How does one drop a bike?

Been riding for two years and never dropped my bike. I was told everyone on a motorcycle has dropped a bike countless times. Only laid it down on the side to adjust the chain tension once because too poorfag for a center stand.

Do they mean like you ot into a low-speed crash, or got off the bike without using the kickstand or how?

The first time I was parking and I put down the kickstand and the particular part of the pavement it made contact with was indented slightly - certainly not in any significant way (or so I thought). I put it down, get off my bike, and the fucking thing kicks right back up instantly.

It's a separator indicating that those are separate one-way streets that happen to run parallel with no divider and one of them is a carpool lane, and yes it would be illegal to cross though you would be unlikely to get pulled for doing so if it were safe. You cannot cross double yellows. You can cross double yellows in a reside total street to enter a residence. However, this is a highway...

A solid white line means that it is suggested to not cross.

So basically it means don't cross. The left lane is the carpool lane and there is dedicated carpool exits. But these dickheads usually don't want to wait in the exit queue like everyone else and illegally cross double yellows without blinkers or checking their blind spots.

In between the first and second lane is the recommended spot for motorcycles to lane split. The lines increase the space between cars and make it easier for motorcycles to share the lane. Some freeways even have the lines separated by 2-3 feet to act as a "painted barrier" to be used by motorcycles to share lanes.

I have a fat friend whose only motivation for losing weight is so he can ride a Sportbike, which is cool cause he's doing well.

Makes me feel not so bad for having the lamest crash ever when I was practicing in a church parking lot. I was coming to the edge of the lot and needed to slow down but didn't want to brake and turn so I started turning but realized I was going too fast. Not sure what the fuck I did I think I went for the brake but ended up squeezing the throttle instead and instead of clutching in I went full YOLO over the curb and into the grass. The bike was fine, just a little dirty from taking a digger into the grass and besides a small scrape on my leg, the only injury I sustained was to my pride.

Wish I would have filmed it. Not another living soul saw it happen.

Yeah no, that's not how it happened. That was my bike and what happened is that the master cylinder pressure return port was clogged and so the brakes would slowly build up pressure until they seized both calipers (It wasn't just one like he thinks). What you're seeing in the video is the front brakes locking up and the bike slipping out from under him. He only rid the bike once prior to this video and he didn't know how to tell when the brakes were beginning to seize up or how to react when they lock up.

I'm going to be getting my first bike soon and I need to know what kind of gear to get.
I've been told to get a DOT-approved helmet, don't know what that means but I can figure that out myself. Boots that cover at LEAST the ankle, someone suggested firefighter boots and a dependable and comfortable choice so I might just go with that.
The part I'm having the most trouble with is the jacket. I was told that bikers are stereotyped leather for a reason. Mostly because it is good for abrasion resistance which is good if you ever fall off while in motion.
However I have no idea how to search for a good jacket that won't just disintegrate when I need it to protect me. I'd prefer no logos or at least something subdued and not too flashy but if the best is something flashy I'll take it. Safety and dependability are top priority.
Any help would be awesome and extra advice always appreciated.
