I have weak knees, will cycling be good or bad for me?
All I can say right now is that I rode around a little for 3 days and my knees felt pretty sore but now they feel stronger than before after taking a break.
Also I don't want to be one of those super skinny, almost dead looking, skeletor eating disorder cyclist, but I don't want to get huge thighs. How should I train for decent aesthetics, just track training on easy mode?
you're not going to get huge overnight. just train as much as you want and then stop when you're satisfied with your "aesthetics". it's a dumb reason to ride a bike though and your question is stupid
>riding on some rural backroads somewhere in missouri
>deer runs into the road fifteen feet in front of me, its gay hooves slip and it struggles to regain traction
>i think this is it, i just bought this new bike and this faggot mongrel is going to ruin it
>deer gets its shit in gear right before impact and we avoid collision

Weak knees huh
Well a short crank and spinning helps avoid knee pain in general
Not sure if you can actual strengthen a knee if your cartilage is damaged
has science gone too far?
ok
>1x drivetrain

imagine the size of the links that would actually fit over those gear-teeth. fucking anchor chains.
>tfw just bought new bar tape
Did you put it in your ass?
/n/ - Yes, you're still on 4chan
Is it pink?
sup /n/. haven't posted on here really in years, but this happened today and i'm bummed out big time. just built this bike back up after a few years of being dormant. probably my third or fourth ride back on them.
these wheels bunked, or can i get a welder to fix? i know alum. is a high heat, but it can't be that hard to patch? should i be concerned about durability/stress on the walls if they 'patch' it? or just say fuck it and ebay some new wheels?
I'd say you're SCREWED ahahahahhaha
No but really you could probably just get a new tire and tube.

I don't think it really matters...maybe put a coin there?
My personal blimp has arrived
Oops, wrong image. I have the smaller version.
Me in cockpit (OK, not my blimp, but I fly it for corp)
Why not?

Does he need to speak with an air traffic control in his commutes?
Do he need a license?

Welcome to the Free Czech Republic!
After communism, Eastern Europe embraced freedom, in many ways more free than the US. They also have lax gun laws, and low flat tax rates.
>>1005264
Explain please, I want to fly and of course I want to fly in a real free country without too much bullshit.
Why isn't hydraulic taxi a thing? Hydraulic motors have an extremely high power-to-weight and can allow the APU to move the aircraft without no tugs or main engines.
There must be a catch, what is it?
there isn't any range in power production is my guess
>>1004802
What does that mean?
Having to add a complex system powered by APU is just adding pointless maintenance unless the plane is spending a significant part of its operating hours in the taxi phase. Maybe for short-haul aircraft, but that market is extremely competitive and going against the grain is seen as too risky.

It's a nice bike I think the typical basic bitxh bike would be a cannondale or giant
>>1004745
Giant Propel w/ 105
literally 5 of the 30 people I raced with last weekend had the same orange and black 105 propel, fuckin embarassing tbqh familia
what programs do you guys use to record your speeds/distance, etc. on rides and upload it? I am reaching LIGHTNING FAST SPEEDS and i want to brag about it on the internet. also it is cool to keep records like that.
fuck yo momma
If it's not on Strava it didn't happen.
>>1004583
yeah but will it show your max speed in a strava ride record? like what hardware do I need to get the speeds into strava records is what i need to know
american here. has any other country fuck over their /n/ as bad as us?
>>1004302
China is trying hard to catch up, but as long as they continue to build high speed rail they will never achieve American levels of 'freedom'
>>1004305
China even had plenty of cyclists but they wanted to imitate Americans.
>>1004314
Some days ago I read that government wanted the citizens to use bikes because the pollution is getting really bad on the cities. If you imitate murican way of life only bad things will happen to you.
Have you ever just drove/cycled to relax during the witching hour, /n/? How was it?
Kinda sketchy, yet exhilarating. There is a good chance any of the drivers you encounter are drunk. Anyone walking around that time is likely up to no good. Whenever there is a news story about someone getting stabbed, its right around 3 am.
In the rare cases I'm riding that late / early (starting or finishing a long brevet), I ride pretty close to the middle of the to give myself maximum opportunity to react should any shit go down.
>>1004178
many a time
sometimes drunk
one or two times I crashed blind drunk into a freshly plowed fields and slept there until morning, snuggly fitting inbetween the rows
somehow I feel like doing this boosts my immunity because after each time this happens I don't get as much as sniffles for a year or so
most of the time I ride sober tho and where I live at that hour I have road to myself so it's nice
no spooky stories tho, wish I had some ghost encounters to tell
I don't know what that is but probably yes

Fuck me, I'll learn to spell one of these days.

the fumes have started affecting you it seems
I want to raise my power level from a lowly commuter. I plan to start cycling more kilometers every day, currently I only ride 14km 5 days a week.
How much more should I ride? Should I do a big ride on the weekend?
yeah dude. i recently bought a really expensive bike and started doing as much as i can on the weekends. also you could do some HARD sprints over the weekend if you don't have time for long distances. sprint till you can't anymore then take it easy then do it again
>>1003883
I'm thinking of going for a one hour ride every night and then doing a couple of hours on the weekend. Should add up to maybe 8 - 10 hours a week.
>>1003884
you should be riding fast and short distance for 3 days during the week, rest for 2 days and then go for a long ride during the weekend.
Is it harder to learn to ride a bicycle or learn how to swim? I can barely remember learning either.
It took me 3 hours to get a bike rolling enough to enjoy it
It took me 1.5 years of learning how to swim to enjoy it
Make of that what you will
>>1003671
I would imagine it depends largely on how much your inability to swim is caused by fear of drowning.
You fall off a bike, you're not gonna die, but even coughing on a bit of water can be fucking scary. Feels like you're gonna die.
As far as simple mechanics go, I think it's easier to learn how to doggy paddle from scratch than it is hopping on a two wheeled bike from the start. Balence is a hard thing to learn if you can't already do it.
I think learning to swim without arm floats was a lot easier than learning to ride without training wheels - but like you say, it was so long ago that it's hard to remember.
On the other hand, I think getting better at swimming is harder than getting better at cycling - especially if you don't live on the coast or work on a ship. You can just casually bike around or commute to work and get better every day on a bike, but swimming requires straight-up training.
I'm in college and looking to buy a bike for commuting.
Don't have much experience so bear with me
Can I really fuck up that bad? There's a bike shop on campus so I should be covered there.
with my area and price range most of what I can buy are older vintage bikes. vista cavalier, a foldable dahon, a peugot, and a trek 400 are in decent condition and fit my budget comfortably.
The trek 400 needs new tires and tubes though, the others are usable.
By the way, I do have experience riding older bikes with not as many speeds/ no speeds and no brakes, and it's not going to be a busy city commute with traffic either.
Thanks for any help, advice, and tips.
>>1003391
trek 400 if it fits your body
>>1003401
Are trek 400s weirdly sized? also found a raleigh sprite ,a mongoose switchback, and a schwinn frontier
>80's steel frame ten speed road bike
or
>90's rigid mtb with slicks
Both under $100 if you look hard enough.
There ya go OP.
