This was SO good.
It's quite simple cucks.
If you have no use for a truck, don't buy a truck
If you need a truck <=2 times a month. Borrow someone's truck
Stop buying trucks for no reason.
>>16208193
>having to borrow vehicles from someone else
its almost like you dont enjoy independence. anyways just buy a reg cab mid size pickup that hardly gets any worse gas mileage than a fwd shitbox.
>>16208193
If yo insist you arent a butt pirate, why do you drive a miata?
Nice b8, assfag.
>>16208223
You're the one with the nice b8
so /o/tists, how hard was it for you to learn manual? wanna get a car soon after I pass my road test, but being outside of europe I pretty much have no way to learn manual, so I gotta do it myself in car I buy.
>bought car from trusted family friend
>manual
>friend gives 20 minute lesson in the cauldesec
>drive to work the next morning
>buy first car with dad
>he knows manual so he drives it home
>spend next couple days brapping around neighborhood for a couple laps at a time
>eventually get the hang of it enough to venture out to larger roads
practice makes perfect mane, just stay on small residential streets or empty parking lots at first
> bought car
> first manual
> drive through heavy city traffic on the way home until I can learn to not stall
>At stoplight
>It turns green
>Clutch in
>1st gear
>HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNKKKK
>HOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNKKKK
>Are you fucking kidding me?
>Light has been green for all of .5 of a second
>Asshole behind me is laying into the horn like there's no tomorrow
Next time this happens to me, I'm straight up going to stall the car on purpose just to waste the fucker's time.
ok
>>16205938
git gud, faggit
>>16205938
I feel you, anon. What annoys me the most is that most hornfuckers are slow-ass drivers. They bitch and shout and and highbeam honk and, when they have a clear road ahead, they drive like faggots.
Sometimes they annoy me so much that I purposely turn on parking lights and stop in front of them. When I know they're butthurt I launch slowly and then leave them in a cloud of BRAAAAPAPASTUTUTUTUBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP.
ITT driving habits you can't stop
>shift to neutral
>wiggle shifter back and forth
>>16204276
That's actually not a bad habit to make sure you're in neutral (but I think you mean wiggle shifter side to side). When I was still learning how to drive I almost killed a friend b/c I turned the ignition on his Land Rover Santana while he was in front of the car and sandwiched him between the Santana's unobtanium bumper and his mum's Mazda 3. Not fun.
>not getting your shifter wiggled
>>16204338
i'll shift your wiggler
Who /cad/ here? Got a new cts last month.
Consumer reports says the CTS handles and drives better than the 5 series but /o/ doesn't talk about it
>buying a luxury car for handling
I hate this meme
>>16186246
This guy has a point, but handling is still a valid point of comparison for any vehicle on the road.
OP I can't validate or deny that claim, but I can tell you that the 5 series certainly has a higher ceiling in the handling department.
>but /o/ doesn't talk about it
It's a boring mid-size sedan.
What do you expect?

Maybe someone with knowledge of car auctions, especially in the UK, can provide some tips
>>16213984
They're all shit.
>>16213992
yeah, but the best of the shit ones? I think an auction would be the cheapest way to get a car. Maybe not in a long run, but I willing to risk it
>>16213984
C4 should be pretty bulletproof. Some HDis hadproblems regarding flywheels mostly but not the recent 1.6.
I would go for the comfiness (and probably cheapness depending where you're from, UK I guess), but 2001 was first year of production and the first models had some issues. Plus I didn't even know they came with the 2.2 as soon as 2001. Petrols are a way safer choice.
2004 Mondeo petrol should be pretty solid too, TDCi had some issues (flywheel, injectors, DPF iirc)
Avoid 307s like the plage, I know many horror stories about them. Electricals mostly.
206 and Focus 1.4L will be underpowered.
Also wtf is the Crossfire doing in this list of sensible shitboxes kek
What kind of toolboxes do you keep in your cars? I'm not looking for some pre-made, plastic box, perfectly placed tool set that will I have to go purchase. I have a decent collection of tools scattered about in my house. I'm just looking for an essentials list. I've got a 2003 Subaru Forester with 326km on her. I've already figured out that I'm going to need to keep 10mm, 17mm, 1/2'', sockets, lug wrench, and multimeter and the standard screw drivers, flashlight, oil filter wrench, and a small pry bar. What else does Anon recommend for a basic repair set in the car?
>>16213855
cell phone and aaa. you won't need anything else
>>16213859
Doesn't really suffice when you live in the mountains and the nearest city is 3 hours away. Thanks for the advice, though.
>>16213855
Mr. Regular?
>rain and darkness
>guy is turning left at crossing
>move slightly right to pass him since im going forward
>almost hit a pederastian, couldnt see him for shit
>brake and swerve to avoid colission last second
>check if hes good and go home
>feel like absolute shit afterwards, close call / dangerous pedestrian situation for the first time in all those years
people tell me not to worry about it as everyone gets close calls, is it true?
i just cant guys.
>>16213827
Anon, you did it and didn't hurt anyone or your car. Be glad that you did well and don't doubt your skills. Sometimes shitty situations arise all you can do is trust yourself
How about you stay in a driving lane instead of pulling illegal passes on the right.
>>16213827
self-inflicted close calls are a result of careless driving, remember to pay attention on the road all the time

Anything is better than a veloster I guess.

yes its a VAG product
>>16213655
this is still true though
>>16213650
Absolutely nothing. I'm with you on the looks and they are a surprisingly good drive.
Hall/o/.
I've just had my engine bearings replaced. The car is now running "Run-In" oil. The sticker reads that I should wait 1,000Km before doing an oil change. The car is at ~300Km. Is it such a big deal if I do an oil change now?
Also, do I need to change the filter?
>>16213603
>Is it such a big deal if I do an oil change now?
Not really. "Break-In" oil is not your spec oil, it has additives to wear the engine in. Also 1k km isn't shit, be patient.
And always change your filter for an oil change.
I would normally wait for the recommended run-in time, but I have a buyer lined up and he wants me to do an oil change before he picks it up.
I've had other people say that "run-in" oil is a relatively pointless, so I didn't know how important it was when you're just replacing bearings.
...and i'd never do an oil change without changing the filter, but i've never been in this situation before (run-in oil, replacing filter after ~300Km of use etc).
Thanks for the input.
Break in oil and stuff like that matters more when you put new rings in. Generally speaking you need to run Dino oil when seating new rings.
The increased carbon deposits it creates helps make the compression rings seat faster before the bores glaze over.
Im a 6' 2" male torn between 3 cars. They are the Audi A4, Acura TLX, and then Infiniti M37. All cars would be 2014 or higher. I'm going for the least girly, best performance, and socially acceptable car.
