How much does it cost to ride on the train where you live? Where I am it costs $10 to go into Boston and $5 to go into any other zone.

What is your opinion on Tannus solid tires? Has any of you used them before? What about bumpiness? Rolling resistance? Weight? Etc. Im thinking about getting them for my singlespeed commuter.

Thanks for the help

They are a pita to mount.

The can damage to your rim because unlike pneumatic tire,a solid one transfers all shocks to a localized part of the rim wheres a pneumatic tire more or less distributes its load over the rims entire length more or less, thats why rims can be made so light.

Pneumatic tires offer better progressive spring characteristics (eg less rollan resistance and more comfort)

I havent ridden the tannus brand but I did ride a similairly closed-cell foam solid tire,it sucked shit.

I dunno about the weight,Tannus states that their system is lighter than your "typical tire and tube" whatever that means.

Im more qurious about the grip they offer and if theres a possibility of them coming off t the rim in sharp corners.

Any good resources for adjusting bb7s?
I was descending from a mountain the other day and at one point, I found I was decelerating on the descent. Didn't know what to do about them so I just kind of worked the brake and stuff until shit stopped being shit but it's probably in need of tuning.

Have you considered discarding them and getting dual piston brakes now that you've discovered why people stopped buying BB7s?
>>
My front wheel suffered from a serious amount of rust, seizing the QR skewer in the hub. Took a great amount of force and time to get it out. Is it possible to just replace the skewer or do I have to service the hubs too?
>>
>>999284
>good resources for adjusting bb7s
OP what do you want to know? BB7s are possibly the easiest disc caliper to adjust:
1. verify the rotor is true and bolted securely to the hub, and that the hub is fully located in the dropouts
2. align the caliper with the rotor so that there's no rubbing - and try to get the fixed brake pad as close as possible to the rotor
3. use the adjusting knobs on each side of the BB7 to fine tune pad position so that they both sit as possible to the rotor
4. Verify that your brake cable doesn't have issues with slack, or sticking inside the housing
5. ???
6. Profit!

>>999296
The cones and QR are completely independent of each other, your skewer simply runs through the hollow center of the axle. I would, however, check to see whether or not you've bent the axle, since that's a much more common cause of a stuck QR than rust.

Can be any type of cycling.

In terms of traveling? If I have to get somewhere less than 500 miles away, I'll drive. If further, I'll take a plane. Trains are just to expensive and inconvenient compared with frequent, low-cost air travel.

Please share and discuss what you think are the best locomotives to be produced, or your favorite locomotive type.

Personally, I think the EMD SD45 variants are some of the greatest diesels to be produced for North American railroads, and pretty advanced for the time they were released. Also they looked really cool.

Here's a set of SD45X demo units, designed and built for SP in 1970 and equipped with improved cooling capacity for tunnels and snowsheds and with a 4200 HP prime mover. Only 7 were ever built, and six of those were owned by the SP.
>>
In terms of freight locos I would say the Ac4400 or dash 9. My favourite loco though is the MPI MP36 though.

These are always fun to watch, are former SP units. Occasionally they'll haul freight (say 25-50 cars) because Caltrain can't have UP run freight up the penninsula during the day.

At a similar price point ~900-1000, should I go with well reviewed carbon frame with tiagra 4700, unknown quality carbon frame with 105s, or aluminum with Ultegras. Sale ends today so I kind of want to make a decision quick
