Anyone have any experience with motorised trail bikes? I'm considering buying a basic 80cc motor kit and attaching it to pic related.

>>
Have fun when your frame and rims explode.

You think a bike like that can handle an 80cc engine?
>>
>>980992
I've seen it done on even cheaper bikes so why not?
>>
>>980995
Because bisykles are generally designes for carrying people and some amount of cargo. Attaching a 30-50kg object that causes the bike to move nearly 100kmh to a sub 500 money currency bike with alu frame could prove to be problematic in some areas.

Not that I have any personal experiences with this.

Knock yourself out, break a leg etc etc.

What do you guys think about hilliness effecting city's potential for cycling-friendliness..

I hear that Seattle is quite hilly yet has a high cycle mode-share. Also San Francisco. How come? Can the hills mainly be circumvented? Are the hills overstated? Do people just sweat it out?

I live in a neighborhood in SF with a lot of hilly streets, which makes biking a pain in the ass. There is this route across the city called the wiggle that makes it easier since it's flatter, but that doesn't really do anything for my neighborhood.

Any other old films of cycling back in the day? Bonus points for utility or touring.

Reminder that gen 1.1 is the ONLY true /n/ jersey.
>based on gen 1 design, not some stupid forced meme like "nomads"
>replaces death cage "buses" with "boats"
>incorporates board color

So did anyone see that TrainSpotting Live show? One episode in and it's already getting shit on for using old footage.

>The BBC has admitted it went off the rails when it failed to highlight that it was using five-month-old footage in Trainspotting Live. During the show, which aired on BBC4 on Monday night, host Peter Snow excitedly told viewers that there was live footage of a diesel locomotive travelling along a track. “We’ve just seen one going past,” he said. “There we are, Class 66.”

>However, eagle-eyed viewers spotted that the clip could not have been live and had in fact been posted on YouTube back in February.

>A BBC spokeswoman said a “mistake” was made during the “excitement of a live broadcast”.

Anyone watch this yet? Is it any good?

I want to bike trails and race.

Go to an LBS. Sportchek sells some premium bikes, but expect walmart tier service when it comes to assembly and maintenance.

I have a long biking backround so maintenance isn't an issue. I can take it to the lbs if need be.

Just looking to get back into biking. I don't need the best. I just want to get back out there and see where it takes me.

This is not how memes work.

how much would you guess i would have to pay someone to weld this up for me
granted i provided and cut the steel as well as drilled the two holes myself, ill probably need them to bend the steel

how much do you think they would charge if they cut the steel and did the measurements themselves?

also ive been getting 26mpg hwy
by how much do you reckon this will lower my mpgs?

lmao anon what the fuck are you doing son, this is dangerous and stupid, why can't you run a hitch rack like normal people.

This is probably the most retarded idea I've seen in a long time. The first cop that sees your autistic invention will give you quite a big ticket, for obvious reasons.
>>
so is the rack on this pic also illegal?
and why the fuck is it dangerous? i can see through a fucking bike

i have a camper shell on the back and dont want a bicycle blocking the door

I had an RV one time with two bars welded to the front to hold bikes. we never drove it anywhwere, tho, but the previous owner did (he made the bike rack)

What do my fellow model railroaders think of model train shows? In this day and age of eBay and the internet it's hard to feel like you're getting a good deal anymore for the time you spend to go to a show. At the same time you meet interesting people and have the chance to come up with new ideas.

While eBay and the likes are very strong in presence and make it alot easier to access railroad stuff for a (very) good price, swap meets still can offer goods for a fair price. IMO their strength lies in finding 2nd hand material. It is a good alternative to extend your searching area. Sometimes it's just a matter of luck whether you find something useful or not.
>>
>>978631
Swap meets are good for finding something you weren't actively looking for. Say, you just want some extra freight stock to fill out a yard? Hit up a swap meet, you'll find all the random stock you could dream of.
>>
OP here. You both bring up good points. I try to look for new in the box out of production models and used stuff in great shape. I have a nice old collection from my father and I from years ago. I'm starting new with new motive power and rolling stock. Of course I'll still run some of the old stuff but I'm into DCC now and growing past the old standard 4x8 sheet of plywood.

I have gotten lucky and found a nice 8 car passenger set and many vehicles at swap meets. Some of those old guys hate haggling. Even with cash in hand. But for fill in pieces for background stuff it's a good idea to get a $10 box of tyco cars to hide around while you parade around the expensive stuff.
