BT mecha aren't "rough" nor practical, they're obtuse and weird, attempts at first to imitate Dougram its daddy, the spinning off into nothing.
American mecha designers at large have no experience and so their machines are shit. They don't know what they want when they go for humanoid stuff and it comes out as janky shit.

You get good stuff a lot, like Doug Tennapel, Rob Schrab, Syd Mead, Star Wars in general, etc. but BT is bottom of the barrel stuff.

I understand that she was falling for Kou and if he killed Gato she'd never be able to forgive him. A lot of /m/ hates her and blames her as if she actually helped with Operation Stardust in some way. Actually Gato said that it's already too late to stop the colony from falling before Kou even came in.
Being in love is not a rational thing. Furthermore consider that nothing went wrong between her and Gato, he just disappeared one day. That kind of thing makes you long for someone for a really long time, and when that person comes back into your life it's really hard to just stand there and watch your new almost-boyfriend kill them, even if your old flame is doing something wicked. She didn't help Gato's plan, and she didn't really prolong his life for more than a half hour. What she did do was preserve the possibility of being able to love Kou, which would have been impossible if she'd seen him kill "the one that got away".

Infinite Space was probably the most disappointment I've ever experienced with a new game. "Holy crap, a Sega science fiction RPG where you design and staff your own fleet to fight in space? Sign me up!... Oh, god, it's rock paper scissors..."

It wasn't really rock paper scissors, it had a bit more complexity and you always knew exactly what option to pick. It was a bit borked. It was pitifully easy to just leave dodge on, wait till your opponent fired and then get a guaranteed barrage before putting dodge up, since getting crit by a normal attack was peanuts compared to eating a barrage. And then there were fighters, which vastly outpaced anything else in damage and completely locked down your opponent. And AA guns and ship specific special attacks were utterly useless.

It could have used a bit of polish.

But that said I still enjoyed it a lot. Though I had a walkthrough handy at all times because I was damned if I was going to miss everything and stumble about for hours looking for the right event flag to procede.

Besides, IMO the gameplay/customisation still managed to be satisfying. If you want to talk about disappointing try the platform it ended up on.

To this day I'm still nonplussed by the idea.

That said, I think Dan just wanted the seekers on the missiles to have a hackjobbed line of sight lock, using the launcher like an oversized Javelin or some shit.

BEST PLANs are always lolwut inducing, that much is certain.

There's a mechwarrior like game called Young's Modulus. Mechs are blocky bendylegs and you fight against spherical alien robots. Top end weapons include nuclear torpedoes and plasma mortars that the enemy spams at you with ridiculous blast radius.
