.

>>9093776
It depends what you mean by "working in the AI field". I work in the AI field but I work in AI infrastructure which basically means I work on code all related to feature extraction + classification i.e. executing machine learning models such as neural nets or decision trees. I don't personally touch the models themselves.

If you want to train machine learning models then do Computer Science plus a Master's in Machine Learning. Often though this is more of a PhD level area, it's much harder to get employed here.

If you want to work on machine learning infrastructure like what I described, do Computer Engineering and also make sure to focus heavily on data structures and algorithms which sometimes CE can skimp on due to other EE related electives. And self study ML related topics, then you can easily get a good job straight out of college with just a Bachelor's.

Hello /sci/, I am seeking your mental health expertise on an issue I have been having when communicating with normies in IRC chat rooms (typically Reddit)

Now, I'm pretty red pilled, but I am self aware enough to approach a new room with a clean slate and unbiased perspective

However, it seems that no matter what room I am (metaphorically speaking here), it seems that someone always has to come out of the woodwork and say something asinine like the sky is red. How am I supposed to do anything but politely inform them that it's actually blue? Every time I do this, they lose their minds and I get banned.

Why do I feel this chronic fatigue kick in when I study for like 5 hours with breaks in between?

Like your brain just gets so board of sitting in front of the same desk for 5 hours for both work and rest and just shuts down.

How do I solve this? And am I the only one that experiences this problem?

Condensed Matter and Materials Physicists assemble!

I'm looking for some tips into which fields should I look into. Currently I'm more hinging into materials. I've got some metal phase transitions work lined up and I'm wondering whether I should focus on something else. What are some interesting things to work on in this field?

First off you need a PhD to get to the interesting things.

Semiconductors are always interesting and always safe for an escape route to industry should the academic route be unworkable. Si is safe as is solar power. IR technology is more exotic as is InP, CMT and other exotic materials but industrial use is less common outside defence contractors.

Superconductors are exciting especially if you get in on a promising project but the risk is simply enormous. The halcyon days of High Tc came to a brutal end, 20 years ago. It still is pretty dead.

Nano technology is hot. High risk but if you are young I'd say go for it.

Is western science and western logic a privileged path to knowledge?

>>

Privileged in what way? Certainly not privileged in terms of western logos itself since it took a massive amount of effort to build up to its current state. It's not as if the point we are at now with things like the scientific method, for example, were always obvious throughout time. The greatest minds of history molded it through a lot of trial, error and bloodshed. In short, it was earned, not privilege-based.

Privileged to the person walking the path? There's no doubt about that, but that extends to anyone walking down it. You are privileged because predecessors have effectively gifted it to you. That's not exclusive to western logos; it just so happens to be the most apparently useful to people seeing its successes. You can't find anything, for instance, branching from eastern logos that reaches close to one of the modern pinnacles of the computer which happens to be just a byproduct.

Syracuse was a Greek colony. Greek letters also stand for numbers.

For example 2 + 2 = 4 would be expressed as Β + Β = Δ.

Architecture student here.
You guys know where I could learn more about proportions and geometry?

I'm comfortable with theoric works if need be, but ideally, it would show the possible applications in art.

Be it documentaries or books you've enjoyed, I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Why do we only have memories from certain moments here and there, from certain days? Why do they come and go?

A memory popped up in my mind, and I forgot about it an ago - and who's to say if I'll EVER remember it.

How are memories even formed? What triggers me to remember a memory?

I'm thinking about my last relationship, and I'm sad that I can't recall every day we had together. Same can be said for me wanting to remember all of my freshman year of high school - I just can't, and that sucks.I'd love to able to just scroll through my life like a Facebook time line and recall it all in my mind

Like that "S" for instance. As soon as I saw it, I was flooded with memories from middle school. Memories I wasn't even aware I had.

I'm annoyed that we'll never understand memories or dreams in my lifetime.
