>ferrari had more BOP changes made to the Ford GT after getting btfo at watkins glen
>"IMSA's recognition of the GTM performance imbalance was met by allowing the Corvette C7.Rs to drop 10 kilos (22 pounds) and to increase horsepower and torque by installing air restrictors with a combined 0.4 mm wider opening. A minor increase in fuel capacity (+2L) was also granted to compensate for the increase in consumption."
>"Like Corvette, Porsche's 911 RSR will also remove 10 kilos (22 pounds), Ferrari's 488 was given a minor fuel capacity increase (+1L), and BMW's M6 received no changes."
>"Ford's twin-turbo V6 GT went in the opposite direction of Corvette's C7.R. The GTs will race at CTMP with an extra 15 kilos (33 pounds) and have had power and torque taken away with turbo boost reductions from 2000-7200 rpms"
http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/imsa-makes-gtlm-gtd-bop-changes-ahead-of-ctmp/
Since daytona the Ford GT has now had, 3 Boost Reductions, and 25kg of weight added…..
And Ferrari on the other hand has had 1 boost boost reduction and a 10 kg weight increase.
The corvette had .6 total reduction in intake and 10kg of weight added...
With these current changes that have been made to the corvette it will be down only .2 intake. Making it nearly as fast as the beginning of the year at Daytona.
The Ford GT keeps getting slapped with performance disadvantages but still fucks Ferrari and Chevy in the ass. It's amazing how you're so quick to make threads claiming Ford is cheating but never report on the fact that they keep getting significant BOP changes. So, what's your excuse now Ferrari and GM fangirls?
>>15392259
There was never any doubt that Ford would win these races and Ferrari would penalize them. They did the same thing to the Corvette's last year.

/o/, is this a good car for a college student?

For $3.2k there must be a catch, right? High maintenance costs?
>>15391851
Well it's the faggot/girl model of the Mustang, so there's that to remember
>auto
>convertible
shut up and buy a civic
The catch is it's literally the heaviest slowest Mustang. You will be fucked with and humiliated by every boy racer on the road.
I've never been this broke in my life and Im in college and need a fucking car. I found this shit for $950 on craigslist and i test drove it. felts smooth and fine but i dont want to take any chances. is this good? 1993 Chrysler New Yorker

Yes, it should been a fine DD OP
>>15391492
So long as it doesn't have the 3.0L Mitsubishi V6, it'll be fine. The 3.3L V6 and 3.8L V6 are pretty bulletproof.
Bought a 1986 Chevy 3/4 ton truck my dad is convinced i cant put AC in it. is it true they didnt make these trucks with AC?
>>15391465
Of course they made them with AC. Go to a pick n pull, find one with AC, and pull all the AC related parts off of it.
they definitely did. also have them with power features as well. 85 k10 myself. good luck with it. also check out vintageair kits if you dont want to get donor parts and just want a kit.
thanks
now I miss my old 86 chevy 3/4 ton

Bout like a 240sx
Floppy and unreliable

If stock they are fine except it feels like you are pushing a brick down the highway since that's about what they are aerodynamically.

I'm okay with this.
Im actually considering a mr2
>Before /o/ from car fags i know mr2's have a bad stigma around it
>after /o/ i started liking mr2's
im not sure if this is meme magic at work but im liking this car more and more
But which one should i get ?
i would dump money into engine & turbo, breaks and suspention
(between 300,350 HP) goal
but interms of parts which one is cheaper easier to find ?
If you want to be making those power figures, go for a mkII. I'm about to pick up a gen one, and they make 110ish na, and 135ish hp supercharged. You could get 300 hp off a 4age or 4agze, and that would be sick, but it would cost a fortune and really not be worth it. Get a turbo gen II and get new cams, bigger turbo, etc.
>>15390078
The MR2 suits what you want better.
But the turbo engine should go in the trash. At those power levels, you'll be dealing with a lot of lag which is dangerous in a very twitchy RWD car like the MR2. Currently, the in thing is to do a 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 swap from a newer Toyota Camry, using the wiring harness and computer from a Lotus Evora. Tune the engine right (performance parts are starting to come out for it or are in development because it's such a popular MR2 swap), and 350 HP is easily achievable. The old adage "There's no replacement for displacement" holds true here. Pic related is a 2GR-FE swapped W20 MR2 getting a turbo thrown on. As a bonus, the V6 swap has other benefits. The entire V6 drivetrain is lighter than the entire drivetrain of the 2.0L Turbo, which means less rear weight bias, a lighter overall car, and better handling.
Alternatively, you could get a Pontiac Fiero. Infinitely easier to find and find parts for, and everything under the sun has been swapped into them from 2.3L Quad 4 Oldsmobile 4 bangers to big 7.0L LS7 V8's making over 500 HP.
Because of the detachable plastic body parts, it's easier to service than an MR2. Because of the overbuilt steel spaceframe chassis, it's MUCH safer than the MR2. And because the suspension was derived from 2 different cheap GM platforms (front suspension from a Chevette, rear suspension is like the front suspension of a GM A or W-body), it's less twitchy and more forgiving than the MR2 while having extremely similar cornering limits.
It also has more luggage space, is more comfortable, and quieter.
>>15390316
Uh, no you actually won't deal with that much lag is you get the twin scroll turbo manifold from the gen 3 3SGTE, and the CT6 twin scroll turbo, you'll have to swap out the pistons and redo the fuel system, but you can easily hit 300-350hp without a lot of lag, you're talking about swapping in a modern 3.5 V6 like it's nothing, except its actually more difficult that just working on the 3SGTE
Love this set up.

Definitely the best executed digital dash of all time
I like the dashes that aren't fuck huge and the windshield isn't tiny so you can actually see the fucking road.
It'd like to start out by saying I've read the sticky, I've bought several used cars in my life, and I'll try to make this first post as conclusive as possible.
It's time for a new car. I live in VT, and my family is ~8hrs away, I make the arduous journey every 1-2 months, and I have a 2004 WJ that I'm ready to replace.
Since I live in VT on a fucking mountain, I would kinda need AWD. Since I'm still young and free enough to make irresponsible decisions, I want something fast. I've found the following cars:
-https://vermont.craigslist.org/cto/5630551741.html
-https://vermont.craigslist.org/cto/5600103501.html
I am not a car guy. I've owned a 98 Stratus, a 94 F-150, a 90 Bronco, a 00 XJ, a 01 WJ, and this 04 WJ. I have no experience with the above mentioned vehicles and manufacturers.
That all being said, I am open to suggestions, as I'm sure there are vehicles I've overlooked. I just need something fun to drive with AWD and decent gas mileage.
What do you all think?
>>15381935
The WRX should be fun. I wouldn't trust a 10 year STI on long road trips.
If you want something comfy I'd suggest a AWD acura TL or a ford taurus SHO.
>>15382070
This is something I was hoping to address. The WRX is turbocharget just like the STi, so what's the difference? Why is the STI less reliable?
>>15381935
Boyracer detected. Just get an old outback before it got massive or a forester xt.
How long until it's confiscated and destroyed by the feds?
>>15400030
Who cares, audi a shit.
>>15400042
Audi> Mercedes
So I recently bought a used 535xi and pretty much everything on the car works perfectly, but I am more than likely going to need to out new twins in. This car is notorious for this problem and the fix is quite straight forward if you know what you are doing. https://youtu.be/VQD6tITYH7k
What I am asking is would it be easier just to mod the turbos or just get new ones?
>>15398923
Just go to a hx35
>>15398964
Please explain or should I just Google that?
>replacing two snails easy and straightforward
Why do you think they need replaced? Do you have wastegate rattle? Is the 5 series not covered for the n54 hpfp and wgr like the 3 is? Also why in the fuck did you not get the v8

this worth it? Would fix the turn signals, windshield, fuel tank, and mirrors as long as the frame/forks are in good shape and the engine is good. fairings and scuffs I don't really care about.
>>15398436
Yeah its a good deal, idk why people think bikes are completely totaled once they have been dropped once, put a new side cover on it, fix the other little things and its instantly worth more than twice what you paid for it. just say its never been dropped for the whole time you owned it.
