I liked those books but I forgot almost everything about them. I vaguely remember the mental pictures some of the books painted but that's about it.
However, if you read them and you're over 13 years old, kill your self.

SAVING YOUR LEGACY
What is life but an assortment of moments that will soon be forgotten when all else has passed? Some pain in the ass times while others are forged in our brains with a label of "great, good or gracious." What makes it more important than eternal happiness? Why act like a dick when you too ask, "What is this but an assortment of moments?" Your life will be forgotten when all else has passed, no matter how mean or nice you are. If you make a change who cares? Soon there will be nobody to remember your endeavors to make this world of mindless drones who are delving in their phones a better place while they starve themselves to stay skinny and eat gossip about who's pretty or who's getting laid, but who's gonna save this civilization from destruction and leave a people to remember your endeavors to make this world a better place? That is if you succeed in your deed at saving your legacy.
Ssometimes I feel like one way but then it'ss the other way.
Confusing but sometimes i find clarity in the bible.
I think about life and it's deep stuff and like it doesnt matter and stuff.
I wish I would find more coins on the street.
I never leave my room so I can't collect enough coins to buy rat food for my rats. They resort to cannibalism.

After Bob Dylan, why not giving the Nobel for Gene Wolfe too, who's probably the best genre fiction author since Tolkien and Herbert and one of best American writers alive?
>>8851589
Wolfe's way too right wing for the Nobel comitee
You have a containment thread for a reason, you miserable scum.
Will they ever give the prize to GRRM?
Sebald and Silverblatt. Absolute gold.

I've only read Rings of Saturn. It's really fantastic. He has very dreamy prose. I really appreciate his approach to voices - Sebald sort of assumes the identity of multiple voices by subtly quoting them and speaking as them on subjects those voices have studied or spoken about. I appreciate this rejection of multiple voices. It's always a singular voice.
You might know, what happens at the end of Vertigo? I liked it (that guy with the star-cape was stunning) but the end baffled me. Why did everything blow up?
Haven't read Vertigo senpai.
Probably to signify a collapse of history given Sebald's love of such things.
That's a great podcast. Too bad there are no good podcasts on classic lit
Anyone in /lit/ read this? I'm reading it in english and need your thoughts on it. I can't seem to get so deep into it, the language is hard to understand
>>8851559
It's very good.
Hope this helps

I was testing some literary devices tonight.
This is apart of a (very) short story I'm writing as practice.
Slowly… white… the absence of color, it takes over. No! The colors of his mind run, run? Colors can’t run! They are being washed, no wiped, no erased, NO!!! They are simply dying, yes, YES! The DEATH of the colors, the DEATH of his mind, the DEATH of his world. I mean, he is dying after all. Dreams crumble, casually, death comes, carefully holding hope, happily hopping, despair corrupts, deforming consciousness, (in a happy voice) "goodbye world" :) …
So what do you think?
I think it is truly wonderful.

mixtape drops when
“When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.”

Did Nietzsche, like Socrates, even exist?
Think about it
He wrote all his works in some little hut in bumfucknowhere, Switzerland?
How convenient!
Then, when he started getting famous, got syphilis/dementia/whatever and died
Pull the other one
Even if Nietzsche didn't exist. Someone wrote the work we say is from Nietzsche making that person a Nietzsche even if he doesn't look like the picture. In the end it's the same thing.

What if it was just a committee of monkeys with typewriters?

yo lit, who da real champ: 1984 or a brave new world?
I've read 1984 about five times this year and loved it. I just picked up a brave new world yesterday but I'm having trouble getting into it about an hour in. I know that I'm biased and I might come to appreciate a brave new world in the same way I do 1984, but I want to know what you guys think
>>8850990
Imo
BNW: better social commentary
1984: better book
ah yeah??
>>8850990
why did you read it 5 times?
