What do you guys think of this generation
Lancer? I have 5k to buy a car and I'm basically between this and a tC, but there's not much info about the Lancer.
The 2017 Lancer is the same as the 2007 Lancer, uglier fascia aside. You think I'm exaggerating, but I'm really not. I had a 2009, my friend had a 2016, they were pretty much the same car (except I paid half for double the options).
20 out of 20 on C&D's list of compact cars for a reason
>>16110910
Tbh famalam, they're pretty comfy, good on fuel, cheap, and reliable.
Only thing is they have a the shittiest interior of any modern ecobox.
>>16110921
>comfy, good on fuel, cheap, and reliable
This describes over half the cars in the segment though. Why get this over a Civic/Mazda3? Even a Focus is vastly better as long as you get it in stick shift (autobox unreliable af)
Does Hyundai offer an insane warranty because
A
>their cars are shit
or B
>they're trying to muscle their way into a market that, up until recently, hasnt taken them seriously
Its hard to deny they still have some issues, but they're gone from a literally who economy brand to a respectable powerhouse in less than decade.
What do you think?
both
Yeah both

>"Fukuichi we need a new radical design for these head lights!"
>"I'm on it"
>opens paint
>draws one long continuous scribble
>fills in random spaces using the paint bucket
>instant lights
but that's not the new supra?
??? its on a BMW platform.
Have you ever participated in a shitbox racing?
Have you ever raced your shitbox in a circuit?
How was it?
I street raced my friend in his shitbox 02 jetta
That was fun I guess

I need /o/ humor to cheer me up
Did you buy a huge pile of shit and not expect stuff to break, or what happened?
>>16110619
>But huge heap of shit
>Shit breaks
>Fix it
>It breaks more
>Fix it
>Breaks so much I can't drive it anymore
Seriously considering Treequinox if it happens again
>>16110692
What did you get? Sounds like you bought an Audi A4 with 220 000 miles on it
>you have never seen a nigger driving a Jeep wrangler
>>16110484
I've seen a nigger family driving a donk'd out JK with the doors off. fuckin try me bitch.
>mexican driving an EG civic/toyota pickup that isn't a giant pile of shit
>>16110490
This
>>16110484
Fun Fact: about 2/3 of the newer Sneks I see are driven by black dudes. And I saw an I8 earlier this week with a nig driving it but he was probably a Dolphins player or something.

Sup /o/, what are you opinions on the Suzuki Samuai and do you think 5k is fair enough for a used '88 Samurai provided it's fairly modified and in pretty damn good condition?
Didn't take a picture of the one in specific, but this is close enough.
>>16110380
Sammy's in my area (Colorado) start at about $2500 (if it runs) and go up to $8-9000 if lifted, locked, winched, etc. 5 sounds decent if it runs well, has decent mods, and/or has low-ish miles (100k or nearby).
>>16110433
given the sheer age of it I think I might be able to talk him down to 2.5k if i pay him 50% up front in cash. I doubt it'll sell because my area is more jeep country so theoretically I feel my odds are good. shame I still have another tuition payment to make first.
speaking of mods, what's the strongest engine that could be mounted in one in regards to power/weight? the things are so light I could probably bench the front axle
I'm broke as fuck and it's time I start hunting for a car again after my last one went missing.
What attributes should I look for and how much should I expect to pay for a car with the cheapest upkeep cost.
Manual Transmission? Does getting one keep drivetrain maintenance and repair costs down? Is it still worth it even if I have to learn to drive one? Should I expect to fuck up the clutch doing so?
CraigsList. How the fuck do I navigate this clusterfuck? It's flooded with backyard dealers, and garbage that should probbaly be in a junkyard. Should I be looking at higher priced vehicles and attempt to negotiate down?
Mileage. How many miles should I expect to drive these? Many of the vehicles i'm seeing in the sub 2K category are approaching or over 200,000 miles.
I live in the Metro Detroit area if that helps :/
>>16110366
Yes, there is much less to fail in a manual. No maintenance necessary minus fluid changes every 30-60k and clutches when they wear out. Unless the clutch is already on its last legs you're unlikely to fuck it up to where it's undriveable learning. What wears clutches out is slipping so unless you hold the clutch pedal in the middle for an extended period of time you're not gonna hurt it.
Don't worry about stalling, it doesn't hurt anything and everyone stalls while learning. Hell it even still happens to experienced drivers occasionally.
Autos can be finicky, especially if you get a bad one that wasn't maintained. Fluid changes every 30k and make sure they're topped off regularly, and that the fluid isn't dark/black and/or smells burnt.
Cars around 200k are more than likely going to need lots of things. The hooptie lifestyle is a special one, if you don't care about the car and keeping it for a while, find one that works/doesn't need much, drive it until it breaks, and buy another for less than it would cost to fix it.
Don't only stick to craigslist, there are other websites you can watch too to find exactly what you want such as autotrader or cars.com.
you can get an alright F150 or ranger or S10 or any american sedan from the 80's or 90's for less than a grand easy depending on where you are.
In detroit you just need to avoid buying from a melanin enriched man of the community.
>>16110366
I would agree worth kit Kat on this. If you don't mind a bit of a drive there are loads of cheap cars in Ann Arbor.
You can change settings in CL to owner only and search for specific transmissions. After that it's just an issue of finding ones that aren't too rusted out or beat to hell.
Can able is anyone identify this car? thank you hahaha

Mitsubishi lancer
>>16110318
Is that a Roush?
I'm buying a new car for the first time and I've narrowed it down to pic related or a Civic, although leaning toward the Jetta. What are /o/'s thought's on this? I'm buying new but still looking for something relatively cheap, I'm starting my first serious job and reliable transportation is a must. Please share your thoughts on the Jetta.
>buying new
Enjoy your 50% depreciation the second you sign for it
get the golf instead of the jetta if you can
>>16110217
i've been looking at the jetta, too
haven't found much in terms of reviews for the new models
>>16110232
who buys a new car as an investment?
What are /o/'s thoughts on the 1985 Nissan 300ZX?
>>16110207
Better drag coefficient than the z32 and it looks kinda cooler to some people. Other than that completely inferior.
Although I found out recently that they could come with a rare 200hp rb20det. That would make a pretty cool daily
>>16110576
Genuine interest, why do you hate Nissan?
>>16110720
Done a ton of research on them as far as chassis, suspension, braking, engine, etc...
All of it is of poor quality and design.
Yes i have owned a nissan. I can prove it too. Was a massive pile of shit.
What are some good books to get into/learn cars and engines?
>>16110131
Wikipedia. Just keep clicking the blue words until you understand all of it.
>>16110139
The best answer you will read in the whole thread. Videos are nice, too.
>>16110139
>>16110149
alrighty. Still, I like books tho
>tfw all these people on /o/ with better cars than you
>>16110121
Could be worse. Could be a yurofag with no income, license or car.
Their cars may be better than mine specs wise but mine makes me happy, does what I need in a car and is reliable, and that's all that really matters.
>>16110121
Well, is my car ACTUALLY better than yours?
