What are the advantages and disadvantages of a diesel engine? I heard you can use corn oil or something
>advantages
Better in literally every quantifiable single way.
>disadvantages
None whatsoever.

Nascar
>>16213390
>Pros
Cheaper fuel costs
Great low rpm power delivery

new diesel: higher maintenance costs (DEF, DPF, SCR etc)
old diesel: smokey and smell
Medium age diesel: practically perfect in every way

Any advice for getting cheap car insurance? I'm over 25, been a named driver for over 3 years on my moms car with no claims and just bought my first car with a fairly low band. I'm still getting raped on prices, even on comparison sites. Also, the cheapest quotes are from companies with horrendous reviews and terms etc.
I accept my first year or 2 is going to be pricey and just hope I can build up some No Claims. But is there any way to reduce the fucking cost?
>>16213238
Bite the bullet and go on your own name. As your 25, it'll be a bit cheaper. Good luck
>>16213261
Yeah thats what I'm trying to do, get insured in my own name for the first time. Average quote is still £600-700+ before breakdown cover.
Car only cost 2 grand
How much you paying and for what car?
How do you even do a commute?
i just cant make myself do it. every day i race myself to work.
By only living 2.5 miles away and knowing that getting red lights along the way will make a bigger difference than all the speeding in the world.
>>16213203
Fucking this. My commute can double in time by catching 3 lights. I live next to 2 fucking retirement homes and the old fucks just have to come out to get breakfast during morning rush hour. They just sit at green lights, drive 10 under at best, and cut people off constantly. 75% of my drive had been under construction for 2 years too and it's the only way to get to the other side of town. The city planner needs to be beaten with a pipe.
>>16213271
>The city planner needs to be beaten with a pipe.
I want to find out who the guy responsible for all the traffic lights and road network planning type stuff is in my town.
I'd phone him up at the office everyday and call him a cunt.
I could get a burner phone every month or few weeks.
>Fondly remembered by enthusiasts as one of America’s most forward-thinking automakers, Cord is unexpectedly coming back to life after spending nearly 80 years in the history books.
>Based in Indiana, Cord built cars from 1929 to 1932 and from 1936 to 1937. One of its best-known models is the front-wheel drive 812 (pictured), which was the first series-produced car with retractable headlights and the first car to come standard with a radio. At its launch, the 812 was praised for its radical coffin nose design.
>...the revival is made possible by the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act that Congress passed about a year ago. The bill exempts cars built by low-volume manufacturers from federal regulations, therefore allowing small companies to offer complete, turnkey vehicles if the engine used comes from a fully compliant vehicle. It’s the same law that allowed a Texas-based company to bring back the DeLorean.

thoughts?
But what engine will they use?
>>16213183
812 area code here. I think it's interesting the car is named 812 but would have been made before area codes were used.
>>16213208
who knows.
it says they first have to strike a deal with an existing automaker, probably for the engine and distribution.
Depends what they want to do. the original car had like, a 4.7 liter V8. so if they want to keep that going, then maybe ford? thought this seems more like something Chevy would mess with
How come no one on /o/ gets beading as good as me?

Guys how much do you out into maintenance?
I'm looking at an f30, out of warranty but is CPO eligible.
How much do you spend in the shop?
>>16213377
what engine?
An m3 will have more maintenance than a 320i

2.0 L 4-cylinder
hello lads
Since my car sounds like a corolla stock I was thinking about muffler delet'ing it. Are there any benefits to that? Or just the sound. pic related
>>16213140
You lose a couple MPGs
There's literally no downside to deleting it. The MPG's will go up by about 30%, no more annoying condensation in the tail pipe and my favorite, everyone will love the sound of your 4 cylinders
>>16213140
You'll attract more attention from everyone, which includes cops otherwise >>16213142 this.
Happy Thanksgiving Br/o/s
Okay here's my dilemma
A cutie girl I have been after for 2 years just last week we started hitting it off real swell
Today I wake up to a text says:
Hey anon would love to have you next to me at TG dinner tonight:
Problem:
I live in Vegas and she lives in San Diego and I only have my project car (2001 mustang bullit) that overheats in traffic
What do?
>>16213108
i live in san diego, tell me more about her pls.
Sorry OP here she doesn't live in San Diego but she's clearly there for TG ...

Best looking race car ever?
Saw it the other day at work, excuse the potato pic
Will this Mazda finally compete?
>not even the best looking mazda racecar
>>16212701
Very likely.
I'm a little bummed that they went with a I4 instead of doritos.
There's a company selling K30s for about €15k.
Is this a good deal for a restored 6.4l 180hp 3speed automatic truck from the 80s?
Katastrophe ey
>>16212631
Are you insane
>>16212631
They're that price if you're in a euroland I can understand.
If you have that kind of dosh, look into just importing a fully restored one out of the states, seriously. The 73-87 squares of any variety, vary around $1500-4000 tops for running/driving condition and varying levels of rust/rust-free-ness.
How many kilometres is too much for a stock turbo RB25
I found an r33 gtst with 250,000 at a ridiculously low price that leaves me room for a manual swap (hasnt been bouncing off redline as a drift car at least) and money to replace minor parts, but Id rather not find out most of the engine needs replacing though
I have a friend pretty well versed in them who thinks its fine because its been an auto as long as the test drive goes well and we are going to give it a very good inspection
I literally have one leg and can't use a real clutch because of that. I've driven the piss out of all my car with an auto regardless. It being auto should be taken with a grain of salt.

:)
>>16212557
As you said, if it's auto it shouldn't have been thrashed too bad. Should comp test it before buying though to make sure.
I have to wonder, do you have a prosthetic leg?
Here's my 33 for inspiration :)
How much speed do these have?
I don't want something that will make me late for school.
about 6 speeds
>>16211875
hahah Seriously tho, will I be passing people on the highway or will they be passing me?
/o/, what are your thoughts on the 2000 Impreza rs? I'm looking for fun car that I can dd for now and eventually turn into something better later on. I live on the east coast so 4wd is pretty useful
>>16211659
Ive heard bad things m8
>Headgaskets
>Rust
>$5000 for a car with no quarter panels and 220,000 miles because I KNOW WHAT I GOT NO LOWBALLERS
>Can unironically buy a 02-05 WRX for what most 2.5RSs go for
shit
>>16211659
Don't. The EJ25 makes more power than the EJ22 on paper but the smaller 2.2 is actually more fun to drive (better powerband). That and and better mileage and no headgasket problems.
A 2.5RS starts around 5k for a project and a base L model Impreza or even an Outback Sport (also 2.2, just flashier trim) tops out at ~4k for a pristine example.
In shirt you're buying into a bad meme. If you insist go all in and buy a WRX.
Hey guys I need some help with my 79 camaro if you wouldn't mind
I had to go out of town for 7 weeks and it was only started once during this entire period, nowe that I'm back I've noticed that while accelerating and driving normally it doesn't accelerate "smoothly" it kind of sounds like it's ratcheting or vibrating as it accelrates specially at highway speeds but it kind of goes away at high speeds and also the car physically vibrates at idle. It's idling really shitty actually now that I think about it chugging and womp-womp-womp . I've had a similar issue to this before when I cracked a header so I think it may be an exhaust leak. Tbh the day I got back me and 3 of my buddies were cruising around and we bottomed out hard on a speed bump and I think that's where it started.
The cars going to my dads friends shop for a few minor things like the horn not being hooked up, the parking brake being disconnected and a broken speedo anyways so I figured I'd have the guy check this out too so I'm trying to prepare myself financially.... do you guys think it's just an exhaust leak? I also noticed a few cracked dried air hoses around my carb and replaced some of them. Is there anything else it could be like a timing issue or something?
>>16211617
I normally do my own work anyways but this is my DD and I can't get a rental or something while I have It taken apart for 2 weeks trying to figure out what it is. I also have excessive blowby so I'm having a problem knock it out quickly rather than me fuck around on it. Unfortunately in the Marines they inspect your vehicles before every major holiday and if it fails your totally fucked and can't drive it off base. So this needshould to get done like right now
clean the carbs
check air filter
>>16211633
Checked airfilter and sprayed the carb down and flicked the linkages and shit yesterday, didn't really do anything.
