What happened to these?
left to collect dust in boomer garages
>>16453755
Majority are probably statched in collectors garages. Same goes for the last Ford Thunderbird.
>>16453755
Sitting it boomers garages until they are old enough that they can put them on craigslist for $80k because they know what they got.
Is driving automatic really that bad or is it a meme? It's impossible to learn to drive stick without just taking the plunge and buying a stick shift car, but I need a beater to just drive to work every day and learning stick shift on the fucking highway is not conducive to this end. Are people on /o/ just rich or something that they can afford to own a car for "fun" and a grocery getter? Or are most of you guys euros who drive manual because hardly anyone there even owns a vehicle?
>Are people on /o/ just rich or something
mfw
No, just smart enough to spot a half decent manual car and learn to daily it, all 30% of us that actually know how to drive manual that is...
>>16453746
From my experience, if you don't know anyone that knows how to drive manual, you're fucked. Lessons from an instructor are extremely expensive because it's a niche market and buying a stick car and learning by trial and error isn't very smart because you could hurt yourself or someone else.
>>16453734
manuals are slower than automatics.
So my brother has a 2012 Accord and since shortly after receiving the car, the pungent smell of cigarette smoke making a comeback has been ongiong. The trees are not nearly pungent enough (and aren't legal to keep dangling from the rearview anyways, at least in NY) so I'm trying to help him using a combination of Ozium gel and Febreeze air vent clips. It does okay until usually when the gel wears off.
Is there any more effective option for odor neutralization rather than just covering it up with a second smell?
>>16453127
Upholster the car again
1. Stop being faggots
2. Always keep windows a crack open to facilitate airflow
3. Shampoo the seats
4. Replace carpets if you can
5. Dude weed lmao hotbox lol

What is with Jew York?
Looking at getting a Ford F-150. Got some good deals on the 201's because I just started a new job and get employee+ discounts or whatever it is called.
I'm looking at the SuperCrew with the 6.5 bed. I'll be hauling a track car and probably go-karts if my kids want to get into it. I doubt my weight will exceed 4500 lbs.
Is the 2.7L noticeably weaker than the 3.5L? I'm bummed that there isn't a 4x4 option in this set up, but I probably will never need it, so, w/e.
>>16453004
just get a 7.3 powerstroke for <15k
>>16453038
Is that a Super Duty? I don't see that option on the F150.
>>16453058
Yeah it is. Don't listen to that anon, he's stupid. If I were you id go for the 5.0L V8 option. MPG is not impressive i get an average 14 in the city. But it damn reliable. So far I only had to change the water pump after the 105k mile mark. My only issue thus far. But if MPG is an issue, i would say take a good look at some ecoboost options. I don't know too much about them.
Would a 90's Camry be a good starter vehicle?
>>16452540
Absolutely.
Check for oil leaks.
If you can find a coupe, get it.
>>16452540
A good starter car is the 1982 Supra.
Yeah they're great. Reliable as fuck and pretty simple and easy to wrench on.
Get the 3.0 V6 version with the 5 speed manual.
When the car is cold, if I shift into first or second it feels like the clutch is bouncing off of the flywheeel rapidly and the car jerks.
I have had this happen in reverse only on another car. It's pretty violent.
Both cars were abused and had clutches changed, if that says anything (on the other hand, I have had cars with clutch changes that didn't have this issue).
I can't even begin to guess what the issue is. Pressure plate? Or maybe some sensor and it just feels like clutch bouncing?
P.S. If I push clutch in it's all good, and never happens in higher gears. But high gears can't into torque.
>>16452427
bump. Any ideas anyone?
>>16452427
Replace the broken part
>>16452427
Maybe pilot bearing is fugged, was flywheel resurfaced?
Just inspect it breh, sounds bad
>$1500 for this pile of shit
I've been browsing craigslist too much lately and am realizing I'm way too fucking old to deal with anything that looks like that. Once a car gets to this state, why not just scrap it? Poor thing was a complete vehicle at some point. Poor people ruin everything.
>>16451280
from 1 pic, what's it missing, the bumper & reinforcement?
>>16451372
It isn't just the missing parts, though that's bad enough, it's also the overall beat-to-hell appearance of the thing. Other than possibly some small parts there's not a goddamn thing left that's worth a shit so it's barely even worth being a parts car.
hey br/o/s,could you tell me in which us state the cars are the cheapest and would cost least to maintain? I'm thinking of moving for work to US and would appreciate the help.
Well, there are a couple of things you can consider.
1. Climate
Ideally you want to avoid states that experience extreme cold and/or snow. Your vehicle will be more likely to rust and the vehicles you buy locally will likely be in worse shape. You'll also need to budget for snow tires and any other miscellaneous snow equipment.
2. Insurance
Car insurance isn't mandatory in every state. On the flip side, you will be personally liable if you are found at fault in an accident. In any case, you can save a lot of money by making the conscious decision to just be a good and safe driver and not insuring your vehicle. Find a state that doesn't require car insurance.
3. Inspections
Not a huge cost here but your life will be a lot easier if you choose a state that doesn't require safety and/or emissions inspections of your vehicles.
4. Parking
If you're going to live in a city, parking might be an actual issue. Some people lease a parking spot or others are lucky enough to secure a house/apartment with a garage or spot on the street. Either way, the ideal solution is to live in a more suburban or rural area with plenty of space where parking isn't an issue
The answer? Probably one of the Southern states. The Midwest has arguably even worse weather than the East coast so despite their lax car laws, you really don't want to put up with the extreme winters and extreme summers. Places like Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, etc... also have laid back car laws but don't have the extreme winters that fuck everything up. The only real disadvantage to that region is niggers

what about the tornadoes and floods

Is classic car maintenance easier due to the systems being simpler? Or is it a bigger pain because the parts are harder to come by?
obsolete parts by both OE and aftermarket manufactures and the people that still have some / shops that will custom make them upcharge like crazy
>>16450774
Depends on how many of said vehical they made, but typically its way easier.
depends on what you know. guys who do turbo swaps and wire up efi all the time are going to have an easier time working on a subaru than a guy who is used to re-jetting carburetors and adjusting valves. At the same time the subaru guy probably doesnt know as many of the tricks and hacks that it takes to work on old cars. most older cars, the wear parts (brakes, clutch, wheel bearings ect) are easily sources at FLAPS but the stuff like interior parts, trim, suspension and drive train parts will be much harder to come by
18 year old Australian here. I need to learn to drive manual for the career path I want, so I need a manual car.
What's the best manual car that an 18 year old can get? Preferably something that isn't ugly as fuck, or expensive as fuck.
>>16450524
just clutch pussy
>>16450526
I don't think that'll help my situation.

How'd I do?
Why are "uses the report button" and "thinks the janitor does a good job" buttons in the same square? The two aren't mutual.
Let's discuss auto insurance companies. What's the best insurance for the price? Helpful customer service and good coverage.
This is mostly for Americans, but international anons can discuss too to help their countrybros.

Fuck Hagerty, they wouldn't insure my classic car because I daily drive motorcycles year round in Sunny California.
Pacific Motorcycle/McGraw has good rates for motorcycles.
However, I switched to USAA for simplicity to try to keep everything in one place. Not sure if it is worth it now. USAA only insures so many motorcycles and then after that re-routes you to Progressive. So I have 1 motorcycle with USAA and another under Progressive. Just the gaggle fuck I wanted to avoid. And then classic car insurance through USAA routes you to even another insurance, American Collectors. Thinking of going back to Pacific for lower rights and using the classic car insurance.
>>16447258
>Fuck Hagerty
Haha, I thought they'd be a good deal, but they turned me down too. Namely because I hadn't owned my car a year, nor belonged to a car club.
Just as well, 21st century gave me a far better rate since I already had other vehicles on the policy.
>>16447258
>Have 3 cars insured with Geico
>Cheapest option in the area
>Don't care about customer service because my cars aren't actually covered, I'm literally paying $130/mo. for three pieces of paper.
Is buying a used BMW a bad idea?
If it smells like curry or garlic inside, don't buy it.

Yes, especially pic related model.
