Any other Lexus owners here having issues with their dashboard melting and/or cracking? I got in my 2007 IS350 this morning and three large cracks have appeared on the dash, literally overnight. Is this something I will have to pay for 100% out of pocket, or is there some sort of recall/deal they're offering on dash replacements? I hear the whole job is something like $800.

Yeah it sucks. Nice car otherwise, but this is pretty ridiculous.

There's a recall going on, or there was wen I was working there. Get to a dealership before it ends.

So any of you cunts know what you're doing when it comes to fuel systems?

Im currently building an off-road racer, and i'm about at the point where i'm going to have to start making room for the fuel system.

The car has 3 main bits separated by big bulkheads; Fuel Cell up front, Cockpit, and Enginebay out back. The problem is that i'm using an FiTech injection unit, with a bosch 044 pump, so if i build it with the pump in/under the tank i'll have a 5 bar fuel line running through the inside of the cockpit. Not great, and sadly, MSA regs specify the fuel lines have to be inside the vehicle.

So i've come up with the idea of using the mechanical fuel pump on the engine (which gives more than enough flow, and self regulates @7psi), to feed into a small tank by the engine, feeding the HP pump and EFI. Return line feeding back into small tank, with a vent/overflow running back to the main tank.

The main theory for it being that there shouldn't be any pressurised fuel running through the cabin, and any air pulled from the main tank sloshing about shouldn't reach the HP pump.

But i'm new to the world of fuel injection, so let me know if there's anything i may have overlooked or just done stupid. Will the system work?

I've got $10k for a cool 80/90s car that has decent mpg but still has power.

I'd prefer pop up lights but not required.

Also I want bigger than a miata, so sedan preferred.

See if you can find a nice SC300 or SC400. Spend the full $10K to get the best example you can find.

Old fucker here. I had pop-ups, and generally glad they're gone. You had to leave them up all winter to keep them from locking up when iced up and stripping out the gears. They generally used crap bulbs / optics from the 1980s, and always seemed to be one of the first things to fail.

I get the nostalgia, but honestly they're more trouble than they're worth on older cars.

Anyway - if you can find a nice one of these go for it. If you want a 4 door the LS400/ LS430s are really nice.

It's an acquired aesthetic. 850s and 940s are a bit easier to stomach in terms of boxiness if you're not completely sold on the 240's looks

Grew up in FL so we had no ice but I grew up with family car having pop ups. Never got to drive it though.

Hi /o/, I may have a chance to buy one of these from a grandma on my street. Would this be a better choice then le meme 3k Civic? Don't have many details on the car but it's a 2000-2005 model like pic related, and was only used by said grandma for her weekly errands down the street and back. It's been sitting out on the street/driveway for its entire lifetime and has some paint chipping but doesn't look too bad. What would be a good price to try and jew for?

Because by closing plants in Mexico, more Mexicans will jump the border, lowering the workforce price, so it's like a factory in a 3rd world country, but in USA.

They've had the SC factory in the books for a while now. Not sudden at all.

Because the US peso is at a 30 year high, and odds are 20:1 that it will only go down from here as the world economies catch up.

I went and drove a 07 M6 with a 22k price tag and 70k miles today. It had open headers and sounded like a legit race car (would prolly get annoying). I liked it but if I bought it I would need to part with my 72 Datsun 240z that is 80% complete (body, brakes, suspension, and fuel system done, runs and drives, but want to drivetrain swap) to get some garage space and money. I don't think I want to.

Help me find a sportyish 4 year old car with decent gas mileage and less than 100k for around 10k please.

M6 will be great till the SMG nukes on you. If it's one of 300 something rare manual trans def scoop it up.

A better car though in that same price range is a Cayman imo. But that's because I have a porsche boner.

So i have a 1990 Mazda miata (pic Related)
high millage and want something faster.
my plan is to do a $600 turbo setup i found on youtube and run 12psi for a while until it blows but what should i swap to? i like the idea of a SR20 or a 305 V8 help me decide or if you have any better ideas let me know
p.s Im Poorfag so cheap motors are appreciated

Mazda 626 Enigne swap (~200 hp)
don't swap a 305 its a pigfat engine that will totally change the car
the SR20 isn't a bad choice though
you might want to just supercharge the stock engine anyway though. especially if youre a poorfag, it WILL be the cheapest option.
>>
>>16457577
supercharge the 1.6.? i never thought about that i'll look into it
>>
>>16457543
>600$ turbo
Don't. Save your money for something actually good. Cheapest option that'll actually work is probably a premade centrifugal kit.

>SR20
Might as well throw in a Honda K-series
>305 V8
Why in the hell would you pick a iron smog era Chevy small block with small displacement, when you can throw an aluminium LS in?

Other options I'd consider (in no particular order):
>1UZ (Toyota/Lexus V8)
>Pretty much any V6, Mazda K-series in particular
>Rotary
>2.3 DISI Turbo
>Windsor V8 (pretty light despite beign iron block)
>Rover V8 (aluminium, although unreliable and kinda gutless)

It's back, boys.

Straight up to engine specs :
LS500 (shown in the pic)
>twin-turbocharged, direct-injected 3.5-liter V-6
>415 horsepower
>442 lb-ft of torque
That's close to V8 levels of power because it's main competitors such as the Mercedes's S550 puts out 449hp and BMW's 750i puts out 445hp.

>Aisin-supplied 10-speed automatic transmission
>RWD as standard and AWD as optional
>Lexus claims a 0-60 timing of 4.5 seconds (RWD)

As of now Lexus has not released any details regarding a V8 powertrain , F-Sport Trim and a hybrid-powertrain.

Other interior features include.
>As in the LC, twist knobs to select the drive mode and stability-control setting are mounted on top of the gauge pod, a nod to Lexus’s LFA supercar.

>Lavishly appointed 28-way power front seats with a massage function are an option, and a rear-seat luxury package offers heating, cooling, and massage for passengers there.

>Curiously, Lexus is relatively mum on the LS’s semi-autonomous driving capability, saying only that the LS500 will offer the Lexus Safety System + array of features (adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automated emergency braking, and automatic high-beams) along with an optional Advanced Safety package. The latter will include a new pedestrian-detection system that can brake and steer the car around a pedestrian.
